I love the combination of the paint and the sketchy lines of the pen together. I wish I had better sketching skills. Part of the reason I love painting is because it looks better than my sketches and because it helps me see where the lines should be if I do want to sketch in some lines. I really love how this one turned out! ❤
I especially like everything about this one! It’s elegant yet simple and uncomplicated. It has vintage charm. I will absolutely do a few cards with this idea. Thank you my friend, as always!XXXOX❤️❤️❤️
Diane - I agree - wayyyy too much drama out there. I enjoy your low key approach and the fun things you say! Animal sounds in the background earn you bonus points. Lol. I just received my art nouveau set this afternoon - this will be my first project! Thanks for the lovely tutorial!
Giving this idea a go for my mums birthday card…she was a spring lady in the UK but now being in NZ she now celebrates an autumn birthday🍂🧡. Love sketching into paintings .. I always thought it was cheating.. 🤭now I appreciate the added detail 😄
Diane,I can't say enough about this delicate vintage painting! The colors are so pretty and I love that you reminded us of the importance of adding shadows. Once you shadowed in that little area on the left it made the entire painting pop. The end of the video where we get a glimpse of your stunning vase of flowers plus added bonus of your sweet cat wandering about is adorable. By the way, I painted and framed the birds on vintage music sheet paper a while back and every time I look at it, it makes me happy and reminds me of just how far I've come in my sketching and painting skills. Sounds kind of funny to compliment myself (haha) but really the compliment goes to you. Without your excellent teaching, I wouldn't have come this far. Last night I made 8 Easter chick cards, (also from your recent tutorial) left them to dry overnight and today I get to embellish them! They are super cute and people will love getting them in the mail. Thank you again for making me look so good!
I enjoy these bouquets so much, especially the loose ones where the color meshes. As a newbie watercolor painter, I struggle to draw a stem that is thin enough so it looks natural. I'll keep practicing! Thank you for the inspiration.
You just need a brush that has a good point to it. Don’t try to do the stems with a tiny brush. A good quality size 8 round with a good point (Princeton Aqua Elite are readily available from Amazon.com - try this link Princeton Aqua Elite Synthetic Kolinsky Brush, Round, 8 amzn.to/42P6whE
This was very relaxing watching you paint the Pussy Willow. I have a vase in my kitchen with Pussy Willow stalks that I purchased a year ago from our supermarket which are coloured and they are just lovely. Thankyou Diane for your continued inspiration. Xx
I find that I am buying more supplies because of the beautiful work you do (perhaps I think I need it to create as well as you!) after all it’s all about the tools isn’t it? 😂😂😂
I know it sounds weird but my father used to put a tiny bit of salt in his coffee. Not a pinch, just a few grains. I don't know if it would make any difference to your symptoms but it softens the coffee and alleviates that awful after-coffee taste. Worth a try.
@@DianeAntoneStudio Dear Diane, I have been doing Zentangling for twenty years where there are no mistakes. Also, been taking private art lessons from a French art who like you has encouraged me to find my own style of art. Ten
Pussy Willow has always been one of my favorite trees. We had 2 huge trees when I was a kid. Later in life, I found dried cut Curly Pussy Willows at a flea market. I still have them in a vase. About the sketchbooks, how would compare mixed media to watercolor?
I think the mixed media paper has more sizing on it, so it will stand up to more friction - for me, the main thing is that it shines through the paint brightly and brings the colors out more vibrantly than some papers. Not always the effect you want, but great for whimsical animals, small florals etc. I like it.

Do paintings done with this kind of paint require being framed behind glass and mat? Can they be protected with some sealer to protect using the frame without glass? I am very new to this paint but do enjoy it. Thank you for your help; I love learning how you paint. Marilyn
I think it’s nicer to use glass because it enhances the painting as well as protecting it. And personally I haven’t tried sealing watercolors, although some people do. Matter of taste I think!
We have a bouquet of pussy willows in an old pewter teapot on the kitchen table...a tradition of longstanding in our home and every year I sketch it.. maybe now I’ll paint one! Do be careful, Diane, with your asthma as the hairy bits will soon be covered in pollen. It will shed all over as well. But enjoy them as long as you can. Susan
Hi Diane, I SO love this drawing and painting of the pussywillows! I would love to have this framed and put it in the hallway, main bathroom, or the master bedroom! Do you ever sell lithographs of a painting like this one? Awesome video! You are truly an awesome artist…no debate on that one…❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thankyou…
Hi Katherine! At the moment we have a special offer on - in celebration of reaching 100,000 subscribers - offering people the chance to buy the original work from my tutorials for just US$50 including shipping. So if you wanted to, you could buy this pussy willow sketch in the original! Let me know if you are interested!
I love pussy willows. When I was very small, my father and I went out and cut a bouquet of them to take to my mother in hospital. She had just given birth to my little brother. They have always had a special place in my heart.
This was so interesting. I'm inspired at how you started out with water drops and created these beautiful arrangements. My Mother had pussy willows all over her garden, and I loved them! This was a delight to watch, Diane. I'm going to give it a go! Thank you.
I bought a set of the kuratake paints, I've decided I don't care for them. I noticed that even after totally dry, if you paint near another color, it runs into the next. The colors are nice, but the running makes a real mess. For instance, you paint a black pupil, you let it dry, and then you come in and paint the color part yellow, it immediately runs into the yellow even after drying.
You should only drink organic coffee. I had a lot of negative affects from coffee, so I quit drinking it for years. A lot of coffee beans are sprayed with pesticides and such. That’s what causes reactions. I haven’t had any side affects at all since I started drinking organic.
We usually try to use organic Shari, but it was a package of instant coffee (which I haven’t drunk for years!) that I was given (long story) and I thought I’d give it a try because it’s quick! I will be throwing it out now and making sure we stick to organic of the best available quality. Thanks for reminding me how important this is!
Organic does nessesarily not mean pesticide free. Check the organic guidelines of your country. I was shocked in the US what is allowed as organic. Plus organic pesticides can be just as toxic. After all, arsenic is organic.😮
@@DianeAntoneStudio Its hard to eat healthy in this world these days. Remember when food was simple? Not much processed food when we were kids, and nothing got sprayed because my dad grew it!
Yes, people are a little over the top sometimes. These are beautiful! I had a pussy willow as a child, but I don't think it survived the SC heat. I like them very much, though.
