Bubble never goes flush against the book with cardboard over it. Cardboard first, then bubble around that. The way you're doing it creates space for damage.
It's my first time shipping a comic book and I had no idea how to! Thank you for this video I wanted to ensure my buyer was happy and you're advice is sure to help me accomplish that.
a sheet of bubble wrap between the 2 cardboard sheets??? that doesn't sound right to me.. I think it would be much better to have the comic/bag&board directly in between the two sheets of cardboard and THEN wrapped in bubble wrap, placed into the gemini mailer, and then put that into one of those thin flimsy waterproof flat rate envelopes and then put THAT into a legal flat rate envelope and boom that thing is ready for anything. for more expensive raw comics like $200+ I opt to use priority express
Saying that bubble mailers do nothing is dead wrong lol. You put the comic in with a piece of cardboard front and back as well as the bag and board it's in already and they work just as well as the option you provided if not better actually. If you know how the mail system works than you would know that bubble mailers go in different slots and areas than boxes. When you pack a comic in a box than it is MUCH more likely to end up damaged because that box is thrown right in with the other boxes and all it takes is one box that weighs a ton or has something sharp sticking out of it and now your perfect little box is smashed to pieces. At least bubble mailers will ride with other smalls and light items as opposed to having your comic potentially smashed to pieces by a box that weighs 80 pounds. I've shipped enough comics to know that bubble mailers work fine if you put a bit of care into it, saying that they do nothing is ridiculous.
@@TwoBrothersComics 100% agree with that, that's why you need to just use thick cardboard pieces front and back. Literally make the bubble mailer VERY difficult to fold at all. It acts as a deterrent to the mailer carrier to bend the mailer. I've had mail carriers that would attempt in bending a box just as well as they do mailers. Unfortunately with some mail carriers it just doesn't matter how well you pack something. In order to sell $10 or under comics though most people don't want to pay $9 for priority mail and again as long as the comic is packed well it doesn't matter how you do it but I do agree with you that if a comic is just whipped in a mailer and that's it than yes it will likely end up damaged from being mashed into a mailbox
Shut up. I'm so sick of people thinking two pieces of cardboard works. It doesn't. The books always come in damaged. Just spend the flipping dollar on the Gemini mailer and stop being cheap.
Where would you recommend getting the comic mailers? I've looked on Amazon and they're kinda expensive at least when you're looking at selling cheap comics just to make some space. I can't justify spending $2 on packing and charging $5-8 on shipping on a $1 book, lol. I would try selling in bundles/lots, but then I don't know how I would safely ship 10 or 20 comics together. Any advice?
Im so sick of people saying two pieces of cardboard works. It doesnt. I dont care if you're using bubble wrap with it or not. I just went through this again with a seller on ebay and he's getting negative feedback and will need to reimburse me. Just stop doing this. The Gemini mailer is the way to go. Stop being cheap. Spend the $1 for the Gemini mailer. One thing that never gets discussed is the direction of the corrugation on the cardboard pieces. People always put the corrugations perpendicular to the spine which provides ZERO protection for the spine. I see it all the time, and when I complain about spine damage, the seller always says the same thing, "I ship like this all the time and nobody complains". Well you're either lying, or the buyers are ignorant, or you're shipping books that already have spine damage so it's not noticed. If you're going to be a clown and use two pieces of cardboard, at least put the corrugations parallel with the spine so if they give, it just rolls the comic lengthwise which doesnt damage the book. But again, stop using this technique. Use Geminis. Its the only way you're guaranteed not to get negative feedback.
Full of Baloney. Obviously getting paid to advertise gemini product. I ship religiously with carboards and Manilla Envelopes & pack extremely well & receive fantastic feedback for my packing.. I have NEVER had an issue with comics arriving damaged & I have an EXCELLENT Seller Rating to this point & I've been selling for 15 years on & off. Not trying to throw shade on you brother but, I have no reason to lie.
Not getting paid to advertise anything and we still stand by manilla envelopes are a horrible way to ship comics based on our own experience receiving comics in manilla envelopes. The extra $.50 on packaging goes a long way
You're buying a $2 book online from the comfort of your couch. The seller is the one taking the time to hunt for books, buying shipping supplies, packing them up and driving to the post office. If shipping is too much, don't buy online. Put those $10 towards your gas and drive to your LCS.
@@WickedBuddhi It's not the cost of geminis. those arent expensive. But you have to take in accountability of tape, shipping labels and bubble wrap if you want to be taken serious. As well as gas for hunting books and shipping to the post office. Most sellers aren't pocketing the price of shipping. It's going to the supplies. Hence why a lot of ebay sellers will up the price on a book. So they can make their commission, as well as put a little bit of that cash towards more shipping supplies and pay their ebay fees. I just opened a package this morning, from someone that used 1 piece of cardboard and 2 backboards. It was a miracle that the book wasn't damaged. But he lost me as a buyer. I'd pay a little extra to make sure my book is protected.
@@TheShop90sKids I understand paying a little more. I use 11x8.75x2 literature mailers with bubble wrap. I usually sell lot listings but I don't charge the buyer for my supplies. I do free or $3 shipping. And you may scoff at the idea of Media Mail but I have not once had any issues with damaged material in 2 to 3 years of online sales. The cost of materials should never be passed onto the buyer. I don't mind taking a little loss for the cost of shipping. They are buying the book, not cardboard or bubble wrap.
Once again, how to mail comic vid that doesn’t mention, how to orient the cardboard sheet. Cardboard folds very easily one way and extremely difficult to fold the other way. I’ve had eBay seller put 2 sheets of cardboard but arrived folded cuz they didn’t orient the cardboard the correct way.
LOL what ebay buyer is going to pay priority for a 5.00 comic. you have how much in supplies lol the quality of the video is good but buddy if you are expecting that kind of service for a 5.00 comic then you need to go to your local store. Now if you are buying a 20.00 plus, ok, id go all out and maybe you are going to get someone to pay that $8.00 shipping youre referring to. This is not realistic for a basic comic.
Bubble never goes flush against the book with cardboard over it. Cardboard first, then bubble around that. The way you're doing it creates space for damage.
Dude, just stop. Shipping with cardboard pieces is stupid and doesn't work. I don't care what your excuse is. It doesn't work.
It's my first time shipping a comic book and I had no idea how to! Thank you for this video I wanted to ensure my buyer was happy and you're advice is sure to help me accomplish that.
COMICS sent via Media Mail is ILLEGAL.
I also put my gemini mailer in an oversized ziploc bag to protect from rain/water damage before putting in the flat rate envelope.
That's a nice touch!

Bubble mailers tend to get crammed into mailboxes and crushed... that's the big issue

@@TwoBrothersComics Where are you getting $.50? It's almost $50 for a stack of 25 Gemini?
I buy in bulk from a retailer. I'm paying about $0.48 a piece that way
Cowabunga bros 🤙 5k here we come 👊
So four pieces of cardboard got it! 😊
Here's another thing. Buy Gemini's and pass the cost onto the buyer. The buyer just loves paying $10 in shipping on a $2 comic.
