I got the blu-ray of this and noticed that, apart from being hilarious, the acting is next level, especially from Craig Charles. But the character moments for them all are just so good.
And it's STILL fairly low budget, they just had a full series worth of money going into 90 minutes. But I'd argue that once you hit about Series III the show has always looked incredible for something made on a sitcom budget, peaking in probably Series V.
Yeah, hate to sound such a downer, but I honestly gave up hope on the Red Dwarf movie a long time ago. Doug Naylor had been trying to get it funded for so many years to no avail. Shame as he'd finished the movie script and sounds like it would've been fun to see if it'd been made. But at least we've been getting new series as well as this TV movie.
Why wasn't the cat getting all excited from meeting the female cats? Because of his age and he doesn't care anymore, or did they just not care to put it in?
I hope Red Dwarf doesn't end with this movie.
I'm hoping it ends with reuniting with Kochanski played by Clare Grogan
@@chriswhittaker5075 me too
@@chriswhittaker5075 didn't her Kochanski die though?
@@MichaelM28 it's a Sci fi show, that really doesn't prevent that happening
@@MichaelM28 they even explained that in back to earth so no

Excellent production values in comparison to how it all started! 👍

@@Moonlight_Soyuz season 7 and 8 look like complete smeg though, the CGI Starbug sucks
The charm of it was the low budget feel. It was a sci fi sitcom, not a sci fi drama. If it looks like a Lucasfilm it’s not as funny.
The closest we'll ever get to a movie.

Well if it is anything like Back to Earth than I wouldn't be surprised why no one green lit it @@AndrewChapman
@@DirectorHMAN I liked Back to Earth. =(
0:06 they use the "Doctor Who orange spacesuits" or at least something similar to them
Great episode
How the hell did I not hear about this!!!
Great
I hope we will get Series 13 of Red Dwarf at some point
It's in production now
!!!!!!!!I love this!!!!😁
REEEED DWAAAAAARFFFFF!!! (hidden lyrics)
When am I going to have access to this?!
given recent events probably not for a while.
the whole series including this is on BBC iPlayer now.
is this a new season?
It's a movie.
It's something like a TV movie which is just one two-part episode, complete with its own intro. I guess it could count as a whole season.

He's got the two female cats on Z deck
@@EndsWiithZin his dreams. They aren't actually there.
Shame Red Dwarf never really went in for story arc, or character development, or world-building.
