you'd think he's just another quirky old gnome, but then shows you he's cunning. you'd think you could easily beat him in a fight, but then he's a werewolf. You wouldnt take his art seriously but then he shows you 400+ years of craftmanship. I love that Chetney Pock O'Pea is the David Bowie of woodcraft in Exandria and im here for it!
I mean yeah, like Mat said in one of the 4sided dives: Chetney is so sold thst he went full circle. From young and stupid, to mature, to wise and then back to stupid and feral. But he is still al of that and more. He is also hemamancer wich is very rare.
Man can't believe Chetney has gotten such a devoted fan club that didn't come from a Faustian bargain with an Archfey. I'm sure nothing hilarious will come of it.
The b plot of this episode being Robbie making his dice structures, Liam noticing, taking a picture, and telling Laura, then Laura creating her own dice structures, Robbie noticing, and then Marisha and Travis, Travis traying to make the table move to drop all the towers, failing, one of Laura's towers falling on its own and 7 of 8 players trying not to laught while the 8th and the DM are still playing the actual game. Perfect! It keeps going! Now Ashely tried to make Robbie's structures fall, she missed, then Sam tried to add to one, Matt finally noticed! Ashely tried again... they fall!! On their own! XD
Dorian's speech means everything to me. Robbie is such a brilliant storyteller. 1:38:46 The first part of Dorian's speech, you can hear the anxiety. There's that bit of stuttering and you're not quite sure where he's going with this. 1:40:24 When Cerkunnos called him out from his deflection, Robbie starting to paint this beautiful imagery of summoning Coriolis, the great equine dragon from their familial history. And the intensity of his voice on how his heart yearns to make a difference 😢
One thing I'm curious about Dorian's part is that Matt didn't let him roll Persuasion after the 1st speech. I wonder if he either thinks Robbie could do better than that or he just wanted Cerkunnos to speak to pay tribute to Robbie's performance for him on LOVM-which ended up in him, not expecting Robbie to conjure such magical imagery. 😅
Braius when following the Bells: "Well, I guess I'll see where this goes." Braius internally when he's confronted by the head of his former religion: *"Oh shit oh shit oh shit-"*
I love that Sam keeps bringing up that he's been with them for, like, a day and a half. Braius is like if you crossed Arkhan with Taryon: Badass Paladin of an evil God whose morals are questionable at best, but also a pompous chode who is deeply insecure and kind of pathetic.
40:35 I like to think that Ash's occasional pop culture jokes like referencing things then saying it was a play, is something to do with the probability fractals in their brain letting them understand things past the fourth wall subconsciously.
Making references in character and saying it was a play is great. One of my parties kept referencing Scoobus Doobus as a famous play and my dm decided to make it canon when describing a torn poster when we entered a vampire infested city.
Finally. I have had this theory since episode 1 that Scanlan was somehow involved with the rouge furniture in Marquet. Being that he ran a counterfeit furniture business. Scanlan is a C-Pop counterfeiter. Calling it now.
Did they change much with the LOVM? I'm hesitant to start it because I absolutely loved the original campaign. I'm guessing it's really good from what everyone is saying
@@buddybleeyes There are some things they don't cover and a lot of things are in the "wrong" order for the sake of adapting it to TV in a more satisfying way, but it's very good and faithful to the spirit of the material. If you want an exact 1 to 1 it's not going to be exactly what you are looking for, but what you are looking for isn't really possible. It's more concerned with hitting all of the important story beats and making character arcs satisfying than it is with following what happened precisely but I think everything that was genuinely changed was good. The main divergence is that it it starts with an adventure that actually happened before C1 started streaming and kind of skips over the Kraghammer stuff for the most part. We actually get to see VM relatively close to the start of their journey as opposed to right in the middle of it.
"We all know we have the coffers." says Vex'ahlia as a little part of her soul dies. Also I love the fact that she had to accentuate the fact that they defeated Vecna and saved Vasselheim, because everyone was apprehensive of the idea of Vox Machina attacking the Malleus Keep. And if that did not change their minds, they also beat 4 Ancient Chromatic Dragons and Brimscythe, as well as a Necromancer and her Vampire Husband. I think they'll be fine.
Anybody else want to see an updated intro movie? I want to see an updated one so badly, lol. Otahon dead, FCG's fragments, Delilah trapped, the red moon's surface, Chetney the world's greatest woodworker, the Primoradial Titan forms, so on and so forth.
Omg yesssssss that would be so cool. But you still gotta appreciate the hard work that was put into the current animation. Everytime I see it I giggle and kick my feet, they look so badass.
You know in a video game when you pick up a bunch of new supplies and health potions and then you get worried about what’s in the next room? Yeah that.
Veil Mistress of the Shadow Tree, and Exaltant Hope of the Red Storm. Those are some of the most badass titles I’ve ever heard. Man, how far Laudna and Imogen have come.
once created a spoof of Friar Tuck from Robin Hood to help a dnd campaign as their cleric was taking a break for a short time my title was Friar Chunk and my title was Welcome Friar Chunk legendary purveyor of Chunk Mead and Other Spirits
Gotta say, i love the way that Matt very clearly but also very covertly made sure everybody did a roll in the first half. Everybody had to do something in the talk, had to present their case. But because the conversations and the people raising questions made sense, it was just seamless. It was just so great
I appreciate matt keeping his players characters relevant. Someone like Chetney could have easily died early and just been a joke. so glad he keeps getting more backstory.
"That's from my oblivion edition.... If you twist it a certain way, it reveals that which is most precious" The way they ended that sentence the same way sent me 💀 Matt you quick beast
To people who wanted to see some details on Braius and Dorian's new weapon / armor: Braius' Truthbearer +2 to AC + 20 Points to Lay on Hands Braius now has 85 points Can impose disadvantage on enemies attacking allies within 5 feet of the Wearer --- Dorian's Gambolcleft the Vortex Blade + 3 to Attack and Damage 18+ Regain a Bardic Inspo. Deals Double Extra Damage from Blade Flourish On a successful strike the wielder can move 15 ft and do an additional attack at disadvantage but if he hits he can just keep attacking, ergo, the ability procs until he misses seemingly due to the Wind spirit living within the sword for one round regained on a (*short) rest. *short rest as per CR Cooldown
Dorian's blade so OP, damn. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) 3 of the choices that Dorian has for Greater Steed, he can knock enemies prone, which can offset the disadvantage aspect of the sword (if he chooses those mounts) He also works very well with Orym and Braius who can make enemies prone or give disadvantage to enemies. The only thing Robbie needs left is sheer luck
@@the-truestblueyou are correct, but remember that the balance of homebrew items must be considered only in the home they are played in, they are not pubblished items in a book. Robbie is not a powerplayer, will 99,99% not start to combo evey damn encounter. And will not sell or gift the sword, since it is linked to his family story. Also he is a bard, not a barbarian or a warrior or a paladin... going melee with things has a very high risk for him, always, which fits an higher reward. Remember in campaign2 Cadeceus was given a very op staff for melee. But he was Caduceus, he used to bonk people like... twice?
@@boniakarloI mean, I never said Robbie would/should go crazy on the whole thing (or even sell or give away his sword). I just think it's neat on what he can possibly do. (And if there's restrictions, then that's cool) From the few battle sequences I've seen from him, he's a clever player. He knows when to use his skills and spells when absolutely needed (ex. Like using the dimension door to keep Orym out of harm when he had no heals left, or his dissonant whispers moment from EXU). So, yeah. I agree he's no power player, and he's already brilliant in the style he's doing.

Hello friends! Please enjoy these callowmoore timestamps. 40:43 Fearne and Braius talk about what she got up to with Ashton last night (Taliesin is delighted) 1:28:26 The Titans step forward 3:17:15 From stealing trinkets to stealing kisses (that ring sure is handy!)
I already loved Robbie, but that little clown nose moment made me melt. What a great episode! it had drama, and majesty, and comedy... I'm so happy to be around for this
First half: epic speeches, well-deserved titles, and a collection of heavy figures that made their mark since Campaign 1, 2, and now 3. Second half: emotional rollercoaster of drama, intrigue, and an unforgettable comedy towards the end (long live CPOP!) This episode is one for the books! This is Dungeons and Dragons!!! Great job everyone! All critters are fat with lore and roleplay ❤
When I tell you I cried when I realized they were going to play VM and MN in game again it's a fucking understatement. I full on fucking bawled. Hundreds an hundreds of hours I've spent with those characters, they were my introduction to a game that changed my life. And I'm catching myself daily just randomly grinning thinking about it all the time!
This guy was Chetney's fan for years. It hasn't been years since he made the deal. Morrigan used her influence over fate to manipulate the time itself for this.
Ashley has the best laugh dude. The “guy who makes chairs” moment was just so freakin good. She has the most sincere, child-like, genuinely joyful laugh. Thank God for these clowns
May I just say, that for me as a Christian, Ashton is my favourite character this season and it's not even close. "I don't serve any God, I serve the weak, the forgotten, I serve the dirt beneath our feet" is one of the best things Taliesin has done, it's up there with "I wish for you that you would find someone who will mounr you when you are gone". I would put it like this, Ashton is the least churchy, yet the most spiritual member of the group. Their love and kindness is what the priests of Vasselheim should be instead of playing with themselves in their ivory towers. Orym could be seen as the most upright member of Bells Hells but he is loyal to his family. Ashton has a deep solidarity with everyone and a universal disdain for injustice that makes them the most spiritual in my book, even if they are opposed to any church
I really like that take. Ashton has more honest devotion to his principles and his friends than many who have made following a deity a career. I feel like instead of doing a 180 from the path he'd been on, he chipped away at the parts of him that didn't fit so he could gradually become a better version of himself. If he knew of a god who shared his ideals and actually followed through with them, he'd probably be all in, but the gods have a tendency to be fickle and petulant or secretive and unhelpful.
I love this!! I like that you outlined how spirituality doesn’t necessarily come from organized clergy. And how compassion is just as- if not more -important as devotion when it comes to the service of good.

Lady Fearne Calloway, Fey Scion of the Ancient Flame Lauda, Veil Mistress of the Shadow Tree Ashton the Reforged, Hammer of Paradox Chutney Pock O' Pea, High Hunter and Lupine Paragon Dorian Storm, Master Muse and Son of the Wind Imogen Temult, Exaltant Hope of the Red Storm Orym of the Air Ashari, Savior Blade of the Tempest Braius Doomseed, Ascent Might of the Platinum's Call
1:14:02 Travis throws his full support behind his friend with “GET ‘EM RIEGEL!” Almost exactly 40 seconds later, Sam proves his place under a betrayer god with “… and a guy that makes chairs…” in regards to his description of Chetney, just taking the wind right out the sails of Travis. ABSOLUTELY SAVAGE!
Let's not forget the brood pit that was given to Ashton and Imogen by All-Minds-Burn! I've been wanting to know for a while now what that seed would do if it was planted on the moon after all! I hope they use it 😆
It makes me wonder if the weave mind and all minds burn are, or started, as one and the same. Like weave mind started as followers of the all minds burn and keep that connection and grew it on Ruidus or was it exactly backwards. Or even did Ludinous fail in making the bridge but brought down a part of the weave mind instead, still a win for him yet at the same time half a fail.
So many great moments in this episode. I cant honor them all in my comment. - Everyones speeches at the council. Especially Ashtons. - Dorian going from deflecting to full confidence. - Titles! 2:33:28 I remember reading in Twitch chat that if he just broke the holy symbol, the rust wouldn't be on the freshly broken edges when the High Bearer inspected the symbol I thought that was a very unique perspective because it definitely could've hindered the attempt
Plot twist on a plot twist: Braius is not actually a herald of Asmodeus and isn’t actually being granted paladin magic from him. BUT! He *is* actually receiving divine power from the Platinum Dragon, who still watches over him even though he lost his faith.
I thought Paladins get their power from Believing Real Hard In Something™ and no God actually has to be involved? Then again I don't play DnD so that might be wrong xD
@Draedaja it's something that depends on the edition as well as the world the story takes place in. I believe both can be the case in exandria, but I might be remembering wrong.
I would buy that except for the whole slaughter and flaying of that dude he made into a cup. P Dragon doesn't strike me as the kind of deity who would take kindly to that
I ADORE how robbie plays dorian and its surprising he's a new-ish dnd player. He genuinely doesnt speak much or is very boisterous (on purpose) which sells the bard with stage fright like nothing else, but he does accidently gets his moments of shine when he's the most honest and loyal. He doesnt open his mouth a lot but when he does its always a masterpiece ❤
The fact that neither the bright queen nor the Dwendalian representatives mentioned the mighty nein brokered the peace between the two nations seems a missed opportunity to hype the nein
I don't know that I've laughed that hard in a long time. I'm just glad that, by the end, they were taking the guy seriously. There's a lot to admire about woodcraft, after all 😌👏🏾✨
This'll go down as 1 of my all time favorite episodes in all of CR Edit: Also, I have a strong feeling Imogen is being played HARD by her mother. Just seems too convenient that she is all ready and willing to be giving up Luda at this point. I ain't buying it
@@jaihottes2450 Yeah, I thought about that as well. But Liliana is herself a very powerful and charismatic magic user, who's under the employ of possibly the most powerful magic user on Exandria. If she truly believes in the cause, she might be convinced that is the best way to keep Imogen safe. Not saying it's a given but I have strong suspicion. Also, Mercer can't be trusted 😆
Actually I wouldn’t put it past Luda to feed everyone around him false information, plant spies at the places he specified he’d meet people at, and then see who leaked the information by seeing where hells bells shows up at. I see this going downhill for her mother so fast.
If you work remotely and listen starting from Campaign One 9am-5pm, 5 days a week, it takes you about one and a half years to catch up with them. I have cried and laughed so many times at work because of these people. Thanks for all the emotion.
Oh yes - I hear you! I've enjoyed CR since the start of streaming, but due to lengthy illnesses - fell behind on occassions. It took dedication to catch up (not complaining!). When I was too ill to play my own D&D, CritRole was the next best thing for me. I feel affection, sympathy & care for the CR cast, just like I do for good friends. Strange, considering I've never met these folks in person, but I'm sure Critters will empathise. I am very thankful that CR has become a massive success - and I hope we get to enjoy their gaming with them for years to come 🙏
I have seen some discourse that campaign 3 isn't as great as 1 or 2 for CR but MAN. POP CON?? His Oblivion era?! And spin the bottle last episode? Are you freaking kidding me?! 😂❤ I don't know about y'all but I freaking love it here. It's been such a good time to be a nerd
People like to be haters 😂❤ honestly campaign 2 will always have my heart but now that campaign 3 has won me over, it’s won me over hard - I love my little group of dysfunctional heartfelt weirdos
campaign 3 as a whole has been structured very strangely, its pacing has admittedly been rather weird (especially in the first half). however, i feel like this is more than made up for by the singular scenes of heart-wrenching emotion and gut-blasting comedy. i'm loving my time here, as flawed as this campaign is-- just like two certain groups of idiots love each other even though they're not perfect :)
Yeah I can see why someone would not like this compared to the previous ones but this campaign still has that same moments that made the previous 2 so good lmao
@@luigiman60 I didn't realize Raise the Dead would work if he died of old age, not even True Resurrection can do that, but rules as written you are right.
So! The $64,000 question is: Are we gonna get mini games with Bells Hellz, The Mighty Nein AND Vox Machina all bringing down their respective targets? PLEASE!!!!
@@idoshulman6379 Yep. First, back in episode 43 (at 3 hours 3 minutes), the party learned about stolen documents from Vasselheim that told the story: Predathos resisted the gods' powers, so they struck a deal with the Primordials, who trapped Predathos in a piece of the planet. Then, in the episode immediately before this one (at about 2 hours 25 minutes), the Wildmother gave Orym a vision that confirmed the story.
Was there any confirmation that Dorian's dad failed the charisma save on the zone of truth because his choked up moment definitely felt like he couldn't lie to Dorian?
That stay soft coming from Ashton felt just like stay gold Ponyboy from the Outsiders I mean, it's almost identical feelings from both, and it's helping bring back some of the hope I've lost for Ashton
1:28:50 ish is genuinely one of the most stressful moments ive felt in a while. that panic of the “nonononon!” immediately after felt so real and visceral. tal is playing this character incredibly, because while i know he knows as a player that these characters cannot screw up here, i genuinely wondered if ashton might actually do it. so stressful…
The persuasion DC fluctuating is a real thing and makes sense. If you have a persuasive argument or perspective its easier to persuade. If you just say "trust me bro" thats a harder sell.
I wonder if Sam knows that he might just get another chance to save Vax. If they are able to meet the gods and meet the raven queen, maybe they could convince her that the gods arent infallible and then somehow get Vax free.
1:16:09. I'm sometimes just baffled by when Matt chooses to give advantage. Braius' speech was THE example of what would justify advantage IMO. Aside from just being a well crafted speech, he quoted the tenets of the platinum dragon, he went into detail about their strengths, and then Orym backed him up with actual divine assistance I mean cmoooooon.
Could y'all imagine this scene from 48:01 to 1:55:20 animated. I know very little about the process of animation but this seems like you could blow an entire season budget on this scene.
I think it was so masterful how Sam broke that symbol before the conversation began so that he could play it off as more of a sob story then it was so he would be able to lie even further because the first one didn't work.

Operation Hells Mighty Machina is a go! I repeat: Operation Hells Mighty Machina is a go!
HELL'S MIGHTY MACHINA, *dude* that name *fvcks!*
Hells Machina 9? Mighty Vox Bells?
Mighty hells machina
Nein Hells Machina
Machina of Nein Hells?
Braius when following the Bells: "Well, I guess I'll see where this goes."
Braius internally when he's confronted by the head of his former religion: *"Oh shit oh shit oh shit-"*
Sam Riegel internally: "I just pulled off lying to the Dragon Pope!"
I love this little head canon
Making references in character and saying it was a play is great. One of my parties kept referencing Scoobus Doobus as a famous play and my dm decided to make it canon when describing a torn poster when we entered a vampire infested city.

I was thinking the same thing, I know it takes a while to make a good one, but it would be nice to have some updated scenes on it.
They should just crowdsource it at this point. Have their trusted animator storyboard the keys and let the community fill the in betweens ;)

Dorian's blade so OP, damn.
(Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) 3 of the choices that Dorian has for Greater Steed, he can knock enemies prone, which can offset the disadvantage aspect of the sword (if he chooses those mounts)
He also works very well with Orym and Braius who can make enemies prone or give disadvantage to enemies.

When I tell you I cried when I realized they were going to play VM and MN in game again it's a fucking understatement. I full on fucking bawled.

This is a great take!

I love how Dorian summons Epona in the middle of a meeting
Matt: just roll a D20
Laura: 14. Why?
*in the distance, a cold wind starts to blow, as the sound of powerful wings can be heard starting to approach.*

I have a feeling they were getting scryed on by Luda
@@RollingRedTide same
@@RollingRedTide, it would've been a saving throw with a modifier, so a pure roll might be something more ominous 👀
@@a-nkha8007 could be Matt just keeping it close to the vest as he likely knows their modifiers
"I rolled a dragon!"
01:20:03 has to become a meme! Sam is the gift that keeps on givin
2:17:09 ugh that conversation was intense . I loved it but it hurt my heart at the same time
I am a french canadian and the "pièce de résistance" from Travis broke me so much! x)
from 1:40:40 to 1:42:30 Dorian!! Robbie!!!!
