+Michael Pennington Thanks! Hopefully I'm explaining them well enough.

Absolutely. I learn something each time. Your pacing is great and the info is always top notch. I'm trying to get as comfortable in Tableau as I am in Excel, but it is taking me longer than I would like. Of course I've been using Excel for 20 years, so it may take a while. I am starting to get there and resources like your are exactly the reason. The Tableau community is really great and I consider you quite the ambassador.

+Michael Pennington the trick as an Excel user is to NOT use Excel and don't think about Tableau like you do Excel. Once you think like Tableau, it'll all click! You'll know it when it happens. There's a blog series on The Information Lab blog for going from excel to Tableau.

Good explains but I'm confused somewhere at 4:22. Could you please explain why the difference is Sum([profit]) - Sum([Profit of Chosen Subcategory]) rather than Sum([profit]) - ([Profit of Chosen Subcategory])

Hi Andy, your videos are really helpful. I am struggling with getting totals at the top of each bars in a stacked waterfall chart. Can you make a video on that pls?

I tried different method as i got confused with exclude part. i used following formula: window_max(sum(if [Sub-Category] = [Sub Cat param] then [Profit] end))
BTW i am huge fan of yours, i have learnt a lot from you!

    Thanks for ur tip tuesday.
Question: is possible to create a calculated field that filter one dem which sort another
    Ex:
Place dem a on the filter then select 4
Place dem b on the row shelf to only see b that applies to selection 4

Would be great if you could add to your videos what version of Tableau you need to access these functions, eg. Using a dimension as the source for a parameters list.

If you download the workbook from Tableau Public, I believe you can choose the version to download it as. Otherwise, you can unzip the file that you download and then open the tableau workbook with a text editor. You’ll find there version there. I’m constantly updating to the latest version, so stating this with each video wouldn’t be relevant.

In the Difference LOD you selected the chosen category. was that parameter you created before because did not see it. I was trying to duplicate your formula.

    Great video ....
Is it possible to reflect two views on one filter like first sheet will show the data which we have included in filter and second sheet show the data which we have excluded on same filter?

Hi, Thanks for this. What if parameter source column is having millions of records and we cant ask user to select as we dont have feature to search value in parameter. Is there any other way to do this with more user friendly? Thanks in advance.

    • @vizwiz
      @vizwiz  ปีที่แล้ว

There’s always a search available in a parameter. You can have the parameter with no values in it and then let them type in a value.

@@vizwiz Agree, thats the only option.
In above video you have taken profit and since it is aggregated you have used sum function. If my measure is coming based on multiple if then conditions and calculations then can u help how can we handle that situation? Thanks!

Could you please help how we can create exclude lod if we have a measure calculated based on if conditions n few calculations in that if condition.
