@andrewbonk4861 her social reads are just on a different level, the way she can put together worlds that no one else has even considered. She's just really good at solving the game.
Also this channel was my introduction to clocktower and she is much more experienced than the other players on this channel.

Every time that Ben says the best way to read the Sailor's ability is to read it backwards, take a drink. You are now the Sailor.
He's very consistent. I've watched so many of these that now when I read a script I hear it in Daddy Ben's voice, accent and all.

Real mvp of this game was the throuple aka jon, blair, and dom. Properly hid the outsider, causing carley to double-claim not once, but twice, which proved without a doubt she was a minion. Tbh it didnt really matter if ST revived Brooke or Adam since anyone with a brain could figure out that Laurie was the demon after that fiasco. Good game!!
Carley really picked the two worst possible bluffs. Both were immediately and completely disproven by the grandma/grandson pair.
Actually I remember John being Sus of Adam in the game so maybe it would have turned out differently
The real MVP was Ben bringing the exorcist back, basically made it unwinnable for the evil team with that, should have left it to a final day of Laurie, Carley and Dom and made the good team pick between Carley and Laurie rather than hand it to the good team
@@harveyholmes9533 - I've only watched the in person games, and this is speaking in hindsight, but the storytellers generally seem to lean hard into misdirecting Good, because Evil usually wins (other than this one and a complete random luck loss). So I'd bet Good would have lost this too without a resurrection (maybe it should have been the Chambermaid though). I genuinely think that was just giving them a chance at all.
Disagree, Adam would've left room for interpretation with a good ol goose-egg whereas Brooke eliminated the doubt by virtue of people either thinking she got the demon right with Carley or being already convinced it's Carley.
I think Laurie was the good team's MVP by being too Shabba-greedy with a triple kill via Jon, the better move would've been to get Blair, then Olli, leaving four and giving the storytellers less incentive to resurrect on that night.
So, can we accept this game is the most amazing role reversal comeback as we have the Eternally Confused Jon Gracy actually nailing both the demon down and actually COMPLTELY destroying Carley's lies, like legit obliterating her chances of winning and being the MVP?
To be fair, Carley didn't really have a good starting position.

He didn't choose to trust anybody. He had a Grandmother. That's not trust, that's confirmation. Everyone else he trusted wasn't trust either. That's confirmation from his own ability. He didn't trust anybody, because trust requires a lack of knowledge. He knew who was good.
It's not 100% blind trust, but both confirmations took trust to initiate. Telling your role to someone because they claim grandmother could out you to evil. Gambling on an evil plater's role could get you killed.

After how well this first game went, I was genuinely worried that the others wouldn't be as exciting. I was wrong. In fact, I went on to be wrong 5 times. So now I'm worried that season 2 won't be as exciting. Reckon I'll probably be wrong about it though.
We will always be excited for BoTC Ben. Never worry about that.
To be fair, I do that as well. I always expect the worst, so I’m either pleasantly surprised, or proven right. Either way, you can’t be disappointed if you always expect to be disappointed.
@@11th-lemon Every effect the demon could possibly have does not work on you. That includes killing and their other abilities (e.g: A monk in Trouble with Violets picks a Fortune Teller in a Vortox game, so the FT gets correct info)
@@11th-lemon It's when the demon doesn't stop you from enjoying a nice cup of Yorkshire tea. For real though, 'safe from the demon' literally means 'anything the demon does, does not happen to you'. For example, a Townsfolk protected by a Monk in a Vortox game learns correct info, because the Vortox causes Townsfolk to get incorrect info.
@@11th-lemon A starpass is part of the Imp’s ability, not the minion’s. If the Monk chooses a minion, they can still catch an Imp’s starpass. If the Monk selects the Imp who tries to kill themself, the kill and starpass will fail. (In TB, there will be no night death.) That’s rules-as-written and the standard interpretation from online guidance.
I know we all love Sully and Adam but the undeniable chemistry between Sully and Brooke is the cutest thing ever 🤩

The only complaint I have is it makes me occillate aggressively between adoration and jealousy, which is emotionally exhausting. Brully for life. I sleep now.

NRB playing BOTC is my escapism from my stressful life of having no friends to play with.

When Laurie entered the tent with Jon and Blair, the scene I envisioned was of this grown ass man living with his sweet sweet grandma, him all messed up after many crazy nights of gambling; entering a small tent with a giant horrendous beast, teeth as big as an arm, hairy, salivating, but wearing glasses and a mustache, claiming his name is "Mr. Good Humanman" and swearing on his life he would never feast on human flesh.

So happy this is back. The original in person BotC was what made me a patron, because I had to see the exclusive 2nd game. It's a testament to the time, effort and quality you've put into the presentation of this game.

The Kickstarter cash was well spent! Graphics look great, the decor is outstanding, and the atmosphere is properly gothic. Great editing and performances are just the norm for NRB, so no extra credit there. Thanks guys, looking forward to 5 more! ☺

That early good alliance made it really tough for evil, even though they played a solid game. I really do love the power that a role like grandmother carries!
I was just happy the good team trusted each other for once. Usually the good team will refuse to trust anyone, even when their abilities are telling them otherwise. Even here, Adam didn't fully entertain the idea his info was correct and led them down the Pukka path.
the lunatic distrust between Carley and Laurie, and the choice of who to resurrect(i think a res should have happened personally for sure but maybe Adam res could have been more ambiguous for the future) decided the game

@@Dragonatrix I completely agree that Carley fucked up majorly with this one. But resurrecting the exorcist in that situation was way too strong, because town literally had no way to lose. Either they got the minion and had the exorcist get the demon, or get the demon and the minion wouldn't be able to do anything anyway.

Jon, you really did it. You found, not one, but two people to tell the truth to who told you the truth back. The Fortune Teller Tent Thruple did what the Billiard Boys could not.
Very rough for Carley, though, not picking up on the Demon bluffs. I feel like that's something she absolutely would have picked up on in Zoom, where she would have notes. Having the reminder of what Laurie said right in front of her, I'm confident she would have pieced it together to make a valid claim. Instead, Carley wound up extremely unlucky picking three accounted for claims with Gossip, Gambler, and Outsider.
The production value in this one is insane

Being a storyteller for this game must be so hard, bringing back the excorcist made everything so Ironclad for the good team in hindsight. It was a great game and I'm so excited for the next episode!
It can be, but it is the most fun I have had playing this game.
Exorcist provides an out during a mastermind day assuming the town isn't as locked in as they were here
Yeah had Carley not double claimed an outsider, I think she could have spun a world where she wasn't evil. The whole game really came down to her not getting the bluffs.

@@eRON3000 Since Dom was 100% cleared by two known goods the only way Carley couldn't be evil was if Brooke was a minion that was targeted by her demon on day 1. Just extremely extremely unlikely. Also it was impossible for her to be the demon.
So actually it was 100% impossible for good to win after Brooke's resurrection. The only two possible demons were Laurie and Carley and they could lynch one and exorcise the other, just like they reasoned out. It was literally impossible for Carley to talk her way out of that plan. Their only hope was good just somehow not realizing this and ... Brooke choosing to exorcise Dom? The village lynching Brooke?! No, actually, there was really just no way.
I'm definitely using hindsight here, but this was definitely a storyteller mistake. It just ended the game flat out to bring Brooke back. If it wasn't the exorcist you could hope they lynch Carley, but with the exorcist in play and Dom cleared the game was just over.
Jon being the gambler after his performance as the gambler in Cosmic Encounter is perfect xD
Watched on the Kickstarter preview but wanted to come over to say what a tremendous piece of work this is from all involved!
The NRB crew have outdone themselves with this absolutely incredible piece of work. The set design, the production value, it’s all out of this world, and takes what are always entertaining BOTC games anyway and take them to the next level.
INCREDIBLE work, and so so so glad to know we still have 5 more of these to come.
Throwing out there early: i would ABSOLUTELY be happy to kickstart another season already based on this first episode!
Plus the rewards were more than adequate for the cost. NRB does NOT short on content if you give them money through patreon or Kickstarter.

Laurie might have saved this for evil by claiming to be a Professor that resurrected the Exorcist. That brings some of the other Demon types back onto the table, and gives him a completely solid claim.
considering Sullivan had already claimed Professor with no pushback from Laurie (and he'd already settled in to the Courtier bluff) I think trying to walk it back at the very end by going "no im the professor i did that" would just make them realise he's the Shab/confirm to them that he is evil
That first conversation between Carley and Laurie is brilliant. Laurie is being cautious because he might be a Lunatic so he wants to see what Carley says. And Carley is a Mastermind so she kind of wants Laurie to think he's a Lunatic so that he can say "Hey everyone, I'm the Lunatic, I talked to my supposed minions and they gave me other roles, go ahead and kill me now." Then it's the Mastermind day and all she has to do is not let herself or Sully die and it's an evil win.
Yet bc she didn't come out to her demon, she never got proper bluffs and therefore she got caught double-claiming. Poor move.
Adam: "I'm sorry (for nominating you)"
Scully: "that's alright, it happens..... Every time"
"YOOOOUUUU WERE BAD! YA BASTARD!" Such a glorious moment.
"We're trying to recruit you to our poly relationship" says the grandmother and grandchild...
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! What a wonderful production (including the ending song)! Also, 'BotC' is the only type of video when I think that 1.5 hours seem so short.
I know right?! I complained to my sister that it’s so short (in a, I want moooore way). And she was like… ITS AN HOUR AND A HALF?!?
I feel Sully claiming he was Professor when he absolutely didn't need to after his death is what did for the evil team. They were sitting *so* comfortably until the Exorcist resurrection happened and caused good to re-evaluate all their thinking up to that point. Laurie just had no out and was basically a sitting duck from that point on. Still a great game though!
I just want to say thank you to all the cast, and to Tom and Ben, but especially everyone behind the scenes... what a tremendous amount of teamwork that this had to come from. Great content. I wish this channel nothing but growth and success

Cool to see Isaac back, i feel like it's been a while since he's been on the show;
Just noticed Rosie's name in the credits as director/associate producer, I don't think Rosie's ever played BotC (?) but I'm hoping one day, can only imagine the kind of chaotic energy she would bring to the show, but still cool to see that she's doing stuff behind the scenes even if she doesn't want to play;
Rooting for Laurie to win one of these!
Rosie has taken part in a zoom episode of BotC that is on TH-cam (I, Carley, I, Zombie), in which it is disclosed that she has also appeared in a 2nd episode that had to be cut, implied to be because of technical difficulties.

SPOILERS AHEAD
I love Carley being well and incontrovertibly outed yet still, defiant til the end, dictating the terms. "In that case, you have to decide if you want to kill me." Brooke may be Lord of the Board, but all hail the Queen of the Clocktower

She lost because good team played very well, but in honesty, she is the evil player that made the most mistakes, including the one that made the game unwinnable for her team. (I think you can argue Laurie maybe should have killed one or more dead players, or possibly even Carley, instead of the two that he did kill. And you can argue that, once Sully died, he should not have claimed Professor so Laurie could keep that bluff in his back pocket in case someone came back), If she took a safer bluff, she would have had the tiniest veneer of a doubt, or at least a way to cast someone else as a minion.
It was a thin shot to victory, but Carley needed to insist she was a good, non minion, and that Brooke was possibly a Mastermind. She gambled too big on her lies and got burned.
In closing, I think each evil player made at least one major mistake, but Jon, Blair, and Dom played a hell of a game.

I'm shocked Laurie didn't try to play into the Pukka world longer. IMO, the strongest aspect of a Shaboloth is being able to convince the town that it's another demon in play, then make a kill on 4, usually ending the game, if the STs don't resurrect, but even if they do, the town's worlds are usually based on some wrong information, like thinking there's a Pukka or thinking an incorrect gossip was actually true, that they might not still work out on the final day.

Not sure I agree with the comments (or Laurie's screams) that the choice to bring back Brooke specifically made it unwinnable for evil, as the logic that hanged Laurie and Carley wasn't to do with her or her role, it was based on Dom being provably good and Carley's multiple double claims. It also was unlucky that good chose to off Laurie first, but even that's down to Carley reading as minion.
If anything, I'd say bringing one of them back gave evil an (admittedly slim) out, in that there was another option who wasn't demonstrably good they could've tried to pin an evil claim on.
Maybe proving the Shabaloth puts good on the right track, but even then, it seems like the same logic would've held if they were down to 3 and thought the demon was different: save Dom because he's good, leave Carley coz she's the Minion, therefore Laurie's the demon and has to die.
Can't bring back an evil because the Shab would have to pick one the previous night and Sully was never picked.

@@mykeCA82 Nope. My point was that evil (being Carley and Laurie) could've used the regurgitation to claim Brooke or Adam (whoever came back) was evil, it's just an ambiguity they could've jumped on because one of their problems in the endgame was how much locked in knowledge the good team had.
It 100% put them heavily on the back foot. Wasn’t great for balance sadly.
I was reeeaaally hoping that during the day where they executed Laurie he would have come up with the idea that Isaac could be the demon who was executed the day before, and the game just went on because of a mastermind.
I don't know if that would've worked at all, but I think it would have been evil's only shot.
