Johnny, the most basic advice during an air raid is to stay away from windows. Your friend from the Hospitallers will confirm you. From the explosive impact, the windows fly out and all the fragments fly in your direction if you are nearby. Stay away from windows and any mirrors.
In many places when a hurricane is coming in they tape up an X across the windows to reduce the risk of shards should the glass break... This is of course not a guarantee nothing bad can happen, but it's a small effort that doesn't disturb too much, you can still keep an eye on what happens outside, yet if the windows break it will make a difference. But of course, if an explosion gets too close, the tape won't help much, but neither would plywood.
@@BenjaminVestergaard In Ukraine, some windows are also sealed this way, usually in stores with large windows. Yes, this will not help much, but at least the fragments will not scatter much around.
@@JustAKidder You are right, sirens are turned on for a reason, but to notify residents of a threat and to take care of their safety, for example, stay away from windows and easily breaking objects that can cause injury.
Guys, I live in Cherkasy oblast, Ukraine. We all understand the risk, but living in constant fear is worse then death. Mental health is getting ruined, so people try to live normal life. After almost one year of war you would do the same.
I love the beautiful Christmas Trees, the gym, the supermarket looks well stocked, people out and about. I hope everything in Ukraine returns to normal soon and everyone will have plenty of power and be happy with their friends and families.
I was thinking the same thing! It is wonderful to see everything operating as normal and that Ukrainians are not freezing to death as Russia would love to believe. I have so much admiration and respect and love for Ukraine. 🍾🥂🖕🏻Putin
We brought my family from occupied Zaporizhzhia and just watching this makes me happy they are here with me. God Bless and you should probably have a "go bag" ready just in case...essential document, flashlight, etc.
That "go bag" is a great idea. I hope Johnny takes this to heart. Things like an extra phone charger, extra set of car keys, contact lenses and fluids, toothbrush, etc. should be included. Anything necessary in case you're away from home for a few days or more needs to be ready to go in case of emergency. You may not have time to think if something does happen. And it needs to be kept by the door for quick and easy access. (We may need to bring this idea up again with Johnny. No joke.) Happy New Year!
@Porsche151 They took the the last bus out before the occupied border closed, then the last train out of Zaporizhzhia, it took them 30 hours to Kiev and then to the border because the train had to reroute 3 times due to the bombing. They are in the US with me now.
@Allison Marlow I know, I made my family do it when the war first started. It's why they were able to get out quickly and with all their documents...however, grandma still left her dentures in the bombed house. Getting new ones made now. In hindsight, they wished they had included some family pictures and memorabilia as well. Maybe we can recover them after the war...

Have you prepared an emergency bag, in case you need to rush to a shelter ? A bottle of water, a few energy snacks, a roll of toilet paper, a small power bank, headlamp,...? 🙂
Johnny, you’ve got a lot of comments to go through so I’ll try to stay on point. Get yourself some plastic (polyethylene) film (the thicker the better, comes in “mil” sizes like 4 or 6mil), or if you can’t get that any plastic will do but you might need to double up on it. Poly is good cuz it’s mostly transparent too so light will still come in. Anyways, get some of that and some rolls of packing tape or duct tape if there’s no packing. Get on utube and follow some guides for installing it, both as an insulator as well as to protect your existing windows from overpressure. With just that stuff and done right, you have a good change of saving your windows if something goes bang relatively close. You could benefit from the poly keeping the cold air out while leaving your windows open a crack (or other ways to install it from the outside and by leaving a gap between the poly and your windows)... Same deal with your car. Use the clear packing tape at least on the drivers door window inside and as often as you can while driving around, leave a window or two in the back cracked open a centimetre for the same reasons - to help prevent them from shattering from overpressure - especially with you in the the vehicle! Ask Brandon for help if you must as he’ll know the details too... Stay safe bud and keep sharp! Happy belated 2023!! 🎉

Fortunately, everything went well. People so underestimate their own vulnerability. First of all - glass. When I cleaned the glass fragments from the windows of my apartment, small fragments of glass were everywhere, even there, there was no way it could be - in a closed lockers. During an explosion, debris moves not only in the direction from the explosion, but also in the opposite direction, moving chaotically, forming a kind of chaotic cloud of debris. You definitely don't want to be in the middle of such a cloud.

Love from Vikki in Beavercreek, Oregon USA 💙💛🙏
I just returned from Ukraine and this is the best video that I have seen to realistically explain and show what is happening there and that includes all news networks. Good job
To me what you are doing is not worth the fear and stress. Life is too short...
Happy New Year! Looks like a great gym. Wish you good things in the years to come.
Oh yeah kahlua. I love this in my coffee im the morning. Best wishes from germany
Happy New Year Johnny. I hope all is good.🙃
з Новим Роком Johnny!

I'm on Kostolna street. I heard about 4 explosions. I couldn't tell if it was from ADA interceptions or if they were impacts. I heard an elderly man was wounded and his daughter was killed by at least one impact.
Get away from the windows 🪟🪟 Johnny!!!
Thank you for sharing Johnny.
Did you get to play "Super Nintendo" yet?
