THERMACELL ANY GOOD | OR DANGEROUS | REVIEW MR300

  • Thermacell is both hated and loved, mostly due to the ingredients and that it effects more than just mosquitos. Today I review the Thermacell MR300 and during the review I talk about my experience using it and dig a little bit deeper on IF the Thermacell is Dangerous or not.
Then we also have to think about the risks of virus and diseases that Mosquitos spread in some areas of the world, how then to compare the risk for diseases and the release of a potential "dangerous" substance? Not always an ease choice.

    Thanks for reviewing this.
I've seen Thermacell in the stores.
    Always wondered whether it works.

You’re welcome…🙏🏻 and be sure also to check out the smaller one, Light Repell if you are interested in a comparison between two options 🙂

@@roberthammenrudh Yes, I started on that vid. Fuel is much more energy dense than batteries. If I used a cannister stove then Thermacell's hiker version would be great. One small canister should be good for a weekend of cooking and repelling.
Either way, it would be nice to get rid of mosquitoes without the sticky feel of repellent on my skin (or the heat of extra clothing).
Somewhat surprising that nobody else reviews something that is so obviously necessary. After all, isn't the main reason that people carry tents because of mosquitoes? If not for flying pests, more people would use a tarp; and then only for bad weather.
Perhaps the cost of the materials lessens popularity? It could become expensive if you used it all Summer long. I suppose that is one advantage of the Light Repel: Renewable "fuel" source.

I just spent a week in Wisconsin by Moose Lake. And Let me tell you this this works. I pretreated my pants and long sleeve travel shirts with Permethrin, and used DEET on my hands neck and face. But the DEET and Permethrin did not stop the mosquitoes from flying around buzzing and driving me nuts. Fired up the Thermacell, let it heat up to off gas the pad and peace and quiet.
I even found it useful to kill them off in the car. Opening the hatch to get at the cooler etc they swooped in and were everywhere. If I had to drive into town for gas or food, fire it up, leave it in the car for about 10-30 minutes....
I will be trying the hack of refilling the butane myself, there are videos on how to do it. Seems cheaper to buy butane and do it yourself to me...

Yea it’s a blessing to have as backup and it truly do work! Haven’t tried the butan “hack” but let me know how it’s working out for you… maybe I’ll try it out.

You stated that -- for people, the amounts of Allethrin that are being released -- are not dangerous. Can you tell us what research your are citing, that can back up this claim? Thank you.

At the time of making the episode and the research I read at the time…still stand by the comments made. I will do another episode soon on another product in the same category and I will then do some more research so…if there is any news in the area I will catch up then. Until then 🤷🏼‍♂️ if you have any news, links or research saying the opposite, please share 🙂

the way peoples' mentality works is they only see something as dangerous if there is a noticeable effect within a short period of time that they can easily attribute to something. But if the effect is slow, like for example a slow destruction of the endocrine system, then it is not seen as harmful.

Midges and mosquitos are both members of the order Diptera (flies), so, maybe. Try it and let us know.
