Been having fun playing MK8DX 200cc this summer, here are some shortcuts to learn to improve your skills!
You'll notice a lot of the best shortcuts in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 200cc involve getting through offroad without losing much speed (examples on Dry Dry Desert, GBA Mario Circuit, Bone Dry Dunes etc), I can make a tutorial on how to do this if that is something you guys are interested in!
I personally use all of these online and I recommend learning them! The only ones I don't think are worth the risk are the Bowser's Castle corner cut and the first Big Blue corner cut (before the ultra) because the risk outweighs the reward.

Nice video Troy, although most of these are obviously old or may be performed in better ways.
Little tip: the waterfall gap in Yoshi Circuit can be done by only charging a MT on it and it's faster than tricking. Also, the music choice is awesome! ;)

What? Plenty of these shortcuts are unintended. A lot of them are just simple shroomless grass cuts, I know, so maybe not as glamorous as MKWii. But they're still difficult and save time. MK8D may not be as broken as MKWii but it's still a good fun game.

They're still difficult to pull off consistently. I would prefer a decently challenging cut that saves around 3-6 seconds over these ultra shortcuts that are still very challenging don't get me wrong, but they shave like a minute off of your time. That just screams unpolished and unbalanced. Despite this, MKWii was probably just a lot more fun, mainly because of how easy it was to catch up compared to now and with CTs getting rid of these ultra shortcuts and getting shortcuts which are so rewarding to pull off whilst being a good challenge, it became one of the most fun and competitive racing games.
