Life has moments of happiness but for the most part it's hard, depressing, mean and cruel. It's certainly not for the weak especially when you get old.
I'm 46. The last time I felt happy was when I was 22. I like to think that someday I'll experience a little bit of happiness again but I really doubt it.
It's all about going through the motions....same motions over and over again..
Life has moments of pleasure. Happiness doesn’t exist.
Spend some time in nature. It's eat or be eaten. Humanity has done a good job of spackling over the raw reality of life, but its ferocity bleeds through.

Choose wisely. 46 is right around a crucial inflection point: 50 can be the new 37, or the new 70 and how you age has just as much to do with attitude as genetics and lifestyle.
What turned it all around for me was getting on Wellbutrin and deciding that life was something to be grateful for each day, not to treat as a sentence. When I learned to surround myself with positive and intelligent people, I came out happier than I ever was in my 20s.
And 99% of people just say that you are depressed if you talk these topics. They are in denial living in their own little bubbles.

Life sucks so much. Work and pay bills and eat is all it is.
we are factory farmed animals, confined to a job paying bills trapped no where to go but to repeat the same day over and over. our labor and our debt is what they are harvesting. we are all working so we can retire and get out of the factory and into the fenced in fields where we really aren't free after retirement because we gotten older and can't do as much anymore then we die. there are some lucky people who become financially free and retired early escaping the 9-5 debt slave hell where they get a good 20 to 30 years of real freedom but most will not be able to achieve this.
since i don't want to leave people in despair and if i were reading this i would want a solution to get out of the debt slave hell this might save some of you. bitcoin seems to be the best possible opportunity for anyone looking to retire early and exit the system. on bitcoin things will get cheaper and cheaper over time while in dollars things will get expensive over time. if you do the research on bitcoin and put alot of those inflated dollars into bitcoin you will get your chance at early retirement like me. i am very close to early retirement in my 20s and bitcoins price keeps going up over time which will set me free. its not easy and only 0.01% of people are saving themselves with this method but it will work. this is the sign to research bitcoin and become free

Some people just can’t take it and end it BUT we cannot simply give up like that especially if you have kids no matter how bad miserable depressing life gets we just have to move forward and endure it all for what!? I have no idea no one does but for whatever reason we just have to keep going and try to make the best of life and cherish every good moment or moments we get with our loved ones. And we just have to believe that we will truly be at peace once we move onto the after life.

I have heard Alan Watts say this in a lecture I watched last year. I couldnt agree more. Being alive is a treasure, for those who suffer from the beginning to the end.. it is a tragedy. An example would be a child born in Syria, who never has enough to eat, then dies of starvation at age 3... while we stuff our faces over here. This is not the fate of most all of us over here in the USA. Its too easy to have the outlook of Red leg Piper, where we think life is mostly suffering... is it really ? I dont feel this way. I am not suffering enough to think this way. I have no belief in any religion, especially Christianity . I make my way through this life like the rest of you do.

From what I read the point of the 1st noble truth is to you have to recognize suffering and find out why you are suffering. Once you see your suffering you are able to get rid of your suffering which is the next noble truth.

It's very interesting I'm seeing this because I have been thinking about my life lately. The older you get it's like the more you realize sometimes that you may have been better off if you weren't even born. You definitely have to be mentally strong to deal with all the things that will come your way in life even when you're trying to do your best. I really wish certain people would stop having children because they don't even set them up for a successful future.

Without being too "preachy," I will say that it is not pointless. I believe it is to prepare us for eternity and to learn lessons that you could not otherwise learn unless you live this life. This time we live now is a drop in the bucket of eternity. I love this topic because it's refreshing to know I'm not the only one who thinks of these things. How can we know love if we don't experience hate? How do we know what's good unless we see the evil? These are the things I believe we're here to experience. I never get angry at God anymore because I know he has my best interest at heart. I know he loves me because while I may not have blessings that others have, I also have blessings that others don't have. When I ask for strength, he gives me adversity to overcome and become stronger. As I get older, the Bible makes a lot of sense. I look at things differently and appritiate everyday more and more. I also noticed that once I came to God, my "suffering" lessened the more time went by. Bad things still happen to me in life, but I no longer view this as suffering. When unexpected or bad things happen, I know now that it is happening for a reason, and I am able to handle adversity 1000 times easier now. That's just my life experience. I hope it helps. My conclusion is that we are here for our souls to learn through pain and suffering. Nothing else really makes sense to me. Also, if we are being honest, nobody really learns anything through happiness and good times. If you speak to people who’ve had an easy life they tend to be very shallow and unaware. We are only reflective and forced to change when things are at rock bottom. Those are the people with the most character and depth to them

I feel your pain. Lost one I loved very much a couple years ago. They are like kids. You’ll be reunited with her one day. Some say pets won’t be in heaven, but I think they will be. God promises to wipe away all tears from our eyes, and I don’t think he’ll let even a single small detail go unaddressed. It will be even more of a reason to worship him and abound in his glory and power forever and ever.

Ive been questioning the state of the world and my existence ever since the day I became a man and stepped out into the real world in my late teens and I still question it all at thirty-seven. So much seems so backwards with what society values and what goes on in people's hearts and even more than that, this ingrained path of working yourself to the bone for nothing and relationships that seem more superficial than ever before, It reminds me of the three marks of existence and what I remember of it is "existence is suffering." I pray the afterlife is a breather from the stress of the real world because I see suffering everywhere these days.

I think and stress about this stuff just about every second of the day. I’m not just depressed and anxious with my own life but everyone in the world. I can’t even watch anything entertaining because it makes no sense that I can sit and watch football but someone in the world is dy!ng, struggling, hungry, lost a loved one etc. Everyone in my family is suffering in some way and I cry everday. Explained to a therapist I’m not bipolar, the way/state of the world has drained me since about 6 years old. I don’t enjoy much at all. 😢

I’m 38 and at this point in my life I feel life is pointless but it’s ok that it is. I’m not religious at all I see the random nature of life and have come to the conclusion that it’s not to be understood at all there’s no need for it I just accept the randomness of what life is and try to survive another day each day until I can no longer go on. It is what it is.
Im 36. Ive learned to just “let go” whatever happens is gonna happen. Try and have a good time, stay in decent shape. Have some friends. If ure lucky, maybe a good woman. Thats it. Fuck it.

We all ask ourselves that same question, why is there so much suffering in the world, and the answer comes down to mans rebellion against God starting in the garden. There was no death or suffering until man made a willful decision to rebel against God, and here we are. There will continue to be suffering and death until Jesus sets up his kingdom on the new earth, no more death, no more tears, no more pain, just paradise like it was in the beginning. Come soon Lord Jesus. Amen.

Ya know one thing that has always seemed a little unfair to me is that it wasn’t “mankind’s” rebellion against God! It was Adam and Eve’s rebellion against God! So because of what the first 2 human beings did at the beginning of time every other human being that comes after them for the rest of time has to suffer! It was Adam and Eve! Not mankind! I have experienced pain, sure, but without pain, then feeling good means nothing. THAT'S what is wrong with the younger generation, they want instant gratification, and zero pain, but then life is bland. Without lows you will never see highs.
If your happy place is the woods, then move to the woods. I cannot recommend it enough. As soon as I step outside of my door, I am camping. There was a wild horse in my yard half an hour ago. It's heaven on earth.

They told you need to finish uni, need to have better job, need to have cars, need to have girlfriend bla bla bla, but at the end of the day this doesn't help with anything. Throught years i realised that this world that we live is so bad, that i started calling it hell. Now it anoys me a lot when someone is telling - life is beautiful, bc it isn't at all. There's so much bs here, hate, violence, crime, politics, wars, pain, suffer - its so bad that there's must be something more after death. Bc if there isn't anything beyond that, i would prefer not to be born at all

I’m the same age as you. In my mid 30s I lost both my parents at the same time like Batman in a dark alley. Something happened to my outlook on life. I quit everything I hated. Found a career I can truly say I love and would die doing it. After that everything else fell into place. I noticed one of the first things you said was working a job you hate. Why? Make yourself happy at 6am by knowing your day isn’t a mental jail cell my guy. Results are amazing.
The struggles we have in life make us stronger for things to come. The Lord doesn't give you nothing you can't handle. The sacrifices we make ultimately make who you are. The world can be cruel, ugly, and full of EVIL. We must stand firm in our morality and faith. For the powere that are all around, want to break you down, but in the end, God has won. We just need to hold our ground. The beauty that is around us is undeniable. The interactions with our children and loved ones and how we handle ourselves in the midst of EVIL. Stand firm. Be grateful for the blessings we have. Live for the day because you aren't guaranteed tomorrow. God bless everyone. Be good to each other out there.
I have a theory that we are either in hell or in purgatory. I heard a quote once that said, "Hell is a place where there is no reason". Here on this earth we all question everything we do, our purpose, why things happen, etc, but truth is there isn't really an answer, just whatever it is we tell ourselves. You can be the worst person on the planet and live a life of luxury. You can be the nicest, kindest soul on the planet and live a life of absolute misery and have terrible things happen to you. It all happens at random and seemingly without reason. Despite me being someone who believes in God, I also believe we are here on our own if that makes sense. If you have money and time, you have the power to change the world for the better, or at least individual lives. From that comes purpose and meaning and those things are essential foundations for happiness.
I think somewhere along the way in this society, we're sold the lie that meaning and happiness is something that will be issued to us if we just do the right things, or that they are something we can buy.

A weird thought popped in my mind after fighting with demons within and this happened maybe 15 yrs ago, but I called it coping. What if, now get me..."the purpose of life is to make a life of purpose"!? Thinking that made me realize that my job, my REAL job is to simply work on myself through perpetuity. Be the best in every possible category as a man, a father, a son, a brother, a friend, a human...be kind, compassion, kindness, generosity and push for hope through action for others. Give others hope by your time given in active pursuit of becoming better by being better for others. That thought has helped me, because prayer, church, fasting, none of that ever brought any peace, NOTHING. Just the quoted thought above. So hey, its essentially what you spoke of in this video. Perpetual progression.
I think you're really onto something with this. Depression is the ultimate form of navel-gazing and self absorption. It leads you to think that nihilism is some deep form of wisdom and The Way Things Really Are.
It's nonsense of course. When your mind becomes a house of horrors and distorted mirrors of the self, it's time to get out of your own head and to live for something bigger than yourself.

I found this Swedish dead person method, where you imagine you've died and other people have to empty your apartment or place. You basically get rid of most stuff. I got rid of 100 books, emptied drawers, emptied boxes on the attic, threw away stuff etc etc.
That process isn't finished, but boy I already got rid of so so much stuff! Next thing is old clothes! Feels so good!
If you are a Christian you need to understand life is not about you. Its about christ and teaching others about Christ. You feel dark inside ? Do little good things to others you'll be surprised how much better you feel. Don't be selfish be selfless...

In his later years....Sigmund Freud admitted that he felt he went in the wrong direction. He said if he had it to do over again---he would have taken his philosophy in the direction of his friend CARL JUNG---as it has more relevance and truth. Just as quantum physics has revealed many of truths that are missing from the classic Newtonian physics that we were all taught.

As for Freud, I would like to know where he said that Jung's approach was better than his own theorizing of the human psyche. Besides, Freud's works are still relevant, and there are still many Freudian thinkers and many Freudian therapists around the World. Lastly, the Jungian theory does not encompass, nor falsify, the Freudian theory. These are two different theories, with their own levels of relevance. And there are many other theories which also shed light on human behavior. ^^ There is not one single truth in the realm of psychological / behavioral theorizing ^^

For me, I'm living out my purpose which is to help others. I'm a Therapist. But I've been single and divorced for 9 years. I just want a companion. I have no one giving me love- I give ....but I need someone to love too and to receive. It gets really lonely sometimes. Stay strong folks.
One philosophy is: He who dies with the most toys wins. My purpose in life is to work hard, make a difference, provide for my family, and love and protect the people I care about. If it was a thousand years ago I would be too busy scratching out a living to contemplate the deeper meaning of life. We have more material wealth and individual power than anyone else in the long history of man. Look at the good things you have, drink in the beauty of the world, and marvel at the miracle of the love you have for others and the love they have for you. What else could you possibly want?
To add to it, you have people who dont care who they hurt. They throw people away like nothing. Everyone in this world has pain and suffering. But we selfishly continue to add to people's pain. Instead of realizing, we can be kind and still let go of people. Give people more worth and value not pain and hurt.
i feel bad for animals in nature .
I mean the animals in nature make me question the creator of this existence. Animals are created to need the flesh of other animals, it’s pretty sick.
They probably feel bad for us. They would find it mind boggling that we could have all of the food we ever need and every material need met and still be unhappy.
No creature appreciates life so much as a wild animal who lives each day at the edge of death.
I recently witnessed a bird that visited my yard for a long time get preyed upon, screaming in agony. That little bird would often sit with me and attempt to communicate with me, or watch what I was doing. Nature is no more noble than humanity - it's just as f***ed. Think of the immensity of suffering throughout the entire history of life - and still no clear point to it.
@@kenofken9458 explain this. Every living being has the biological instinct to stay alive, but it is hard to measure if they appreciate life more. Do you think a typical prey animal is going to be more happy with its existence than the average human being? I don’t think so.
If they do appreciate life more, that is only because we have a biological instinct to keep living and they are the most on the edge of becoming dead fairly easily, and this death will come with a lot of pain most likely.
They only need to appreciate this realm because they were brought into this realm and trapped here. I think knowing they will have to be trapped in this realm, I’m sure most wild animals given the choice and the wherewithal would choose to be a human at the top of the food chain versus their current existence.
@@trademisconception9816 Of course one can't realistically project human sentience and thought processes onto other animals, but I do think human introspection has a real downside in that we can navigate our way to unhappiness even when there is no external objective problem in our lives.
So far as I can tell, that is a uniquely human ability, and a most wretched one.
Every animal I've kept or observed closely, when it has a comfortable living environment, enough food, sufficient companionship as their species understands it, they are, if not "happy", certainly content.
There is purpose once you undertake actions of contribution especially innate to your uniqueness. "Pain and suffering" mostly arises when heeding the agendas of others incessantly and resisting the necessary risk for actualizing the self. A state of victimhood can arise when making every attribution outwardly. I recommend the book "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle for those who are feeling despair and are looking to lose the dread.
Why are we here? To be the rose poking through the concrete. To manifest beauty in a sea of ugliness.

I met Jesus in my dream and it felt like peace and joy in his presence and it truly felt like an after life. I believe it whole heartedly because, I was completely healed and now I continually seek the gospels word because it offers peace.

This is why men need a relationship with their creator and express appreciation and gratitude for its hand in their life. You either choose the pain and suffering face it with humility and grace let it mold you into a better man , or try to avoid it in defiance and resistance to no avail and be the victim damaged by it.

This is why exercise is very important, a really hard workout will get your mind of all the negative things, it changes you physically and mentally, I have some debilitating injuries but I still atleast try to workout once or twice a week for my mental health.

I subscribed to you, I liked the part about self-improvement and agree generally with your assessment on life, I was a a very genuine believer but I lost my faith and have not been able to get it back god may or may not be there but the only prayer I can muster is that I won't wake up anymore.
Please don’t listen to the negative comments. Just because we are in a country that gives us better opportunities… doesn’t mean we are absent from pain. We didn’t choose where we were born. We need to help the people who need shelter, food, water, clothing and medical. But we will still have pain. Life is moments of happiness / sadness and every other feeling. There is only one thing that can truly bring peace on this fallen world . A relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is my only hope. Nothing will be right until he is here. No politician or billionaire will save our country or the world. Our lives are so we can grow closer to Christ. Even if we have a relationship with Christ we will still go through hard times. He never promised us an easy life after being born again. But it is way better to go through this life and hardships knowing Jesus Christ than to go through it yourself.Im still learning. I fall so short and I have taken my hand off the plow. But I must put it back on the plow, and turn my eyes back to the lord. The Bible says a just man falls seven times and gets back up. Get up and gaze back at him….Pick up your cross and follow him.

What really bothers me is the fact that if you take away all the pain, yet and still we have no idea why were here. We have no idea what this is all about. Werejust here and go through all this random stuff and were gone.

I’m a believer in Jesus but I’ve been so angry at God for months. I hate suffering and living in this life. When evil people get more blessed than me and I try and live right. I’m beyond over everything.
I went through deconversion from Christianity the same time I got Red Pilled. It was a double whammy. I recently divorced from a marriage that didn't last long and quite frankly shouldn't have happened. My former wife became a Christian three years ago. I used to be a steeply trenched evangelical from age 19-33. I'm back in my family's lutheran church now. I'm still struggling with weather to believe some of the compelling arguments atheists have to say or my Christian friends I still have. I just know religion fucked me up really bad. Yes, I know. I said the same thing but in my case I was fortunate enough to read the bible and find all answers I was looking for. Life does not end at death.
We suffer because we dont appreciate life. When were laying on our own death beds seem to be the only time we see life as great and beautiful. The moment we beg god to give us more time. All of a sudden life is no longer suffering and pain. It becomes something you would give up everything for.

Life sure is pointless. with all of it's pains , hardships and rejections. I'm currently 33 years old. Feel a lot older. I always dwell on the facts. that I'll be working till I drop. I'll never be able to own my own house unless I get two jobs or being able to retire. If I should get really sick. I will have no one care for me when I get older and can't take care of myself. cause I can't seem to find a good woman. and any woman i try to get to know. Hoping something happens. I get rejected.
