Watched the vid, got inspired, opened 3DS Max, Imported a model, got overwhelmed to shit, then went to sleep. Props dude, that's some patience you got.
Nice work. Have you tried 3D scanning with photogrametry? You can use almost any camera and put the photos in Meshroom which is free. A little bit of scaling from reference points later and wham! You've got a 3D scan of your part.
If I remember correctly, photogrammetry has an accuracy of around 1-3cm, which isn't accurate enough to make parts off of IMO. Although, if you're willing to go back and forth a few times, it's definitely a working alternative! I'm excited to see how companies use the new Lidar camera on the iPhone 12 Pro Max, supposedly its wicked accurate at making 3D models. Considering some of the cheaper 3d scanners on the market cost around 5k, 1.3k for a new phone AND 3d scanner would be SICK!
@@BradBuilds accuracy depends on the size of the subject. I scan parts of cathedrals with accuracy within 20mm which is fine for me. If you're focusing on a small area like automotive then I think the error would be smaller.
Hey! Really wish you were still active on YT and upload again, this project has huge potential & even in the year you've been absent there's been so much development within 3D! Hope to see you again soon with updates, take care!
You have a lot of time in learning programs. The old day you build cars thru hand creating. You have as much time into software learning, as we did hand creating. So I applaud, you for acquiring knowledge ," the modern Way" I will learn this to for a future build. Thanks for the Great tips.!
Awesome video! Thank you for doing this, auto design has been a big interest of mine for a few years now, but I didn’t know how to go about pursuing. Your content is a great inspiration!
Thank you Brad. Great video educational and entertaining, great work. Im a little older but love cars my whole life and my dream is to design cars. This path of design is driving me give it a try. I have tons of car ideas in my head. And would love to learn how to apply them.
Ohhhh maaaan this is exactly what ive been looking for! but i dont find any more videos on this?? :(( have you stopped the series? id love to see from 3d print to final product
can you explain more why do you use 3ds max instead of fusion on making fenders. why is it hard to make forms with fusion ? alot of people ar making widebodyes using F. i dont saw anythin easy on doing it with 3ds max the way you did.
Will you do a video on the 3D-scanning process? Would be awesome if you did that because I will be able to access some high-end 3D-scanners from school but some tips and tricks would be nice!
To get the real shape into the digital world is the most interesting. Using a Forza Model was a little bit disappointing. Try Photogrammetry and reshape the mesh. Lot of work, but not that bad :)
Hi Brad! Great design. I would like to ask you: How did you transfer the model to fusion, which format and how could you edit it further in fusion? Have you been converting in fusion to some editable mesh or something different?
hi thanks for your video.. How did you add depth (material thickness) to the fender flare in order to import it in fusion 360 as a solid body? I am trying to utilize the shell modifier but it introduces some artifacts..
Hey man, this is awesome! May I ask how you got the mesh model of the fender to a solid clean surface model in Fusion? Was it imported like that, or did you create those surfaces in fusion over the original mesh model? Thanks man!
You can remesh in 3ds or blender or whatever poly program into a quad. Then in fusion 360 you can directly convert a quadmesh to a form body to a BREP surface
Glad i found your channel! you have great content! I 3d print fun stuff with my kids on my channel. great idea i have been wanting to see more 3d printing in the automotive world, I love 3d printing and i love cars so why not mix them right!
Hi, first of all, your designs appeal to me. I would like to make these designs like you, but I have difficulties for the program I will use, I could not decide whether to use 3ds max, can you help me ... I would be glad if you guide me
If you are going to purchase a model, I'd recommend Squire3D over Hum3d. IMO, Hum3d's meshes are sloppy and sometimes don't render right. Hum3d does have more models though, so sometimes its the only thing available
By the way have you got some alternatives to the programs you are using? ive downloaded blender and was looking to start practicing.. got any other suggestions and is blender even worth looking at? best regards :)
idk if u gonna see this comment. im really interested in making my own body kit i already have my own 3d body kit made , your true help please explain everything and take ur time cuz im one of those who are gonna follow ur steps cheers.
Are you talking about the filament for the printer? I used pla in this video because it’s easiest to print. But it’s hard to work with in post. Try pro pla or tough pla 👍

The world wants the rest of this series bro. Come on.
This is helping me so much I want to start a body kit design company with my cousin who is also a mechanical engineer
Yo that’s cool did that work out?

My hero . Best builds ever
Nice. Looks like I will have to do mine myself as well.
Use CATIA v5 you can do the CAD dimensions and 3ds max curve manipulation together in one software we use to design in CATIA and it is very useful
Awesome project! Think I will try to make a 3d printed ducktail for my Miata. Keep it up!
Great vid. Can’t wait to see this come together! Wish I had the time to do stuff like this.
Hey Brad!
Love your work, love the Z, love the dogs.
You are a great inspiration for me!
Keep up the good work!

Guess it's time to learn Fusion 360. Thanks for the info!
This is very awesome, Thanks a lot!!
Looking forward to your next video dude. I don't use either of these products but still find it interesting
This is very interesting. Its something I actually want to learn. Thanks for making these videos. Anxiously waiting for the next one.

Yeah that could be a good video! When I scan my next car, I'll keep that in mind :)
So no follow up video??
photogrammetry for scanning your cars it takes time and effort but worth it.
I'd really like some 2h video which would describe a full process with the final result
Been 11 months, and I don’t see a part 2…
Incredible content brad really
Great vid! Can you post which Udemy course you purchased? I'd prefer to take that one if it's still available.

Could you not use a photogrametry software to generate just the areas of the fenders where the model would go?
Okay... how about printing a wide body kit whithout splitting the parts?
Very cool!
hi thanks for your video.. How did you add depth (material thickness) to the fender flare in order to import it in fusion 360 as a solid body? I am trying to utilize the shell modifier but it introduces some artifacts..
Nice man, can i ask you where you got these programs from?
University of youtube best free education available.

Why make a fiberglass mould? Would it not be possible to just 3d print the bodykit and put that on the car?
Good question! I will cover that in the next episode 👍
Great! Where result video?=(
This is awesome! Are there anymore updates to this video?
the lines are off because the cars in forza are not 3d scanned.
The cars in the latest Gran Turismo however are ;)
Awesome work man! How did you import your 3DS Max file to Fusion as a surface rather than polygon body?
if you found it how then please tell me also
Maybe it was imported and after that remodeled again in fusion ?
Hey, where do you get the 3D models? Thanks
Where can I purchase this body kit for my 240z ? Amazing work I love this series
is it possible to make the mounts to make in blender?
I have a car with absolutely no aftermarket support so, fuck it. Going bare bones. Let's go.
Do you publishbyour 3d models anywhere
A Xbox One Kinect would be enough as 3D Scanner? Or I need another with better resolution?
Hey brad, how we can use forza model?
Very impressive to see you create all of this, just not sure how I feel about the overfenders.
Can you make more tutorials on how to make these realistic car renders please?
Appreciate your work man 🙌 It would be if you tell us a bit extra about 3d scanning or how you get that model etc. 😁
Someone else said that too, I'll definitely make a video when I scan my next car 👍
