Wow. I commend you for creating your own game. That's really cool. I'll be adding Crypt Crawler to my cart as well. Seeing the big yellow key on the map cards reminds me of the old Atari 2600 game Adventure.
This is definitely a deep dive into your list! I enjoyed it a lot, as it is nice to hear so many different thoughts about each game. I found your channel after searching for Rogue Dungeon, and I have been thinking about picking it up. It was a bonus with Dust Runner, Tin Helm, and Iron Helm! Keep up the great work!
@@dankone1289 Waiting too, the game is great and the descriptions of the expansions are very interesting, kind of exciting and should really add to the replay ability-- which is off the charts to start with!
I can agree with on your number 1. Lots of depth and challenge in a small package. Love the art too, very charming retro aesthetic vibe. By far my favorite purchase of 2024! Can’t wait to see what you come out with next.
I think I'll likely get around to making a bigger game at some point. I'm just extremely into mint tin game design. The limitation breeds creativity. I like having a limit to what I can fit in the tin. It makes me think outside of the box and get really creative with how to make an experience that feels big but fits in a tiny box.
I can add time stamps. I hesitated to do so because I didn't want to spoil any of my picks and I'd prefer that people actually watch the video rather than skip straight to the number one pick.
@@kosterix123 Hope you're joking, 'cause Game Knight is anything but unfriendly and your short sighted comment is kind of snarky and certainly out of place.
Concerning the Iron Helm loot problem you talked about: can you mix in all the expansions at once, or do they have to be added incrementally? Your review has worked as planned. I am on the Game Crafter putting Iron Helm in my cart.
There are some expansions that can be mixed in with the base game, namely Loot and Lore, the Fanny Pack, and the iron chest expansion. The other expansions are mini adventures that you play one at a time by adding their cards to the base game. I’m glad you got the game! I think you’ll really enjoy it! 🎲🗡🛡
Hey Game Knight, couple of comments Starting with Desolate and Dust Runner, Desolate was in fact Jason’s first “choose or skip the first card, resolve the second”. He said in a video he was working on Iron Helm, and he wanted to try the mechanic on a basic level in a game. About Dust Runner, when I started watching your channel, Desolate and Dust Runner were my least favorite video playthroughs. For me, the games just seemed boring, they both had something about the mechanics/ gameplay that didn't seem entertaining. Still, I ended up buying Desolate because the pnp was cheap, and I loved the game so much I immediately bought Dust Runner and loved it even more. I would say I like it almost as much as Tin Healm/Realm. I've bought the fiscal or done PNPs for almost all the games on your list. Lost Rubies of the Amazon and Crypt Crawler are supposed to get here tomorrow. Mini Moons still on the way. And I'm on the fence about Hope of the Stranded, maybe I'll get it in the TGC January sale. Great list, I agree with you on almost everything about the games I've played. Happy holidays! Keep the videos coming.
I'm so glad that you gave Desolate and Dustrunner a chance! They are both fantastic games and well worth the purchase, in my opinion. Once you sit down and actually play those games, it starts to click. That is awesome that you're getting Lost Rubies and Crypt Crawler soon! You're going to have a blast with both of those! Dude, Hope of the Stranded is SO good! I love it. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but what is? I think you'd dig it if you gave it a go. Thanks so much for the great comment and for the continued support!
My mini moons game came shipped from and packaged just like my other mint tin games with a mat from the game crafters. I'd be surprised if they didn't produce them as well as distribute them.
… this is how a top 10 is done! I agree with #1, a great game with tons of depth & replayability in a mint tin🤘Kudos to the other 9, games everyone should have in their collection. Appreciate the effort put into this 🙏
I dunno if I just got unlucky, but I have tried tons to get that list to close to no avail. One of the GC larger tins would have been nice for future reference. Plus could have kept the 12mm dice. Love the game. Storage is just not optimal and the tiny dice are just not satisfying to roll. Had to put it all in a clear deck box. I think there is just some possible variation in GC production.
I understand where you're coming from. I'm currently working on an expansion for Crypt Crawler and I plan to release it in a tall tin so that the base game cards can be combined with it. Again, I didn't personally have too much trouble getting it all to fit in the normal size tin, but once I sleeved it, it wouldn't fit; hence the included pouch. My goal was to release a tin game in the normal sized tin. I debated using the tall tin but I didn't want to compromise on my vision and I was able to get everything to fit in the normal tin, although very snuggly. I appreciate your support!
#1 is totally justified. Great game. Regarding loot in Iron Helm becoming kinda meh once you find the items you like: I know you don't really care for the beat-your-own-score aspect and prefer win/lose, but all the extra loot and gold contributes to your score at the end of the game. If you don't care about keeping score, then that's not gonna help, but it's one way someone might look at it that would make finding mediocre loot feel less bad.
That's a great point. You're right; I usually don't care much about scores in games. I'll try to keep that in mind but chances are it won't change things for me too much. Regardless, you know how much I love Iron Helm. If it wasn't for Crypt Crawler, Iron Helm would have made the number 1 spot. I need to give Mizlak another go some time soon; that's the ultimate Iron Helm challenge.
It's been on my list of games to check out. There are so many games and so little time. I'll get around to it one of these days because I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Awesome! I appreciate it, dude!
Sheesh, 3 hours video. Christmas came early this year.

Rogue Dungeon is an awesome game. Order it-- you won't be disappointed.
@ I was waiting to see what kind of deals they had when they launch the expansion Kickstarter.

curious what you could do with an iron helm size game

+1 for the algorithm. I don't mind luck very much in game. It's like life, best laid plans and all that.
Thanks :)
Awesome list, friend! Videos like this one make the whole journey worth it :) and definitely agree with #1! been playing so much CC.
Thanks, bro! I’m glad you’re enjoying Crypt Crawler! 🥳🎲🗡🛡
This is a great video! But given its 3 hour length, it would have been nice to have time stamps. :)

Iron helm may have started your solo gaming journey - but your channel started mine! Love your videos!
That is so cool, man! Welcome in! 🎲🗡🛡

You’re correct. I found out after filming the video that TGC produces and distributes Mini Moons.

I think Dungeon Flee might also be considered as a contender on this list.
I do enjoy Dungeon Flee, but not as much as the games on my list.
#1 is totally justified. Great game.

I'm liking DustRunner because it reminds me of an old 80s rpg I used to play called Car Wars by Steve Jackson Games.
When I think of Crypt Crawler, I also think of the 1975 Genesis song, The Carpet Crawlers.
Actually, the 1999 version is better.
Thanks for the shortest game award, lol! I agree with your number one choice. Crypt Crawler is so much fun!
Thanks, bro! 🎲🗡🛡
h'oh boy lemme go get some lunch and get comfy
You obviously discovered Jason Glover this year
I discovered solo player games in general this year. It’s been a really fun journey!
Wow no final girl huh I’m actually quite suprised.
I haven’t played Final Girl. Maybe it will make my top 10 list for 2025. 😃
@ definitely should it’s a fantastic game.

Have you played the royal game of ur
I have not. Isn’t that a two player game though?
