    We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

    Wow, it worked for me. I have a Samsung S95C and a Fire Stick 4K, the camera is the Eufy E340. The only thing that didn't work for me was that if the current input is other than the fire stick, it doesn't automatically switch to it but I know that has to do with my tv or tv settings. Thank you!!!

      Not using the Alexa option, but there are other apps that can view multiple feeds at once like IP Camera Viewer Pro etc, but some of these will need to be side loaded on the FireStick. Currently the native support will only show 1 display at a time.

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      No specific app needed. Best to try it on your phone first and figure out what command works with your particular doorbell. Bare in mind a) you need to have the ring skill (assuming its a ring doorbell) setup in your Alexa app first and b) the routine needs to use the exact name that your doorbell is called in the Alexa app.

      @AndysTechLife  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could add a *wait* option in the routine, and if your tv supports it you could get Alexa to turn off the TV after a set period of time, but there's no way of getting the TV to specifically turn off at the moment the doorbell has finished. Maybe, if you have a smart tv you could add, wait 5 mins, then turn off the TV.

      @@AndysTechLife hi. I've tried to add comment "wait 30 seconds" or "delay 30 seconds" and then added Tutn off TV but it seems that Alexa didn't know what "wait" or "delay" means and it didn't wait.

    hello love the video keep the good work coming, what if we are watching Sky Q can it work to just like on the FireStick?

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So not 100% sure I understand the question, but if I get it right; if you're watching a Sky Q box, this is connected to another HDMI port on the TV, so on most TVs if there's activity on another HDMI device, such as a Firestick or DVD player for example, the TV should switch to that HDMI input, thus switching from the Sky box to the Firestick, but this depends on whether or not the TV does this as normal behaviour, and also, if the Firestick is idle before the doorbell triggers. If the Stick was already active and displaying, then the TV won't see any difference when the camera suddenly displays on the screen, but if its idle or 'screen off' then the TV will get a new signal from the Stick and should change the HDMI input. No guarantees with this tbh and some TVs you may still have to manually switch. Good to check if there's an option on your own TV in the manual on auto switching HDMI inputs. Hope this helps.

    Question: can I get a blink camera at a different location to display on my firestick if it's already added to my blink account?

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, the location shouldn't matter as long as its on the same account as connected to your Alexa. For example, I have the cameras in my home connected to a blink hub, but on the same account I have an office camera in my office location connected to another hub, but it's on the same account so I can view it with Alexa commands.

    Do you have a video showing Ring Door Bell button press showing on FireStick & Echo together (more than TWO devices)?

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So there's a couple of ways to do this, you can also use the IFTTT method for this which I see you've commented on also. But you can create multiple routines with the same trigger in Alexa app. For example, create a routine that does "when doorbell pressed -> show my doorbell on screen". The trick would be to create a routine for each of the devices you want to display it on, and use the Customized action and select the device you want to display on in the 'FROM' section in the routine.
      * Create routine -> Trigger is WHEN doorbell is pressed -> Add action -> Customized -> type in 'show my front door' -> Then choose the echo as the 'FROM' device.
      Customized actions are basically like tricking an Echo into thinking they received a voice command, so you type in what you would normally say, and then choose which device this action occurs 'FROM'
      So with 2 or 3 routines you can have the same trigger - WHEN doorbell is pressed, but each routine does a customized action to show the front door to a different echo device.

    Have this set up now, works great thank you for doing the video, 1 question though. After showing front door it don't automatically go back to tv on hdmi port I have to change on the remote control. How do I get it to do that by saying alexa back to TV or hdmi? Or somthing like that,
    Thank you

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really to be honest, unless your smart TV has a command that Alexa can trigger to change the HDMI input. This routine doesn't actually tell the TV to change to the FireStick on HDMI, its the sudden change of input from the camera loading that actually does that as a feature of the HDMI ports on the TV, so the only way would be to maybe get your TV cable box to turn back on which in theory would switch the HDMI back to that input. Other than that there's no simple way to go back to the TV I'm afraid.

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No this will work without an echo show as long as the blink cameras are added in your Alexa app. Best way to test is use the remote with the firestick to ask Alexa to show the camera. FYI if you have a 'lite' firestick this probably won't work as Alexa voice isn't available on the firestick lite versions.

    I have set up my ring doorbell to appear on my FireTV when someone presses the doorbell button. However, I have a couple of issues. 1) once the video appears on the FireTV, it will stay on. How can I add a timer on my Alexa app to automatically return to the program I was watching after two minutes? 2) If I’m not watching anything and my FireTV and it is off, it will turn on and show the ring doorbell. The problem is that if I’m on vacation, the FireTV will turn on and stay on for as long as I’m on vacation. This means my FireTV could be on 24/7 for a couple of months (showing my ring doorbell live for the duration of my vacation).

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the Alexa app routines you can add commands to the fireTV itself, there's an specific option in the routines for FireTV while allows you to control the devices, so you could for option 1:
      * add a 'wait' command to the routine to wait for say 5 mins
      * then add a command for the FireTV to return to the home screen. There's no easy way to return to what you were watching unfortunately.
      For issue two, as long as your TV accepts commands via Hdmi there's an option in the routines to turn the TV off. A different option, and what I've done is that I have a smart plug connected to the TV and when I leave the house I have a routine that turns off lots of plugs, lights and sets the alarms, so that way the TV can't be switched on by the doorbell at all until I'm at home.

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the main entrance nothing much you can do but some of the intercoms inside your apartment may have add ons that allow for remote viewing and control. For example if your intercom is Fermax they have an add on that will connect your intercom to WiFi and let you view and open. Other than that the only other option is the Nuki opener which allows opening on ring but no video.

    My Samsung TV had Ring integration that worked perfectly until recently. Can’t even view the feed on it now. So I thought this would be a good work around. Annoyingly for some reason it shows me video for about a second and then goes black. If I view it through the app on the TV, it works. However Using a voice command bring up the feed and then it almost instantly goes black, can still hear sound though.

    I’m still struggling here, I really appreciate your walk-through it’s been very informative however I do have a brand new 4K Max fire stick as well as a brand new blink doorbell camera and it says that doorbell does not support this action. So it seems like a few people have had the same comment about the 4k sticks. I'm using an older one and both my Ring and Blink cameras are working fine, so, unusual though it may be, they may have changes something on the software as it still seems to to work for people to video cameras using the voice control in remote. The only thing I could suggest is playing around with the phrase you use in the routine to display the camera, but it is very strange. :(

      Did you figure out how to make it work ?

  • @utuber1000
    @utuber1000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Andy, I think this already works in the US without setting up a routine, as I have been doing it verbally that way on my Fire Cube here for a long time; but nonetheless I have been replaying and studying your video carefully in the hope that your suggestion would enable me to have it work with those of my cameras that lack an Alexa Display Skill, like my Wasserstein camera for example, but unfortunately it doesn't. Any idea as to a trick to make that work?
    Also, might you have any suggestion as to how to use a routine to command the Wyze DoorBell to flip from horizontal to vertical on FireTV? For some strange reason, the Wyze Doorbell displays on FireTV horizontally/landscape mode, making it appear as if the postman or delivery person is crawling on his/her hands and knees rather than walking up to the door. LOL!

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there, the reason for the routine though is to not have to use your voice and have it auto display when the doorbell rings. It works here on the stick via voice too, but wanted it to be automatic without the need to use a voice command. Unfortunately if the camera doesn't have a skill though the firestick isn't going to work. If we could bypass some of the restrictions and put more android apps on it might be possible the same as on an android TV device, but no luck so far I'm afraid. I'm trying to replicate what Paul Hibbert did on his Android TV device, but without all the Google Services there's just no way on the fire devices :(
      Very strange one that the picture on your camera flips though. Don't understand why it would do that. If it does the same on an echo show device I'd say it was settings but if it works on other devices fine there might be an issue with the skill, or maybe the firestick can only pull in the default orientation of the camera for some reason.
      I'm gonna keep trying with other Cameras but I think we might be out of luck on the fire sticks. :(

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wonder is there a setting in the Wyse doorbell setup that needs to change first to get the orientation to display correctly with Alexa?

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only other thing I can think of is a 3rd party app like Tiny IP camera which you could install on your Firestick and try and import the camera feed of your other camera into and use a routine to open that app if that works, but this is tricky.. check out this video from Brian from automate your life as this might help: th-cam.com/video/6nHpIRGCLd8/w-d-xo.html

    does this work with Google nest doorbell?

      @AndysTechLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can view the Nest with a voice command you should be able to create a manual action to view on the Fire Stick. The only thing is I know Nest doesn't play nicely with other ecosystems any more so I haven't tried this myself as I replaced all my Nest products a few years ago.

    how about a samsung tv

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope :( Samsungs don't support Alexa on the devices themselves other than reviving on / off or basic commands. They don't have the Alexa app built in. This is using the Alexa built into the firestick and needs this to display. The TV is just acting like a screen but the firestick is doing the work.

      Could you be a bit more specific as it has helped others? It's also an old video so it's possible steps have changed since it was posted.
