- Karen Young sings "Hot Shot" on Sept 30, 1990. This is the last known concert performance by the late vocal artist, who died unexpectedly less than 4 months later. The benefit concert at the Mandell Theater in Philadelphia reunited Karen Young and Andy Kahn, the co-writer of the song "Hot Shot" and co-producer of this #1 disco record in 1978, along with the late DJ Kurt Borusiewicz..
What sexy vocals, her voice is everything, how many singers can produce such lush sound without auto tune or back up vocalist, a true talent, RIP. Karen Young.....

Yes, 36 years later, "Hot Shot" and Karen Young live on in the memories of those who were there..and they continue to find new a fans, young and old. A testament to Karen's incredible talent, the power of the song and its arrangement, and some pure magic, all of which I remember so well.

Not accurate. She was actually 39 when Karen Young appeared onstage with me, captured in this video. 4 months later, she died, her life ending at the end of January, 1991. This was her last public performance.

"Hot Shot" is one of the TOP disco songs, ranking with "Romeo and Juliet" and "I Need a Man." And, I KNOW. I spent my 1970's NYC nights at 12 West, Flamingo, and Studio 54. There was NO time like it!

this was and still is one of my all time favorite disco songs...Rip Karen Young and RIP Kurt B. who previewed the song from a cassette tape in the Club DCA in Philadelphia and made the crowd go nuts...

I'm 30 and just heard this song yesterday from one of my parents' old disco compilation records. I can't stop listening to it. Disco needs a revival.

I graduated from a Chester County high school in '78, WIFI-92 had more requests for "Hot Shot", than any other song that year; if memory serves, Hot Shot was released in mid-summer. Fast-forward to 1986, I contracted to the Valley Forge Music Fair, as an audio engineer. During the Fall, right around the time which the Monkee's 20th Reunion Tour was there, Karen appeared as a backup performer. I had not done her sound check, and was warned to "watch her channel", because "she'll over-modulate the balance of the backup".

😊😊 memories, I remember when I first heard this song at a house party. And the break climax in the middle, was really what got the crowd jumping. Then to go to various disco clubs in New York City, Bentleys, Justine's, Bond international, the collie Barn,. And to hear this song was wonderful and brought back some great memories.😊 Thank you Karen Young. 🙏🏾🙏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This song was just on a list that considered it one of the top ten disco songs ever. It's a great song.
