Oooooh those mitts look terribly cozy! And I love the embroidery, both on the mitts and the work bag!

      Thank you so much!
Yeah, Pip is pretty awesome, though she thinks she can beat up the Boxer next door (or any animal for that matter). She's lucky he's really mellow and old because she would be a morning snack for him! :-D

I LOVE these. I am an okay seamstress, but an excellent embroiderer. These are beautiful. Your stitches are well done. I was wondering why you didn't use a hoop to embroider, would it damage the wool? You're brave to cut the wool, I'm terrified when I do those kinds of things!

Thank you, that means a lot!
There are actually two reasons I didn't use a hoop. The first one is that I've never really learned to use them, and I'm usually more comfortable not using them. The second reason is because the wool was cut on the bias so the mitts have some stretch. I didn't want to possibly distort the fabric in the hoop.

Thank you! She's a sweetheart! I wish we could have cats, too, but Todd's super allergic.

I am too making a pair of these mitts. I had plan to go about attaching the thumb differently. I thought the thumb goes on then put the mitt on and pin baste. Huh now I am rethinking my aproach.

I would have thought that too, but I watched Jess' live stream with Noelle from Costuming Drama last summer. It was really helpful!

i've got the supplies to try to learn to embroider, just haven't really sat down to it yet. i've been watching some seamstresses doing the hand sewing portions of their projects and they use beeswax to help the thread not to tangle, so i bought some. do you think that would be a good thing to try with embroider to eleviate some of that twisting and tangling?

I'm not sure beeswax would be beneficial for silk threads, but I don't have enough experience to know for sure.
When hand sewing, beeswax is used to help strengthen and condition linen and cotton threads.

@@Midlife_Manical_Mayhem Me, too! I always just used the standard polyester sewing thread because I didn't know there were other options!
