Its an automatic with 289 and a Holley 2 barrel carb and nothing else as......I couldn't afford much in high school. Later I got an 89 fox body gt and sold the 65 to my father to get money for the fox. He still owns it and it sits in his garage untouched since I last drove it.....20 years ago. I think he is saving it for me but has never even mentioned it.

I'm not a big Ford fan, however, this video, imo, is the epitome of kid buys first car and does all the work himself, with help but learning hands on is just awesome story. I can relate bc I did alot what this guy did when I got my first car. Wish I still had it today but the experience is what turned me into loving older muscle cars and working on them and rebuilding etc. Unfortunately, it became to expensive a hobby and the responsibility of taking care of a family came first.
I love videos like this especially. I love this channel and it's content. U do fantastic job of finding awesome rides with awesome back stories. I love great back stories especially with such beautiful cars ntm when a story comes along and it really resonates me and brings back memories of me, a 16 year old kid going to school then working after school, working weekends etc and making time to work on my car. I loved it and doing most of the work, what I could do by myself and learning hands on was such gratification. It was definitely good time in my life plus racing on the strip on a Friday or Saturday night was the ultimate.

Love the content Shawn! This car, owner, and video are just as interesting, if not more so, than a lot of the top dollar builds you feature.

The green is like you said, classic! My uncle has the original green ‘69 Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet. Love the ruggedness and just the muscle car look. Great feature!

Flashback to 1973, when I got my first car, a 289 4-speed '68 GT/CS. Zero-lash hydro cam, twisted Torker intake, headers, 4779 Holley, Accel, Mcleod, Ansen clamp-ons, 4.11's at freeway speeds. Under-dash Lear Jet 8-track, Jensen tri-axials, blue shag carpet, rosewood door panels, 5-pane Wink mirror, Barefoot pedals. Sadly, I'm the only left on TH-cam that knows what any of this is.

@@Mick_A_Knuckle Thanks, Mick! There was a comp shop near me name Road And Competition Engineering (R.A.C.E.) that built 289 and Boss 302-powered Mustangs for SCCA road course racing at venues like Riverside. They did my machine work and other stuff. Very hardcore people. The number of Shelbys and Bosses they hacked into comp cars would make most purists these days faint dead away.
