Calvin was the native of Mars. While he's in deep slumber, some aliens woke him up. At first, he thought they were friendly until they electrocuted him. Make him realized they were hostile aliens and he need to kill them to ensure his survival. I can see the Aliens movie plot if it was made from Martians point of view.
The problem in Alien was the corrupt corporation and it's bio-weapons division, Ripley did follow protocol but Ash intervened per his directives to preserve the lifeform.

Like one person just aim away from the earth and the other toward, there's no way the alien has extensive knowledge to control the astronaut's arm, figure out how to steer the pod while doing that, AND steer it toward earth (which it has no awareness of). Probably the destination switch during malfunction.
It would be pretty short to be honest. Right about 5 minutes after the fishing man opened the pod, Calvin would have been served on a plate with soy sauce and some egg fried rice. Uncle Roger would probably rate it a 3 out of 5 ... Haiya..
David wasn't killed by the alien in the end because he gave oxygen candles to the alien out of the kindest of his heart. So the alien and David became friends in the end.

I absolutely loved the ending of this movie. I watched it with my dad and we were convinced with the ending, until they switched it right up with Miranda being the one to float into deep space. The screams, the reveal, the music, the shots, amazing. I personally liked this movie a lot. Even though some of their decisions were a little uhh... not-smart. But I think its the pressure of a friggin alien from mars tryna kill them imo.

I like that in this movie the astronauts really seem like they are in space - there is seemingly no graviatation. I really hate when in movies astronauts stand and even run through the halls. They did that very convincingly.
When I saw this in theaters I missed the detail that the creature wasn’t destructive until the scientist caused it pain. At first I thought it was pretending to be curious or hadn’t realized whether or not the crew could be prey. On earth it would have probably recognized the destructive behavior of humans and killed the world anyway. It’s also a look into human behavior in which we treat any non human as beneath us and experimenting and testing life like it’s a subject with no pain receptors or emotions. The humans in this case became the test subjects and prey. The death in which Calvin ate the crew member from the inside out would have been incredibly painful.
Actually, he was wearing a glove and the alien was closed up, the issue came when he did not reveal that the alien was in his clothes, he jeopardise the life of the other crew and the nonsense about curing diseases is as old as movies are.

@@Koddy99 How did this happen exactly? Seems like a pretty basic thing to mess up. Was the trajectory automated and the system malfunction switched the destinations? Like one person just aim away from the earth and the other toward, there's no way the alien has extensive knowledge to control the astronaut's arm, figure out how to steer the pod while doing that, AND steer it toward earth (which it has no awareness of). Probably the destination switch during malfunction.

It would be pretty short to be honest. Right about 5 minutes after the fishing man opened the pod, Calvin would have been served on a plate with soy sauce and some egg fried rice.

There the alien is extremely intelligent it was trying to make sure David wasn't going to direct the alien to outer space but towards earth that's why it may latched onto his arm. The alien could of killed David off in the end but didn't there is a reason for that.

I absolutely loved the ending of this movie. I watched it with my dad and we were convinced with the ending, until they switched it right up with Miranda being the one to float into deep space. The screams, the reveal, the music, the shots, amazing. I personally liked this movie a lot. Even though some of their decisions were a little uhh... not-smart. But I think its the pressure of a friggin alien from mars tryna kill them imo.

Biggest plothole: calvin came from an extremely small sample of martian soil. Its safe to say they could have kept looking for more organisms in that same soil. So keeping calvin alive was pointless.
It's the only proof of life outside of earth in human history.

Calvin represents raw nature: it's wild, untameable and wont hesitate to use us as food.
When I saw this in theaters I missed the detail that the creature wasn’t destructive until the scientist caused it pain. At first I thought it was pretending to be curious or hadn’t realized whether or not the crew could be prey. On earth it would have probably recognized the destructive behavior of humans and killed the world anyway.
It’s also a look into human behavior in which we treat any non human as beneath us and experimenting and testing life like it’s a subject with no pain receptors or emotions. The humans in this case became the test subjects and prey. The death in which Calvin ate the crew member from the inside out would have been incredibly painful.
The most surprising thing about this movie is how early they killed off Ryan Reynolds

I remember being so hype when this movie was coming out but was disappointed when I saw it. It just seemed too smart like we were just watching someone playing a game they've played a thousand times and already knew exactly what to do and were just speed running through it.
Saw this movie in my final year at the University. I'm still waiting for the sequel - if they intend to make any.
The director of the movie already said there would be no sequel. He intentionally left it open ended to allow the moviegoers to come to a conclusion.

they didn't need to make a part 2, as the ending leaves a clear sense of doom...calvin gets out of the pod, and suddendly has an entire planet full of oxygen and life forms to feed and grow...he'll become enormous and destroy all life on earth..the only chance would be for nasa to contact governments and make them nuke the pod's landing site...sure, all the fisherman and the people in the area would die, but hopefully it'd also destroy calvin before he grows too powerful.

i enjoy scary movies, i watch them alone in the dark, never had a problem getting scared for shit whatsoever.. but saying this shit gave me nightmares is a understatement. just the thought of a living doomsday boom that kills everything just because its in its nature to do so, takes pleasure in doing it/torturing and killing its victims in the most gruesome way possible and can’t be killed and possibly brought to our civilization is terrifying as HELL. this shit to me is a perfect example of “somethings are best left unsaid.”

Calvin hunts my nightmares every now and then and it’s been 4 years since I first saw this movie. It’s one of these nightmares you can’t escape from. This is the most terrifying alien movie I ever seen in my entire life; and I’ve seen a lot.

I don’t think that’s the case since Calvin wasn’t hostile until the organism was shocked awake from its hibernation and then burned. If you were electrocuted by someone while you were in a deep sleep you would most likely be upset
