Got one this year, and it's an amazing trail bike. Has the power and the comfort. Super reliable with the electric start , makes it easy to re-start the bike when you find yourself in a sketchy situation.
You should be sitting further up near the tank. When you sit your weight further back the rear suspension squats more, and the front tire gets less weight. Think of an old chopper. Standing is best but if you need to sit then get that weight further forward. Also if you're a taller guy like me handlebar risers are a must have. They make it way easier to stand up more often without your lower back getting tired. Lastly If you weight anything over 170 pounds the factory sag settings are way too light. Setting sag makes this bike handle like a dream. 90MM is target for this bike. I weigh 195 pounds and with gear on my sag was at 124MM. Nice riding.
Im trying to decide between the klx300r and the crf250f. could you do a side by side comparison, im worried the crf will be too small none of the dealers around me have one to sit on.
keepitmoving yeah, you’re right, the klx is a bit higher, but my brother can ride the klx with no issues, and he is like 5’6 or 5’7 (and he is a beginner too), but if you feel more comfortable on a lower bike then that’s the way to go. The downside is that once you get the hang of it you might want to upgrade to a faster bike. You don’t really need to put your feet on the ground, like once you get going there’s no need to, so I wouldn’t worry about that too much. Let me know what you end up buying :)
I battled in a race with my 250f against a 300r and my 250 beat it. They also are abt the same size. They both are easy but I’m 5’10 so I don’t know about you
i wound up getting the klx 300r. Im 5'10 and it is a tad tall but it has enough power for a beginner like me. Thank you for making this video it helped me make my decision.
I’m coming off a 12 year break of riding and looking for a bike to get back in it. Last two bikes were a 96 KDX 200 and 2000 KTM 250 SX. I’m a two stroke guy at heart. Had a XR250 once and found it to be to slow/tame for me. Was looking at this or the YZ250X, mostly trail riding and occasional table top jumps or other small ones. Think I may be disappointed in the power of this?
Hey! If I was you I would go for the YZ, it’s lighter, and I’m sure it’s faster. The klx is good, but it’s really heavy and it’s not that fast... the klx is really capable and it’s super reliable, but I still think the yz is a better option for you bc you have experience with 2t and stuff. Lmk if you have any other questions!
I'm brand new to dirtbikes, only rode (2) of em for a whole day.. Looking to make a first dirtbike purchase, had the 230R in mind (just so I can learn and not kill myself) and then saw this and thought I would grow into it as I learn more... I'm 5'11' + 220 pounds...which would you recommend ?!
The Topshelf Company I would recommend you the klx300r, it’s an amazing bike, it has enough power to do whatever you want and its really easy to control and maneuver, in my opinion is a perfect beginner bike. I think that if you buy a 230r you will want to upgrade to a new bike, with more power, in less than 3 months... and I also think it might be too small for you (no offense haha)... I’m 5’10’ and I weight around 150 pounds and the 300r is just perfect for me. Please let me know which one you decide buying!
@@themarcopolo. Got the 300R ! Taking it out this weekend. Question, on the 300R do you hold the clutch on the downshift, or do you just kick it down thru the gears no clutch ? Just trying to get my mechanics right before I get out there lol.
The Topshelf Company awesome dude! Congrats! In my personal experience you can just downshift without using the clutch, but I guess its up to you and what makes you feel more confortable. I almost never use the clutch when I’m riding, I guess I only use it when I brake hard with the rear break and when I’m on an uphill to keep the front tire on the ground. If you have any other questions, please let me know I’ll try my best to answer. Where are you gonna ride this weekend?
The Marco Polo Word ! Everybody has been screaming at me to use the clutch on EVERY shift whether it’s up or down, saying it’ll save the tranny + engine. But I was by my house, downshifting w/ no clutch and I loved it. This weekend we’ll be 45min north of LA in a town called Rosamond, CA. Ton of open land - fire roads - hills - trails.
The Topshelf Company well my dad has been doing Enduro for years, and as far as I know he has never had any transmission issues with any of his bikes , and now that you mention that I did some quick research to see if you should use the clutch when changing gears, and most websites and videos I saw say that you don’t have to 🤷🏽♂️. Cool dude, you should make some videos when you go there, it looks awesome!
Gaing355 - she’s an awesome bike dude, She’s fast, the suspension is awesome, the seat is so comfortable (compare to other dukes I have ridden) and idk I just love her haha
It’s definitely not as fast as the crf450x, but it can keep up with no issues, it just depends on the person riding it, and I think that the best way to make it faster is by putting a better exhaust, mapping and reducing weight since it’s a pretty heavy bike.
The Marco Polo well honestly I just want to know if this bike is fast because the klx 300 is way cheaper then the Honda but I want a high performance trail bike
Spencer S. Young it depends on how experience you are... if you are an advance rider, the best bike for you is the crf450x, it has a ton of power, and it feels really light on the trail, but I feel that the best bike for me is the klx300r because I’ve been riding for only a couple of months... and it’s just easier to control, and since is easier to control it allows me to go faster, and the crf250f is just too small for me so I haven’t ridden it as much...
Yeah, I had one and it’s great in the woods this guy is in the wrong gear, and still keeping up plus he’s obviously inexperienced. Plus you can license it and road it. I wouldn’t road a two stroke it’d blow up.
Nice riding buddy keep it up your get better with more time riding you KLX300R. I like to give you a helpful suggestion, put your breather hose back into your steering shift, thats where it belongs. When riding in dirt. It helps keeping dust from getting sucked into your fuel tank as your riding. Keep on have fun. 🇺🇲🤙🏼
We were not going that fast tbh haha, I recommend you to watch my new video, so you can have an idea of how the bike really handles since i didn’t really know what I was doing in this one
I wonder if the KLX 300 dual sport headlight would mount up. It would add a lot to the appearance of the bike.
I ride the same trail on the same bike. I can go so fast that it feels like a roller coaster ride. This bike is so fun!
Got one this year, and it's an amazing trail bike. Has the power and the comfort. Super reliable with the electric start , makes it easy to re-start the bike when you find yourself in a sketchy situation.
Jason Colon I completely agree with you, it’s an awesome bike! I hope you enjoy it!
when you say "I got one this year" what bike are you talking about
@@devinbrunson4871 2020 KLX300R

I definitely adjusted the sag on this bike and it made it a completely different bike, I love it even more.

Nick Schmneck I might do a video a little comparison video this weekend! and my brother is the one riding the crf250f and he is like 5’6 or 5’7.

Lol. Unless you're 100lbs and the guy on the 300r is 500lbs there's no way a 250f LOL should beat the klx 300r

Which bike do you prefer the crf 250f or this klx300R?
I prefer the klx300r. It’s faster and it’s bigger. The crf250f is too small for me.
@@themarcopolo.how tall are you ? I’m 5’11 but don’t know if i should get the Kawasaki KLX 300R or Honda CRF 250F ?
@@StevieDee73 I’m also 5’11

New to dirt bikes. Just pick up a 300r my self. Whats the range of the bike with this style of riding
Crazy Newman what do you mean by “the range”?
Hes asking how many miles can you ride on a full tank.
I usually can get about 2and a half days of feul out if the 250f
Yo my man good vid
Thanks dude! Appreciate it

i don’t have one of these bikes so i don’t know how they are heated or where the power and starts but, it sounds like you are riding a gear low bud.
You’re right, back then I didn’t have much experience so I was making a lot of mistakes
@@themarcopolo. i made so many typos in that comment lol
He's getting it ,,riding takes years of experience to learn everything
What's the verdict on the KLX??
I love Kawasaki but Honda is best in the air cooled department.
Both bikes are awesome! Thanks for the comment
I believe the klx 300r is liquid cooled
how fast is the kx 300r? is it faster then the crf 450x? and what mods would you put on the kx 300r to make it faster
