@@Randulpheleven It's not in a musical :( The original video was posted 9 years ago then fans wanted the official audio version. Then after 9 years this happened :)
That first "I can't feel a thing anymore" after “it doesn’t matter anyway” line is wonderful. Obviously this song has its comedic moments, but I love that pain.
Reminder that this is where my audition starts: 2:48 EDIT: Got the role of Lonnie in Rock of Ages. It may be my last time on a stage for a while but I’m glad I went out with a bang. Thanks to the people who were asking :)
As a song, this makes me think of something that Queen might have done if Freddie hadn't gotten sick and was still around. It's almost "Son Of Bohemian Rhapsody", with the grim "American Psycho" storyline, plus that combination of music-hall/Broadway showbiz razzamatazz and pounding hard rock they were so good at. Of course, Andrew R. doesn't sound much like Freddie, and Joe I. and his studio band aren't Brian, John and Roger - but I still hear an aesthetic similarity.
Good morning, Fort Green You’re looking blah as ever My daily routine It’s all such an endeavor Work and then back Partying in Park Slope He gives my ass a smack I roll my eyes and bark, “nope, that’s not gonna happen.” He got his hoodie at the Folton Flea Like every other d-bag next to me I see ironic patches And my soul detaches Now I can’t feel a thing anymore I can’t feel a thing anymore It’s all been done before Everything’s a horrible bore And living is a terrible chore You know that it’s true There’s nothing new to do in Brooklyn anymore I go for a walk I try to get inspired I see a neighbor, we talk It only makes me tired I didn’t always used to be this way Remember how I felt on move-in day I was so young and connected Now I’m just unaffected Now I can’t feel a thing anymore I can’t feel a thing anymore It’s all been done before And everything’s a horrible bore And living is a terrible chore You know that it’s true There’s nothing new to do in Brooklyn anymore There’s nothing new to do in Brookyln anymore Oh, I think I need a change I need to feel some heaven I don’t see fire in the flame and everybody looks the same and I don’t care where you were on 9/11. I mean you didn’t even live here then so it wasn’t really a THING for you. It’s totally late I see a woman on Atlantic Without a second of debate I grab her hair and she goes frantic I wrap my hands around her neck With all the passion i can rally We’re by that club that’s on Bybeck I dump her body in an alley I sweat a little bit, but i’m still numb That was kind of whatever but it was mostly dumb I walk home wondering what it all means Would i feel different if i lived in Queens…? Ugh. Who’s to say? It doesn’t matter anyway Cause I can’t feel a thing anymore I can’t feel a thing anymore It’s all been done before And everythings a horrible bore And living is a terrible chore You know that it’s true There’s nothing new to do There’s nothing new to do There’s nothing new to do in Brooklyn anymore There’s nothing new to do in Brooklyn anymore There’s nothing new to do in New York anymore There’s nothing new to do in America anymore There’s nothing new to do in the universe anymore Yes it’s all been done before There’s nothing new to do in Brooklyn anymore
Waited 9 years for this. I can finally rest in peace.
Was this in a musical previously, please tell us the history of the song and why you waited 9 years? It's a great song (about a nihilistic murderer!)

Good morning, Fort Green
You’re looking blah as ever
My daily routine
It’s all such an endeavor
Work and then back
Partying in Park Slope
He gives my ass a smack
I roll my eyes and bark, “nope, that’s not gonna happen.”
He got his hoodie at the Folton Flea
Like every other d-bag next to me
I see ironic patches
And my soul detaches
Now I can’t feel a thing anymore
I can’t feel a thing anymore
It’s all been done before
Everything’s a horrible bore
And living is a terrible chore
You know that it’s true
There’s nothing new to do in Brooklyn anymore
I go for a walk
I try to get inspired
I see a neighbor, we talk
It only makes me tired
I didn’t always used to be this way
Remember how I felt on move-in day
I was so young and connected
Now I’m just unaffected
Now I can’t feel a thing anymore
I can’t feel a thing anymore
It’s all been done before
And everything’s a horrible bore
And living is a terrible chore
You know that it’s true
There’s nothing new to do in Brooklyn anymore
There’s nothing new to do in Brookyln anymore
Oh, I think I need a change
I need to feel some heaven
I don’t see fire in the flame and everybody looks the same
and I don’t care where you were on 9/11.
I mean you didn’t even live here then so it wasn’t really a THING for you.
It’s totally late
I see a woman on Atlantic
Without a second of debate
I grab her hair and she goes frantic
I wrap my hands around her neck
With all the passion i can rally
We’re by that club that’s on Bybeck
I dump her body in an alley
I sweat a little bit, but i’m still numb
That was kind of whatever but it was mostly dumb
I walk home wondering what it all means
Would i feel different if i lived in Queens…?
Ugh.
Who’s to say?
It doesn’t matter anyway
Cause I can’t feel a thing anymore
I can’t feel a thing anymore
It’s all been done before
And everythings a horrible bore
And living is a terrible chore
You know that it’s true
There’s nothing new to do
There’s nothing new to do
There’s nothing new to do in Brooklyn anymore
There’s nothing new to do in Brooklyn anymore
There’s nothing new to do in New York anymore
There’s nothing new to do in America anymore
There’s nothing new to do in the universe anymore
Yes it’s all been done before
There’s nothing new to do in Brooklyn anymore

What is the story behind this? 👀
it's a stand alone song not attached to a full musical, so no story outside of this
heard it was inspired by a friend of joe iconis (who, disclaimer, is NOT a murderer), other than that the rest is just kind of made up
just what happens when you live in brooklyn x
4:21 for me :3
patrick bateman tbh
