Honestly he didn't do much... he was told he had a Grandmother and then Dom told him who he was too. And Carley just unravelled herself. And even then he had doubts... look at his face when he was killed... he actually though for a second he killed himself by Gambling on his Grandmother!

Also this channel was my introduction to clocktower and she is much more experienced than the other players on this channel. Also Also, she's just a joy to watch

Tbh it didnt really matter if ST revived Brooke or Adam since anyone with a brain could figure out that Laurie was the demon after that fiasco. Good game!!
The real MVP was Ben bringing the exorcist back, basically made it unwinnable for the evil team with that, should have left it to a final day of Laurie, Carley and Dom and made the good team pick between Carley and Laurie rather than hand it to the good team
@@harveyholmes9533 - I've only watched the in person games, and this is speaking in hindsight, but the storytellers generally seem to lean hard into misdirecting Good, because Evil usually wins (other than this one and a complete random luck loss). So I'd bet Good would have lost this too without a resurrection (maybe it should have been the Chambermaid though). I genuinely think that was just giving them a chance at all.
Disagree, Adam would've left room for interpretation with a good ol goose-egg whereas Brooke eliminated the doubt by virtue of people either thinking she got the demon right with Carley or being already convinced it's Carley. I think Laurie was the good team's MVP by being too Shabba-greedy with a triple kill via Jon, the better move would've been to get Blair, then Olli, leaving four and giving the storytellers less incentive to resurrect on that night.

After how well this first game went, I was genuinely worried that the others wouldn't be as exciting. I was wrong. In fact, I went on to be wrong 5 times. So now I'm worried that season 2 won't be as exciting. Reckon I'll probably be wrong about it though.
To be fair, I do that as well. I always expect the worst, so I’m either pleasantly surprised, or proven right. Either way, you can’t be disappointed if you always expect to be disappointed.

For example, a Townsfolk protected by a Monk in a Vortox game learns correct info, because the Vortox causes Townsfolk to get incorrect info.

If the Monk selects the Imp who tries to kill themself, the kill and starpass will fail. (In TB, there will be no night death.) The Kickstarter cash was well spent! Graphics look great, the decor is outstanding, and the atmosphere is properly gothic. Great editing and performances are just the norm for NRB, so no extra credit there. Thanks guys, looking forward to 5 more! ☺

When Laurie entered the tent with Jon and Blair, the scene I envisioned was of this grown ass man living with his sweet sweet grandma, him all messed up after many crazy nights of gambling; entering a small tent with a giant horrendous beast, teeth as big as an arm, hairy, salivating, but wearing glasses and a mustache, claiming his name is "Mr. Good Humanman" and swearing on his life he would never feast on human flesh.

I was just happy the good team trusted each other for once. Usually the good team will refuse to trust anyone, even when their abilities are telling them otherwise. Even here, Adam didn't fully entertain the idea his info was correct and led them down the Pukka path.
the lunatic distrust between Carley and Laurie, and the choice of who to resurrect(i think a res should have happened personally for sure but maybe Adam res could have been more ambiguous for the future) decided the game Thanks for the game! Another super fun game!!
@@Dragonatrix I completely agree that Carley fucked up majorly with this one. But resurrecting the exorcist in that situation was way too strong, because town literally had no way to lose. Either they got the minion and had the exorcist get the demon, or get the demon and the minion wouldn't be able to do anything anyway.
Watched on the Kickstarter preview but wanted to come over to say what a tremendous piece of work this is from all involved! The NRB crew have outdone themselves with this absolutely incredible piece of work. The set design, the production value, it’s all out of this world, and takes what are always entertaining BOTC games anyway and take them to the next level. INCREDIBLE work, and so so so glad to know we still have 5 more of these to come. Throwing out there early: i would ABSOLUTELY be happy to kickstart another season already based on this first episode!
Being a storyteller for this game must be so hard, bringing back the excorcist made everything so Ironclad for the good team in hindsight. It was a great game and I'm so excited for the next episode!
Yeah had Carley not double claimed an outsider, I think she could have spun a world where she wasn't evil. The whole game really came down to her not getting the bluffs.
@@eRON3000 Since Dom was 100% cleared by two known goods the only way Carley couldn't be evil was if Brooke was a minion that was targeted by her demon on day 1. Just extremely extremely unlikely. Also it was impossible for her to be the demon. So actually it was 100% impossible for good to win after Brooke's resurrection. The only two possible demons were Laurie and Carley and they could lynch one and exorcise the other, just like they reasoned out. It was literally impossible for Carley to talk her way out of that plan. Their only hope was good just somehow not realizing this and ... Brooke choosing to exorcise Dom? The village lynching Brooke?! No, actually, there was really just no way. I'm definitely using hindsight here, but this was definitely a storyteller mistake. It just ended the game flat out to bring Brooke back. If it wasn't the exorcist you could hope they lynch Carley, but with the exorcist in play and Dom cleared the game was just over.

Jon, you really did it. You found, not one, but two people to tell the truth to who told you the truth back. The Fortune Teller Tent Thruple did what the Billiard Boys could not. Very rough for Carley, though, not picking up on the Demon bluffs. I feel like that's something she absolutely would have picked up on in Zoom, where she would have notes. Having the reminder of what Laurie said right in front of her, I'm confident she would have pieced it together to make a valid claim. Instead, Carley wound up extremely unlucky picking three accounted for claims with Gossip, Gambler, and Outsider.
@@JonGracey69 the crazy part is that Blair was also all for it as well. She may have been a little more keen on it than you. I didn’t know Ravenswood Bluff was in West Yorkshire.

That first conversation between Carley and Laurie is brilliant. Laurie is being cautious because he might be a Lunatic so he wants to see what Carley says. And Carley is a Mastermind so she kind of wants Laurie to think he's a Lunatic so that he can say "Hey everyone, I'm the Lunatic, I talked to my supposed minions and they gave me other roles, go ahead and kill me now." Then it's the Mastermind day and all she has to do is not let herself or Sully die and it's an evil win.
The first one was so good, I never thought they could better it, well knock me down with a feather, they only went and bloody done it, well done NRB, this is brilliant thank you.

These sets are so beautiful! It's amazing. The new side rooms are amazing. Love it so much. Wow. And they have so much fun with it too. Isaac trying so desperately to convey to Olli that he's the sailor who drank with him and Olli just... not picking it up until it's just plainly pointed out. 'I do believe you're the chambermaid cause that was so wholesome and sad.' Oh my, poor Adam. xD That worked out badly. Loved Laurie claiming the Sailor (as part of the bluffing they tend to do) and Isaac just shaking his head behind him. So good. The 'you must be drunk, because I'm the gossip' bit was amaaaazing. Loved it so much. Aaaand, then Adam nominates Sully. And he at least seems to feel bad about it. And damn it this time he was right.

I've been watching your videos nonstop for a couple of weeks now and it's brought me so much joy. Yesterday was my birthday, I made a power point presentation of the rules (in spanish) and went through it with my friends, then I storytelled my first ever game of Trouble Brewing!! I was worried at first because it was so much information and maybe they wouldn't enjoy it and have an awful three hours experience. But we actually had such a good time (your classic end-of-game screaming at each other and losing their minds), they asked for another session soon!! I hadn't had a thing bringing me so much shared joy for a while! thank you thank you thank you!
@@yoshi6421 I did! I mean, I translated the roles abilities and wrote a how-to-play explanation myself according to the info I thought needed to be given in the clearest way possible. We've been playing all summer! Some of my friends now storytell themselves and we just tried our first Bad Moon Rising :)
I feel Sully claiming he was Professor when he absolutely didn't need to after his death is what did for the evil team. They were sitting *so* comfortably until the Exorcist resurrection happened and caused good to re-evaluate all their thinking up to that point. Laurie just had no out and was basically a sitting duck from that point on. Still a great game though!
So excited we're getting five more of these :D Some thoughts: Cool to see Isaac back, i feel like it's been a while since he's been on the show; Just noticed Rosie's name in the credits as director/associate producer, I don't think Rosie's ever played BotC (?) but I'm hoping one day, can only imagine the kind of chaotic energy she would bring to the show, but still cool to see that she's doing stuff behind the scenes even if she doesn't want to play; Rooting for Laurie to win one of these!
Rosie has taken part in a zoom episode of BotC that is on TH-cam (I, Carley, I, Zombie), in which it is disclosed that she has also appeared in a 2nd episode that had to be cut, implied to be because of technical difficulties.
Absolutely amazing game from everyone! The set looks fantastic, our lovely storytellers being cryptic and the players super chaotic! I'm super looking forward to more episodes and more kickstarters! I missed the last one (discovered No Rolls Barred only after that) but I would be so so on board (heh) with more! Amazing work everyone!
Carley is an evil expert-player when it comes to bending truths and general risky moves, but her downfalls often seems to be a lack of communication with her team and coming on too strong out the gates.
1:14:55 *DO NOT CLICK OR READ IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN THIS FAR* SPOILERS AHEAD I love Carley being well and incontrovertibly outed yet still, defiant til the end, dictating the terms. "In that case, you have to decide if you want to kill me." Brooke may be Lord of the Board, but all hail the Queen of the Clocktower Edit: 1:25:50 holy forking shirtballs another 🎤 drop
She lost because good team played very well, but in honesty, she is the evil player that made the most mistakes, including the one that made the game unwinnable for her team. (I think you can argue Laurie maybe should have killed one or more dead players, or possibly even Carley, instead of the two that he did kill. And you can argue that, once Sully died, he should not have claimed Professor so Laurie could keep that bluff in his back pocket in case someone came back), If she took a safer bluff, she would have had the tiniest veneer of a doubt, or at least a way to cast someone else as a minion. It was a thin shot to victory, but Carley needed to insist she was a good, non minion, and that Brooke was possibly a Mastermind. She gambled too big on her lies and got burned. In closing, I think each evil player made at least one major mistake, but Jon, Blair, and Dom played a hell of a game.
I'm shocked Laurie didn't try to play into the Pukka world longer. IMO, the strongest aspect of a Shaboloth is being able to convince the town that it's another demon in play, then make a kill on 4, usually ending the game, if the STs don't resurrect, but even if they do, the town's worlds are usually based on some wrong information, like thinking there's a Pukka or thinking an incorrect gossip was actually true, that they might not still work out on the final day.
The liiiivvvvveeesssss are back (and ready to be lost)! Omfg, that initial Carley/Adam interaction is hilarious proof that Carley is the ultimate BotC champion and, as long as she's evil, cannot be messed with! 😂 I agree with Plato, as per Sully's quote: the greatest love you can feel *is* indeed for an Adam 😂
Laurie might have saved this for evil by claiming to be a Professor that resurrected the Exorcist. That brings some of the other Demon types back onto the table, and gives him a completely solid claim.
considering Sullivan had already claimed Professor with no pushback from Laurie (and he'd already settled in to the Courtier bluff) I think trying to walk it back at the very end by going "no im the professor i did that" would just make them realise he's the Shab/confirm to them that he is evil
First off, I loved that this is back and it was great to watch. Secondly Spoiler . . . . . . . . Didn't think the evil team really had a chance from the beginning based on roles. Dom trusting Jon and Blair right away sealed the evils teams fate, even with the wrong pucker read.

This was so excellent!! Everybody seemed so much more comfortable playing in-person and the production felt so much tighter and sleeker. Those establishing shots and set decoration were gorgeous. A phenomenal episode and I can't wait for the rest. Actually had me out of my seat several times. Everybody with a hand in this should be so proud of their work. Carley really picked the two worst possible bluffs. Both were immediately and completely disproven by the grandma/grandson pair.

When Laurie entered the tent with Jon and Blair, the scene I envisioned was of this grown ass man living with his sweet sweet grandma, him all messed up after many crazy nights of gambling; entering a small tent with a giant horrendous beast, teeth as big as an arm, hairy, salivating, but wearing glasses and a mustache, claiming his name is "Mr. Good Humanman" and swearing on his life he would never feast on human flesh.
This was so good.
Adam's play, while it didn't work to perfection, was really smart.
Carley's misunderstanding with Laurie set the evil team behind.

I was just happy the good team trusted each other for once. Usually the good team will refuse to trust anyone, even when their abilities are telling them otherwise. Even here, Adam didn't fully entertain the idea his info was correct and led them down the Pukka path.

@@Dragonatrix I completely agree that Carley fucked up majorly with this one. But resurrecting the exorcist in that situation was way too strong, because town literally had no way to lose. Either they got the minion and had the exorcist get the demon, or get the demon and the minion wouldn't be able to do anything anyway.

Watched on the Kickstarter preview but wanted to come over to say what a tremendous piece of work this is from all involved!
The NRB crew have outdone themselves with this absolutely incredible piece of work. The set design, the production value, it’s all out of this world, and takes what are always entertaining BOTC games anyway and take them to the next level.
INCREDIBLE work, and so so so glad to know we still have 5 more of these to come.

Being a storyteller for this game must be so hard, bringing back the excorcist made everything so Ironclad for the good team in hindsight. It was a great game and I'm so excited for the next episode!

Yeah had Carley not double claimed an outsider, I think she could have spun a world where she wasn't evil. The whole game really came down to her not getting the bluffs.

@@eRON3000 Since Dom was 100% cleared by two known goods the only way Carley couldn't be evil was if Brooke was a minion that was targeted by her demon on day 1. Just extremely extremely unlikely. Also it was impossible for her to be the demon.
So actually it was 100% impossible for good to win after Brooke's resurrection. The only two possible demons were Laurie and Carley and they could lynch one and exorcise the other, just like they reasoned out. It was literally impossible for Carley to talk her way out of that plan. Their only hope was good just somehow not realizing this and ... Brooke choosing to exorcise Dom? The village lynching Brooke?! No, actually, there was really just no way.
I'm definitely using hindsight here, but this was definitely a storyteller mistake. It just ended the game flat out to bring Brooke back. If it wasn't the exorcist you could hope they lynch Carley, but with the exorcist in play and Dom cleared the game was just over.

Jon, you really did it. You found, not one, but two people to tell the truth to who told you the truth back. The Fortune Teller Tent Thruple did what the Billiard Boys could not.
Very rough for Carley, though, not picking up on the Demon bluffs. I feel like that's something she absolutely would have picked up on in Zoom, where she would have notes. Having the reminder of what Laurie said right in front of her, I'm confident she would have pieced it together to make a valid claim. Instead, Carley wound up extremely unlucky picking three accounted for claims with Gossip, Gambler, and Outsider.
Why did Jon and Blaire go for the polyamoury bit when Blair is Jon's grandma, in this situation. 😭

That first conversation between Carley and Laurie is brilliant. Laurie is being cautious because he might be a Lunatic so he wants to see what Carley says. And Carley is a Mastermind so she kind of wants Laurie to think he's a Lunatic so that he can say "Hey everyone, I'm the Lunatic, I talked to my supposed minions and they gave me other roles, go ahead and kill me now." Then it's the Mastermind day and all she has to do is not let herself or Sully die and it's an evil win.
Yet bc she didn't come out to her demon, she never got proper bluffs and therefore she got caught double-claiming. Poor move.
Adam: "I'm sorry (for nominating you)"
Scully: "that's alright, it happens..... Every time"
The first one was so good, I never thought they could better it, well knock me down with a feather, they only went and bloody done it, well done NRB, this is brilliant thank you.

I've been watching your videos nonstop for a couple of weeks now and it's brought me so much joy. Yesterday was my birthday, I made a power point presentation of the rules (in spanish) and went through it with my friends, then I storytelled my first ever game of Trouble Brewing!! I was worried at first because it was so much information and maybe they wouldn't enjoy it and have an awful three hours experience. But we actually had such a good time (your classic end-of-game screaming at each other and losing their minds), they asked for another session soon!! I hadn't had a thing bringing me so much shared joy for a while! thank you thank you thank you!

@@yoshi6421 I did! I mean, I translated the roles abilities and wrote a how-to-play explanation myself according to the info I thought needed to be given in the clearest way possible. We've been playing all summer! Some of my friends now storytell themselves and we just tried our first Bad Moon Rising :)

It's insane how far they were able to stretch the grandmother gambler combo.
I feel Sully claiming he was Professor when he absolutely didn't need to after his death is what did for the evil team. They were sitting *so* comfortably until the Exorcist resurrection happened and caused good to re-evaluate all their thinking up to that point. Laurie just had no out and was basically a sitting duck from that point on. Still a great game though!

This is such a great moment to me, and highlights why Sullivan is absolutely the funniest cast member and Adam is his perfect foil
I love the little set dressing signs. They make it for me.

Just noticed Rosie's name in the credits as director/associate producer, I don't think Rosie's ever played BotC (?) but I'm hoping one day, can only imagine the kind of chaotic energy she would bring to the show, but still cool to see that she's doing stuff behind the scenes even if she doesn't want to play;
Rooting for Laurie to win one of these!
Rosie has taken part in a zoom episode of BotC that is on TH-cam (I, Carley, I, Zombie), in which it is disclosed that she has also appeared in a 2nd episode that had to be cut, implied to be because of technical difficulties.

Carley is an evil expert-player when it comes to bending truths and general risky moves, but her downfalls often seems to be a lack of communication with her team and coming on too strong out the gates.
she gets paranoid people are gonna sus her out for talking to them, but other players have done it and no one really pays that much attention
I'm a month late, but nobody laughing at Dom's "Take Me Out" joke in the credits is an absolute travesty

I love Carley being well and incontrovertibly outed yet still, defiant til the end, dictating the terms. "In that case, you have to decide if you want to kill me." Brooke may be Lord of the Board, but all hail the Queen of the Clocktower

She lost because good team played very well, but in honesty, she is the evil player that made the most mistakes, including the one that made the game unwinnable for her team. (I think you can argue Laurie maybe should have killed one or more dead players, or possibly even Carley, instead of the two that he did kill. And you can argue that, once Sully died, he should not have claimed Professor so Laurie could keep that bluff in his back pocket in case someone came back), If she took a safer bluff, she would have had the tiniest veneer of a doubt, or at least a way to cast someone else as a minion.
It was a thin shot to victory, but Carley needed to insist she was a good, non minion, and that Brooke was possibly a Mastermind. She gambled too big on her lies and got burned.
In closing, I think each evil player made at least one major mistake, but Jon, Blair, and Dom played a hell of a game.
Jon and Blair played an absolute blinder.
I'm shocked Laurie didn't try to play into the Pukka world longer. IMO, the strongest aspect of a Shaboloth is being able to convince the town that it's another demon in play, then make a kill on 4, usually ending the game, if the STs don't resurrect, but even if they do, the town's worlds are usually based on some wrong information, like thinking there's a Pukka or thinking an incorrect gossip was actually true, that they might not still work out on the final day.
The liiiivvvvveeesssss are back (and ready to be lost)! Omfg, that initial Carley/Adam interaction is hilarious proof that Carley is the ultimate BotC champion and, as long as she's evil, cannot be messed with! 😂
I agree with Plato, as per Sully's quote: the greatest love you can feel *is* indeed for an Adam 😂
Laurie might have saved this for evil by claiming to be a Professor that resurrected the Exorcist. That brings some of the other Demon types back onto the table, and gives him a completely solid claim.
considering Sullivan had already claimed Professor with no pushback from Laurie (and he'd already settled in to the Courtier bluff) I think trying to walk it back at the very end by going "no im the professor i did that" would just make them realise he's the Shab/confirm to them that he is evil

Didn't think the evil team really had a chance from the beginning based on roles. Dom trusting Jon and Blair right away sealed the evils teams fate, even with the wrong pucker read.
Evil might have had a chance if Laurie and Carley were able to have a proper Day 1 chat.

This was so excellent!! Everybody seemed so much more comfortable playing in-person and the production felt so much tighter and sleeker. Those establishing shots and set decoration were gorgeous. A phenomenal episode and I can't wait for the rest. Actually had me out of my seat several times. Everybody with a hand in this should be so proud of their work.
