Lee and Kirby's run on FF was without question the most creative, influential comic book run ever. If you haven't read them yet, you won't be disappointed.
Correction.... five superheroes survived the transition. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Green Arrow. The latter two didn't have their own book, but continued uninterrupted in the pages of More Fun Comics and Adventure Comics.
Aris: We started a series that is running through the 4 ages of comics, The Golden Age, The Silver Age, Bronze Age and The Modern Age. Dark age: *Cries in Emo*
Thanks guys. As an eight year old I bought the first issue of Spiderman. I used to get a quarter allowance a week. I always bought two comic books-twelve cents apiece, and a caramel creme candy, called a bullseye, for a penny. I must confess, I didn't care all that much for Spiderman. I used to have a bit of fear of spiders. I think that's why I wasn't much drawn to him. Yuk yuk. Get it? Drawn to him? I liked the D.C. guys, especially Green Lantern. My friend Steve Jones however almost instantly switched to Marvel. He called Superman "super sickening. Ha ha. Hindsight being twenty-twenty, I should have moved heaven and earth to get my hands on as many of those Spiderman issues as possible.
These are fantastic. Thank you for giving me a resource to show my friends who have become comic book fans from the MCU a very well done and concise history lesson. Truly, thank you.
Such brilliant history of the silver age, the big boom of comic books, a whole of debuts and big hits for DC and Marvel. Looking forward to the bronze age video
The Doom Patrol, the Justice Leauge, the Teen Titans, Spider-Man, The Fantastic 4, the Avengers, and the X-men were all created in the silver age. They are my favorites!
I would like to thank Arris and the entire Varient crew because With all honesty,Varient has been the one thing next to my wife and kids that have kept me sane and going during this whole quarantine!.....thank you so much!...and please keep safe!..... EXCELSIOR!
i like how Arris Quinones talks and explains everything. the minute those 2 guys came into play this video i couldn't take more than 5 minutes of it. only my opinion no big deal
Crazy to think Batman wasn’t doing well at one point. I grew up LOVING this character, Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Batman Forever, those nineties cartoons got me into comic books. And the marvel movies revitalized them after graduating high school.
Stan Lee + Jack Kirby were a dream team powerhouse. You had untold imagination from Stan Lee with new characters like Spider-Man and then an unbelievable artist who created the blue print for comic artists to follow for decades to come with fluid 'animated' stills that invoked power and motion on a still page.
Gotta Say the Silver Age was awesome. It gave me 2 of my all time favorite heroes. Spider-man and the Hulk. But can't wait till the History of the Bronze premiers. That was my favorite era. Great stuff as always.
Guess we’ll just have to wait another six months for another awesome video like this. Really good job in explaining such a moment in history briefly and efficiently highlighting key parts of this comic age
I know this doesn't count but the late Alex toth creator of space ghost and Harvey birdman debuting in 1966 and 1967 respectively who are now icons via cartoon network/ adult swim
My childhood during the 60's and 70's was shaped by reading Marvel comics. Little did I know I should have kept better care of those early Silver age comics. Most of mine are well read and used. They have value as a reading copy but not as an investment book.
Why the age limit? Edit: Dude the kree/skrull war is.......over, they have formed and alliance and the cotati and hulkling is the emperor now.......you have to really make an episode on empire now!
I once watched a documentary that was included in the animated film the new frontier where they say that if it wasn't for jla than comics wouldn't be like it is now
Excellent video, well researched! I'd like to add a bit of information though, if you don't mind. In his book, "Origins of Marvel Comics," Stan Lee provided a lot of good inside information on how The Fantastic Four, the Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, Thor, and Dr. Strange came to be. In talking about the Hulk, Stan explained how they settled on gray for his color. But when the book came off the presses, Stan and others discovered to their chagrin that the Hulk's coloring was inconsistent - not only from page to page, but even from panel to panel. Sometimes, according to Stan, the Hulk came out light gray, while other times he appeared almost black. There were some panels where he looked green, and even in one panel appeared red. Stan's explained that his solution to the problem was to pick green for the Hulk's coloring, starting in issue 2 of his book, because it was the easiest to keep consistent, and because there was no major super hero at the time who had a green coloring. I'm not trying to be picky, - I just thought it would be interesting to bring to light another bit of history from the origins of the Marvel Universe. Keep up the good work guys. Cheers!
"The Beatles loved Marvel Comics!" Picture of Paul reading Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen. Lol
I was gonna like this but I will not be the guy that ruins the perfect like count
My super power? Think of clever thing to notice after someone else beats me to it.
I mean yeah, but Paul still wrote a song inspiered by the Xmen so i think its fair to say he liked marvel
@@davidbanan. In their song,"Bungalow Bill,"Captain Marvel is mentioned.:-)
@@richardranke3158 yeah, but that's John's'. Paul wrote Magneto and Titanium Man later with Wings.
I love how it's DC's trinity (Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman) that survived the Golden age of Comics.
20 years into the future: HISTORY OF PLATINUM AGE COMICS
Lol
Tinfoil Age
Platinum age will be remembered for its significance in pushing diversity for superheroes
The platinum age is regarded as the age before golden.
STAR PLATINUM: OAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!
Lee and Kirby's run on FF was without question the most creative, influential comic book run ever. If you haven't read them yet, you won't be disappointed.
Number 51 is perfect.
The Silver Age was pretty interesting. A lot of amazing characters we got from the Silver Age.
Is there a bronze age?
*Emo Peter Parker joins the server*
Are the bronze age andodern age the same thing
David AdventTime21 Yup. It’s right after the Silver age and before the Dark Age.
@@randomknowledgeperson2872 oh thanks can you say the years?
RIP Stan Lee. You'll be remembered for years.
Man I’ve been patiently waiting for this episode to come out. This is probably my favorite episode so far!
Hulk is the character that I love most. I am fortunate to have #6 of the original 6 issues.
Showcase 4 is the most important book of the silver age. Definitely a book I want in my collection
Thanks guys. As an eight year old I bought the first issue of Spiderman. I used to get a quarter allowance a week. Love the Silver Age for creating some of my favourite comic book characters of all time
These are fantastic.
This is my time. I was born in 1951 and had many of these comics. However, when we moved in 1969 , I lost most of them😥
Carmine did some great work...with The Flash....rest in peace

The 90's Liefield crash needs it's own segment!
The Silver Age Of Comics Was The Best Age Of Comics Because It Brought So Many Iconic Characters Especially Marvel

The Comic code need to come back. We saw how it worker wonders for the Into The Spider Verse movie
Can you do History of DC's Shining Knight and Marvel's Black Knight?
What an awesome and exciting age of comics: Ditko, Kirby, Stan... And shout out to Joan for her inspiring push!
Awesome!
So the hulk was also created because of Frankenstein?
....I think I now know why immortal hulk exists now.
Universal not Paramount released Frankenstein
Hulk is also based on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde because his nuclear anger is based on his good vs. evil personality.
Love the history especially as a new collector. it's great to get a background and reason to where we are today. Thanks as always!
Love the early Hal Jordan stories

The dude with the batman shirt is rocking a popular batman template that was used almost in every batarang scene of the 70s animated series
Love the history of videos! And excited to see two great channels collaborating!! Going to read those Green Lantern/ Green Arrow books now!
Thanks so much for the support.
It would have been great to have some from the 50's. I'm sure there's a box in an attic with these just waiting around.

The silver age set the comic world we know today even more than the golden age.
I love how they bounce off each other
You say the Beatles loved Marvel comics at 13:48. Paul McCartney is holding a DC jimmy Olson comic.🤣 I’m sure they loved both brands.
You forgot about the most influential comic of 1960
Tales to Astonish #13: The debut of Groot
Yall are incredibly talented story tellers!!❤❤❤
