    I'm an old analog dog, coming out to record my songs in the new frontier after 10 years or so of doing nothing. These clips are great for me. Clear and concise and right on the money. I have a feeling I'm going to be watching MANY of them! Thanks!

      Glad to have helped! Believe it or not, I'd take an SSL console and some decent outboard gear over DAWs and plug-ins anyday! I've had the pleasure of mixing on an SSL4000G and I love it.

      @musicmann1967 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MusicTechHelpGuy I haven't mixed on an SSL, though I've been working in studios forever I'm a mastering engineer, so recording for me has always been more of a hobby. I had a very extensive analog home studio, with racks of hardware. I loved it, but not the maintenance!!! hehehe

    Thank you sr for instructing us in this video. I have been watching your video tutorials on logic pro x and I have been able to make music in no time knowing close to nothing about recording. You are a wonderful teacher man, thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos.

    Just wanna say thanks for these videos mate, honestly I got Logic Pro x 2 months ago never have used a daw before I've either recorded at pro studios or on my tascam cassette 4 track lol and when I first opened up logic I had no idea, since watch your videos I've learnt so much I'm zooming around the system and actually has made me think more about the songs I'm writing. Thanks man.

    Thank you so much for making these. I have always wanted to learn music and music production but due to various circumstances throughout my life I was never able to. This tutorial series makes using Logic far less scary so I can finally dive in and start creating the music I really want. I look forward to when you cover more of the plugin interfaces that are still really complicated to me. (Your ES2 series was great by the way!) Thanks again!

    Hi Joshua, I found out what was wrong. At least in my computer, I have to hold shift+option to get the velocity of all the notes to go to the same amount. Great! Once again, thanks very much for all the videos you've done. It really help us all a lot. God bless you buddy!

    Great tutorial series, best one in my opinion, here some changes in newer versions of Logic:
    Overlap/force legato Shortcuts:
    - ù
    - SHIFT ù
    Now with backslash key you can quickly access to the various editing tools
    Scissor tool: OPTION+Click allows to cut an event in multiple pieces in the same lenght

    I've been using Logic since Version 4, whilst it was still owned by Emagic and available on PC, So I'm fairly proficient with the software ( I use it for work) and I've only just realised you can do what you are doing at 18:00 with the step input. I've either played or drew those types of arpeggio patterns for the best part of 20 years lol. I've always just brushed the step input to one side as something I don't need to use. Might have to start using it now

    These are really very helpful videos. I was hoping to see something about scrubbing tracks in Piano Roll. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I've followed the directions in the manual, and when I grab the play head it just bounces around and takes off making it totally useless. I wrote Apple about it three years ago with LP9 hoping they would fix this, but it still exists in LP10. Do you or anybody out there know how to make it work?

    Is there any feature to set the loop length in piano roll just like in Ableton? Example if I only need 1 to 2 ( 1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2 ) in Logic so I don’t have to draw all the way to the right. Thank you in advance.

  • @JohnMcConnell113

    awesome video. I noticed in FL studio when you play notes in the piano roll on your midi keyboard that the notes highlight which seems to make it easier to place notes in the right spot. Do you know if there is any way to use a function such as this in logic x?

  • @ryan.9023
    @ryan.9023 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Apple changing keyboard shortcuts after 1 version? That’s ridiculous. I’ve been an Ableton user for 10+ years and they never jerked me around like that and stuff like MIDI I/O is so much easier. Guess that’s what $200 buys you. I’m really liking the channel strips and general sound quality over Ableton tho. Can’t record in 48khz, but it works!

    Great videos man!! They are full of great advice and tricks. I have a question ( I have more...but maybe in the next videos you will cover my doubts ): I have a Korg Kronos as a keyboard ( by the way is my father's keyboard ), should I use those sounds ( and learn how to create great sound with that monster machine ) or use the Logic instrument??
    Thank you, and sorry for my english :)

    I'm thinking about buying the iMac 27" with the standard 1TB serial ATA drive.
    For music recording with Logic Pro X, HD video editing... do you think it is necessary to upgrade to SSD drive or is the one the comes default more than enough?

    • @jaredsilvers2782
      @jaredsilvers2782 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      An SSD drive is well beyond worth the money. You won't have problems with the setup you mentioned, but you'll spend hours and hours less time waiting for loading, freezes, etc if you get the SSD. The difference between 4gb ram and 16gb ram is smaller than the difference between having an SSD and not having one; trust me get the SSD.

    When I create an empty midi region it creates a very small region and then instead of letting me expand the region so I have more room to input from the step editor it just allows me to loop the region? How do I change it so I can expand the region vs. just creating multiple loops of the smaller region?

  • @nagol5178
    @nagol5178 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you did the edit without the metronome, you programmed a note one after another. What if there is space in-between? Such as a kick on the front of the bar and a snare at the end of the bar? Is there anyway to insert nothing? That way I don't have to drag it over and insert the kick?

  • @AlanTaylorWest

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The synthesizer itself might have an envelope setting that is causing it to stop short before the end of your note. Or the MIDI region might end before the end of the last note itself.

    What if all the notes in the piano roll are at different velocities, since I played it by hand, and I want them all the same velocity?is there a way to quickly make them all the same velocity without manually changing each of them? My favorite brass patch automatically switches to a different articulation depending on how loud(fast) I press the key, but I'd like to get them all the same velocity.
