    So, my husband and I just bought a new Avent feeding bottle with nipple #2 for 1+ month since our babu just turned 1 yesterday. However, when we tried feeding her with it yesterday evening there was really a lot of milk coming out of her mouth. Of course I got stressed (since she doesn't breastfeed from me). I looked up in Google to read more how to properly bottle feed baby and eventually got to see this video here on TH-cam. After watching, my baby woke up (so timely) and I god myself prepared to bottle feed her as what I have seen in this video and it worked! From 4oz to NO spills 🥹 I am so happy! Indeed! This video is a GREAT help! 🙏

    Are avent natural bottles for 1 month + supposed to drip when they are inverted? Just got one for my baby but the bottle doesn't drip at all. This video seems really helpful. I am about to try bottle feed my breastfed baby for the first time.

      hi there! the new (post-2022) AVENT natural nipples are notoriously difficult to get milk from-too difficult for many babies. The level 3 in their new design is equivalent to their old design level 1 flow. If your baby has a hard time getting milk from that bottle or gets really tired before drinking a reasonable amount and you're using a level 0 or 1 nipple, you may consider upping the nipple to a level 2 or 3 (this is specific only to the avent natural response nipples)

    This would have been a really useful video but I wish you had spoken during the demonstration, would have made it a lot easier to follow.

    I like this video - EXCEPT, you could teach parents that the GAPE reflex of an infant actually is ellicited on the CHIN, not the upper lip. This is a common error that is parroted by many IBCLC's, but is unfortunately incorrect - ask any SLP or OT. This is an unhealthy habit, to not activate the gape reflex properly. It would be great if you could correct this information. Inhibiting this reflex is actually harmful to normal child development. Also, a better nipple to use would be a larger pyramid shape like the Evenflo balance plus, or Lansinoh naturalwave, Pigeon or Quark, Dr Brown's is one of the worst for breast - to - bottle transition. My last comment is you should be 'responsive' or tipping milk flow away when baby is not sucking - not when the baby IS still sucking, that is not at all responsive feeding! The other way to improve breast to bottle transition is to always start the feed with ZERO milk flow, as the breast does not let down milk immediately. I appreciate all of your intentions - you make the right points, but the demonstrations miss the mark.

      Thank you for your feedback. I know more now than I did when I created this video almost four years ago. Yes-when I resume creating content again, I'll be updating with the latest info. Until then, please do teach what you'd like folks to learn. Your voice is worth sharing on your own platform too!

    A me comunque mi hanno insegnato che la tettarella deve essere sempre piena di latte e non metà per evitare che il neonato succhi aria e abbia coliche

    Please can you advise how to give them the last feed from the bottle? Means is it okay to hold bottle up right for giving end of the bottle feed

    • @newnorthnatal
      @newnorthnatal  ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, it's okay at the end of the bottle

  • @jicelleanneramirez8586

    Hi is this still applicable even the baby is fussy? The baby keeps on refusing the bottle 😭

    • @newnorthnatal
      @newnorthnatal  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! This technique is intended to prevent bottle preference/breast refusal (some people call it "nipple confusion") and overfeeding. If your baby is refusing the bottle, you'd need a different set of strategies. I do offer a bottle refusal mini-course and 1:1 bottle refusal consults; you're welcome to visit my website for more support: www.newnorthbaby.com
