I’m a beginner also but l learned enough to do this. I’m a seasoned crafter so that, l think, gives the confidence l need. I know this will take practice but just about everything gets better with practice. The best way is to jump in and try because you’ll never know or learn unless you try. You might just figure it out on your first or second try that you can do it just as well as the other crafters around you. We are so lucky to have the internet to teach us. I had to self teach myself on so many crafts by taking classes or reading up or finding someone who already knew how to do what you wanted to learn. Hope my rambling made sense. Try before you say “..that’s too advanced for me”. You just want know if you don’t try. So go for it , all you viewers out there !!
Thanks for that- I couldn't agree more! I love TH-cam and often get lost there myself because there are so many talented crafters and artists with so much to offer. But the trick is to balance out the viewing time with the doing time :) You really never know (or really learn it well) until you try!
Thank you soo much for sharing this video and tips, I really appreciate it since I'm a beginner and have procrastinated a lot and finally decided to give it a try! Your information is perfect for people like me, it is very informative and easy enough to follow, I DO appreciate it a lot!! 💗
I’m happy I found you! I follow Kristin too, she’s my original inspiration. I’ve done dozens of mandalas in fact I’m possessed by them I think . Happy dotting and teaching.
I just started dotting - on a recommendation from another group I bought a set of 28 metal transfer punches (made by Pittsburgh, bought at Harbor Freight) lots of sizes for not much $$ and easy to use / clean.
Great suggestion- thanks for sharing! Regular wooden pencils can also be used to create just about any size circle (of course max size is limited by the diameter of the pencil) with the help of a pencil sharpener. This is Beautiful. I think, sometimes, the "imperfections" in art, are the Eye grabbers for others... I know, as an artist. I can see Every "flaw" where others see beauty... We Are our Own Worst Critics...
I'd like to issue a challenge to dot mandala artists to paint a very small mandala on the wooden tower block tile, like those from the Dollar Tree. They measure about 2 inches long and 5/8 inches wide. I have a bunch of these and am trying to figure out something to do with them to preferably create pendants. I've never done a dot mandala and would love to see what someone could do with these little blocks. Thanks.
I tried to find what brand of circular protractor tool you used. Did not find a list on you website. Could you please tell us what brand it is and where you purchased it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to make this video, it was very informative. Love your art. Thanks
Thank you so much. I saw those online, but it didn't look like what you were using...of course. Will head to Hobby Lobby tomorrow. I should have mentioned this in the previous email...my bad. Loved your video and thanks so much for sharing your information. It is much appreciated.

I used a white Gelly roll 08 pen (by Sakura) which is water soluble so after the paint was completely dry I "erased" the lines with a damp cotton swab. Some of the deeper lines (in areas where I pressed too hard) were difficult to remove so I used the black background paint to touch up where needed.
on 554 .. she said to use white charcoal pencil would be best, as the gel pen she was using wipe off right away so to leave a light line, but when pushing too hard it showed up as ridge.
One of the best things about mandalas is that they are all uniquely different and don't require you to follow a pattern. You shouldn't feel like you need to copy this (or any design) dot by dot. Just use videos like this one to help you learn the process, tools and techniques used by others and then make your own masterpiece!
+Blue Quarry Art I'm new....like just today. I need true big beginner stuff like how to space, get differnt size dots, how to fix mistakes and some very simple designs to practice 100 times till I get the hand of things to try on my own. You can't make your own masterpiece when you don't know what your doing. Your work is very nice but more for ladies who know what their doing. Don't get me wrong I will be looking for your videos cause your work is great, just not beginner level I don't thing 😉
Yes I agree, practice is the best way to get better at anything. I'm not sure if you watched the entire video but here are some shortcuts to where I address your questions...How I space my dots along the circles (10:45 and 13:55); How to get different size dots with the same tool (12:05); How to touch-up and fix mistakes (7:33, 15:05, 19:00, 26:30, 27:55). You might also want to check out my video on how to make dot mandala tools (for a variety of dot sizes), and Kristin Uhrig has a lot of great videos and beautiful designs. Good luck!
@@bluequarry thank you for this video, I found you on another video and left a question about whether or not to submerge the entire ball stylist in paint or not and you answered that question on this video. Thank you so much for your videos. And I think this is just fine for beginners because you give us an idea of tools used how to use them. I truly thought it was fantastic. I'm sorry that person felt negatively towards you. Perhaps somebody has some beginner patterns out there. Anyway like you say mandala is your own creation and I just would hate for you to feel discouraged because I feel so informed from watching this as well as your other video. Like I said I truly wish I'd seen this one first otherwise I wouldn't have troubled you with my questions 😂 have a beautiful night ️ ❤️
Really like your clear instructions and how you corrected the areas you were not satisfied with. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you for your kind comment- I am so glad you found this helpful and wish you the best on your creative journey!
I like the multiple designs on one page. I have only done one dot mandala and your video was inspiring. Thank you
Thanks- I'm glad you liked it

I find mandala-making to be very calming which is a great thing these days. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I really enjoyed this demonstration. It was informative and helpful. Thank you for sharing it. I hope to try it today.
Thank you for sharing your process. I have not done any dot painting yet, but getting a few supplies, and trying to learn as much as I can,🎨💝💙

Yes, that inner critic is a tough one!
Such beautiful work. You are so talented! Thanks much for the help. (And the music is great, too--who is that?)
Thank you! The details of the music are in the description :)
Where do you get the jelly marker?
Me fascina ver el arte que tienes ,espero poder imitarte algún dia.

What was the liquid in the small clear bottle for?
The small spray bottle just had plain tap water for diluting my paint.
BEAUTIFUL

Hello Sunny- It's a Helix brand Angle & Circle Maker, 15cm/6in 360 degree. I found it at my local Hobby Lobby store. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much. I saw those online, but it didn't look like what you were using...of course. Will head to Hobby Lobby tomorrow. I should have mentioned this in the previous email...my bad. Loved your video and thanks so much for sharing your information. It is much appreciated.
I like the way you combined the 3 circular patterns to form a pretty design space. Your color choices are quite harmonious.
Preciso da legenda em português!
Do you sell the books that you make? If so where can I find the link?
No I don't sell the books but I do offer an Artful Journals course to teach you how to make your own journals. (So sorry for the delayed response!)
Por favor! Coloca legenda em português! Obrigada,

I tried my 1 st painting. I'm having a really tough time with the styluses. Especially walking the dots. Any advice?
Need to have way less pressure where the tiny dots go
Hello, can you tell me where you got the round ruler from. :)
The details for the circular protractor are in the description.
Sandy Phipps You might look, at Michael's 😉
Nice!
Can you explain how did you erase the white lines? I did not get this part!

For beginners ?!?!😳 you do understand we have never done this before....and you did a design with a million dots !! Not for beginners 😒
