Diane, I have just recently found your channel and am hooked. I want to thank you for making me brave. I have wanted to paint my whole life, but can’t really draw. To be honest I tried once or twice and gave up. That was long ago. Now I have found your channel and the way you talk about painting is so empowering. It’s for fun! It doesn’t have to be perfect! You can fix it if it’s not right! I have been purchasing some paints now using your links and recommendations and have tried my first little birdie. Turned out OK. Thank you, again, for empowering me to try and just have fun. I am hooked!
Hi Pam and welcome to the channel! I'm so glad you found us, and really happy to know that you are finding the videos helpful and empowering! Art is nothing if it isn't fun! And you definitely don't need to be able to draw in order to paint! There are plenty of famous painters nowadays who prove that in every painting they do!!!!! Keep going with the little birds, who are very forgiving critters and love to be painted! Welcome again xxx
Pam, I know your message is meant for Diane, but I just wanted to say how happy I am you found her channel as well. She's really taught me how to paint in the most relaxing way. I've shared her channel with several family members and friends and they all agree, she's absolutely amazing and her style is definitely one of a kind. Wishing you happy painting!
I have loved using and learning more about Kuretake paints. Will look more product information regarding this brand! Thanks for all you teach! Karen Dirmish, learner!
Love these Kuretake paints -- I have them and have used them also on black watercolor paper -- they work great. I love the colors ! Thank you for this video -- great floral for cards ❤️ I appreciate all your ideas.
This was so enjoyable to watch! I felt like a friend was just chatting with me as they painted. I loved Frankie and the rooster joining in. Made the experience real.
I received my set of 48 Kuretake paints! Also a gift to myself! I LOVE them! For every reason! So yummy along with my set of Drawell brushes! Look out for me now!🤪 Diane you have made my world wonderful! I have saved all (I think) of your videos to watch over and over, trying to take in all the things you teach us. I’m a very happy old lady!❤️❤️❤️
@@DianeAntoneStudio not lip service here. Truly, it is thanks to you. I have learned more USEFUL and INFORMATIVE things from you in the months I have been following you than I had in many years of creating art in many forms. Your style, technique and approach, as I have said before, saved me. I wish I lived down the street from you, so I could ask for help over a cups! This week I got 2 commissions for original art pieces done in my new style…your style. These are new people, not ones that purchased my acrylic works previously. I am so grateful to you. I know I am being redundant, but it is so important for you (and your other lovely followers) to know that it’s NEVER too late to start or begin again, or find the joy of painting! And YOU are the channel they need. I am seeing the proof in the many comments, that you and Tansin have created a treasure find! War and Peace epic over!!!😁 sending love and light.❤️
You said maybe a Christmas gift for someone...well, Merry Christmas to me!! I will definitely be ordering a set of these paints soon. Thank you for sharing your new paints with us!! I have Kuretake metallic paints, three sets of them-Starry, Gem and Pearl and they are lovely so I just know this set will be a keeper.
Diane, I recently found your channel and I love your videos! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us and helping us become better and more confident amateurs in watercolor. I enjoyed a lot to do your whimsical landscape, your recent birds and the three cats. I am very new to drawing and watercolour , and your videos are very helpful.
I was a decorative painter for 40 years…used JoSonja paints….they are acrylic . Still have some…they made it through an F5 tornado! Our home did not….she is an amazing artist! I am now trying my hand at water colors at the age of 78. You have been so very helpful! Thank you for sharing!😊
Welcome to the channel Carol, so glad you are here! Sorry to hear about your home, that's awful. Glad you are enjoying the watercolor journey, it's very healing, and I hope to hear from you many times on here xx
Diane, I love watching you open your new paints and I love your demo! It turned out so beautifully and as always, you make it look so easy. Due to your recommendation, I ordered a set of these lovely paints and they arrive tomorrow. I'm like a little kid waiting and I love it! Thanks for making every day brighter. Wishing you and your family a happy and peaceful day. xo
Diane, I just ordered my own set of the Kuretake paints with your link! Found your little birds a couple of months ago. The rest is, shall we say, is history. LOVE all you do and I am learning soooo much! This is my first set of “big girl” paints and I just cant wait to receive them! Thanks you for your channel And love to ALL the critters and babies! ❤️
I love watching you. I have ordered several items off you Amazon list. The paints you are using is one I'm getting. Very exciting. I am brand new at painting.
Love this! I have all the Kuretake. And whilst you say it sounds odd. Saying Kuretake Gansai Tambi just makes me smile. I love how it rolls off the tongue.
I didn't have the Kuratake paints with me so I used what I had and it came out cute. I do love the Kuratake paints! Interesting that you mentioned water and acrylics because I've tried painting straight with them and can't get anything good. With water it went better!
Excellent, that’s really good to hear! People tend to think you have to use them straight out of the tube but that’s not what I have ever done. Maybe I should do a painting using watercolour style and acrylic paint sometime. That’s not a bad idea. Thanks for giving me the inspiration!

Just bought this palette and i am in love. I think they are very versatile… i use them for Watercolor painting of course but also in my mix media work. I really like them. No expert but i find them to be high quality …
Enjoy hearing about your watercolor journey from before covid... trips to Spain! Thank you for sharing this ❤️!!! You make me want to paint! A California Gramma ♥️
There are so many "professional" or claim to be products that it would take years and lots of money to decide winners and losers. So, thanks for sharing your talent and opinion. I look forward to seeing your project every day.
Hi Deborah, yes, you're right and I've hesitated for years over buying new materials. This is so inexpensive I thought it can't be any good, but the starry and graphite sets were so good I was convinced!
Thank you for this. I love your videos! I just bought this set for myself, for my birthday, as well. 🎉😊 Has anyone mentioned that you sound like the actress Nicola Walker!? Uncanny!🦋
Hi Diane, I have wanted to water color for years. I even have this set of paints, the Kuretake and have only done a paint swatch with it. I am loving your channel, thanks so much…..cyndi m.
Thanks! Maybe try using a little more water than you normally do? I agree they can be sticky if you don’t use enough water, and I find it helpful to pick up paint and put it into a separate little palette to paint from.
Diane how in the world can you paint a beautiful picture by just dabbing the pain. It's absolutely beautiful. I have the these watercolors and I just didn't know if they were really good or not because they are such a good price
Crazy about your style of showing off the Kuretake Paint Set! Can’t wait to swatch with reason! You never let us down. The cats, by name, the woof of the dog, topped off with the Cock! Perfection. Writing from Omaha, Nebraska.
I was told that the word games means vibrance and tambsi means aesthetic. I have a set and love them. And those are the brushes on my wish list! 😅😆😃 Love your tutorials...thank you!
I just have to laugh at your rant...my art teacher in high school said EXACTLY that "never use water with acrylic other than to wash your brush". And YES it was and has been very frustrating over the years. So now I am excited to try it with water. I used floating medium when I painted with acrylic.
Well I saw you pull out those shadow colors and thought… I like those… so I went to jet pens and looked at the reviews. All good reviews. While I was there I saw those graphite colors.. I ended up getting both of them along with the gold colors… Then I saw you pull out the big set of gansai colors and watched you paint with them. I’ve seen those paints many times but really had no idea about them. Swatching doesn’t really tell me anything. But I saw you paint a painting with them and thought, Why those are nice. I ended up with those too 😂
Yay!!!! Congratulations on your conversion! (Sorry for costing you so much money!) I'm going to use mine a lot, and I'm now looking for the gem and pearl colors!!!
I have this set and I really enjoy using them! For the price you cannot beat them. I mostly have M Graham, Daniel Smith and Mission Gold, but I like these just as much. Disclaimer: I am a beginner so perhaps I do not know the difference
Glad you like them! I totally agree with you, and I've been painting with many different well-known European and American brands for years. These are different from those brands. They are somewhere between gouache and watercolor, and they are very clean in color and mix well too. Some specialised artists might baulk at them, but we are just having fun and learning! You definitely can't beat the price!

I have already ordered the Kuretake 48 set, the Art Nouveau 24 set, and a similar brand of paints, 3 sets of 6 different colors from Boku-Undo. I am new to your channel so I do not know if you have found the “shadow black” ones from Boku - Undo. I think that you would like them. But, in purchasing all of these, that is a total of 90 colors. The pans for both brands are all the large size. Have you found some tin or carrier for these large pans, other than what they are shipped in? I would also like to purchase or have printed a LOT of the empty pans since I have started making my own watercolor paints.
Hi Linda, thanks for your message. I’m looking at the Boku Undo paints on Amazon and can’t figure out whether they are in plastic or cardboard pans. Can you let me know ? And I am wondering if there is much difference between them and the Kuretake Graphite set. What do you think? As far as containers for the large pans goes, I’ve put mine in two spare lids I had from the Meeden studio palette - it’s a plastic lid about 1 inch deep and about 13 inches square, and it holds over 30 pans leaving a large square in the middle for mixing. I show it in several recent videos like this one: th-cam.com/video/Bz9zAErdPRw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3QM07JU-K_vGhnsP at 4:51. I find this does very nicely for my painting style, and I have used the bottom of a Masterson staywet palette for the same kind of arrangement for my Art Nouveau set, just because I happened to have these two items. I’m wondering where you go to get things 3D printed. What a good idea!

Not the same really, the Starry colors are more intense I feel.
