Buy an electric blanket that you can sleep on, they even make them with rechargable batteries so you don't need to keep it plugged in all the time. If you can afford if course. Also keep humidity low in your home, you won't feel low temp that much.

hi Johnny you know you can use your airco as heater? It's a heat pump you should be able to use it for warming up when you have electricity. Hope it helps
Air source heat pump, ASHP. Depending on the device specs and outside temperature it can give 4kW thermal energy from 1kW electric energy. He should definitely use it and not floor heating.
I have heat but here in Alaska, when it's been consistently at 10° below zero my house feels like I have no heat every night. I have to keep the oven door open with the oven on & use a space heater to stay warm. I also put layers on & sleep with a mink blanket. It helps, best wishes to you, stay warm and I hope you have a Merry Christmas. 🎄🎁
I feel you Johnny. I have been sick with a really bad flu and have not eaten for 5 days. Just water and a bit of juice. I can imagine sick and without heat. Look after yourself.
Wool knit blankets, one or two of them for the bed and couch. Chicken soup is the best for colds. Vicks VapoRub for chest and inside the nose, a little bit in each nostril helps clear the sinuses to breathe. Hot water bottles to keep warm. Anything made of Wool for clothes. Buy some wet wipes if you can't heat water to stay clean. Jump in the car warm it up, take a drive, plug in the phone charger. Go to shop center, get a zip-out sleeping bag, use as top bed cover. Buy some long-john underwear. Buy some Bigelow Green Tea with Elderberry plus vitamin C, comes 18 packets per box, get some. Butane camp stove to heat water for Tea/instant soup.
No heat is really tough. I slept in a guestroom visiting a relative who lives in the mountains (Europe) during march. And there was no heating on the floor I stayed because they don't heat the rooms they don't use and I just stayed for 2/3 days. no matter how many blankets you have, your ears freeze off and you can't just remove the blanket to go to the toilet because it's freezing cold
In the old days people used beds which had wooden walls and ceiling. Like a box. Later they began using drapery. Bed poles and canopy. Like sleeping in a tent. High ceiling rooms are cold because heat escapes up. Upstairs neighbour will get some help from Johnny if he starts using the air heat pump.
Appreciate Jonny going through this with the Ukrainian people. He can always leave to America and be warm and comfortable again but he's there feeling what Ukrainians are, very cool.
So sorry about the heat and electric, but at least you have water and internet. On one level Kyiv is the Sarajevo of 2022, though the latter had it much worse. When that city was under siege in the '90s people had to risk their lives dodging Russia-backed Serb snipers to get water. And for heat they rigged connections to the main gas line. But their gas was odorless, hence many died due to lighting candles as they couldn't detect leaks. As for driving in a blackout, Londoners drove with headlights off intentionally in WW2 to hide from Nazi bombers; however this resulted in more deaths from accidents than from the bombings. Anyway hope you recover quick; I recommend Vitamins C, D, echinacea, elderberry syrup, and green tea with Manuka honey. Actually San Fran. is in the 50s F now, but the rest of the US is about to get slammed with the "bomb cyclone". 16:37 280mgs; pretty good! 17:20 The Wall used to be one of my faves too. But, dude, you do know that Roger Waters is a pro-Russian fool...for me it's cognitive dissonance. Stay safe. Слава Україні!
fyi. You can drive a car with low coolant during the winter. Just be careful if you are stopped for too long and running in idle. The air while driving is what cools it down it mostly. also if it is a slow leak...just add mostly regular water for almost free....antifreeze is just that. Specifically designed to keep water from freezing. A little goes a long way.
You should get one of those extreme weather tents like people use for ice fishing. You could set it up in your guest room. 😂 They are sort of like igloos! My backpacking equipment would be so good for emergencies. I’m starting to become a survivalist! Hahaha
This one is, if not the top, one of your best videos I've ever seen, even though unfortunately it involves your suffering. It brings the reality of the horror of Putler to light. Thank you, Johnny, and I wish you the best of luck coping. After seeing this, if I have a power failure from a storm in the U.S. where I am, I'll probably laugh and tell myself how lucky I am. I'll also know a bit more about how to keep warm without power.
-30 Celsius here, lucky it's not too cold there. I eat raw, unpasteurized honey when I get a throat infection. That might help and a lot of black tea. Cheers!
Stay safe Johnny and take care .. i lost my power here above the Artic circle for 1 month while temperature was -10c to -18c because i could not pay my power bill .i putted up my tent in my smallest bedroom and used the sleeping bag to keep warm . burning those small "te-candles" generated some heat
Johnny things are starting to get even more serious I have the feeling neither side want to lose the war, I hope you can find the opportunity to leave Ukraine.💯
I live in Lviv, had almost no heat from start of this winter. So here is my way of survivial ) 2 layers of socks, first is slightly tight but thin, second is lose and warm. Sippers(preferably with some wool or something like that). Underpants(підштаники or thermal underware) , 2 layers of shirts(same principle as with socks). For the night i have 2 blankets, first layer is regular blanket, and second is 50% wool(bought for like 600 grivens).
The battery banks on the cell sites only last so long without mains power, same with the telephone exchanges, even though it hey normally have a backup generator.
Johnny, you need to have some water (like 10% load of your bath tube) so you will be able to flush your toilet. You have saved some water there, - but you will run out of it pretty fast. It's cool you have many different options how to keep yourself warm. But be careful, - if your lungs gonna catch cold, - it might be very difficult for you to recover, - cause hospitals will not have everything they need. And to catch cold in the lungs, - this is horrible decease. Just don't get it. Keep yourself warm. Cheers.
Kyiv is not a active war zone, but it could potentially become one if Putin decides on a new offensive. The war zone can probably be called Kharkiv (it is fired from rocket artillery periodically), Kherson (fired from all types of guns), and a number of small towns in the south and east of Ukraine.
Get yourself a down sleeping bag and a fleeced blanket. In the old days before electric blankets we also boiled water poured it in a bottle and wrapped the bottle in a flannel to put at your feet.
Ionic zinc lozenges, like Cold Eeze, zinc pills, D3, and if you can boil water breathe in steam. I chaded all colds to hell for 4 years. I wish you get well soon. Oh yes, sleep and water to drink.
I was sick for like 15 days. I think it was a combination of that thing, and a cold. Also, I understand. I lived with my parents for a year, and very thankful for a job.
Johnny, there is something called a selk'bag that you can buy on Amazon. Vanlifers who sleep in vans with no heat swear by this You wear it. It comes with a hood and removable booties. It's very warm like a sleeping bag It keeps you toasty warm, indoors and outdoors. Feel better soon!
Make iglu house. When there is iglu house your hot edit: air from nose and mouth fills the space and its warm there. You need ice, river, lake, chainsaw, or knife long way or boxes and you need to fill boxes with water so it would freeze. Then you need to make house of ice. If you will do this you will edit: be very warm in it. Eskimos do it. And every ice country person should know and edit: do this... : ) it would solve coldness problem. Enjoy.
Do you have these water bottles to keep you warm? They are fab in cold places with a lack of electricity/heating. You just boil water, fill the bottles, and wrap them into a blanket so things stay warm for hours.
You really should reconsider filling up the bathtub with water. Because once the water supply stops you not only don’t have water for drinking and cooking but there will also be no flushing the WC. You should not waste your drinking water on flushing. And you don’t want to be not able to flush the toilet, trust me. 🙊
So sorry about Russia's attack on civilians. You are developing a stiff upper lip as us Brits call it. Find ways to cope and carry on. Hot water bottles are a godsend. My grandmother never had central heating as she thought it was bad for you. She went to bed every night with two hot water bottles which she placed in her bed before going to bed. She wore a hat in bed in the very cold weather. You have gas at the moment so you can make hot drinks. Know it is a shock in this modern age but you can find ways to keep comfortable. You are not alone so try and keep positive. Don't let the bastards grind you down.
Hey Johnny, I’ve been watching your channel for a while but I just recently subscribed yesterday I just want to say I’m very sorry that you’re having to live in these conditions and that this is all happening to your country. I hope that it stops very soon because this is not a way to live, and it’s very very very messed up, thanks for continuing to make videos through these tough times.
@@Joe-Bazuka There it is. He set himself up for this, and he did it completely unprepared. If the Russians are bombing the electric plants, do you think the central hot water plant is exempt from bombing? So far no warm coat, no emergency sleeping bag. No propane heater. No power battery storage unit. No real emergency lighting like a Mighty Light. His car battery has a bad cell, and this winter will be it's last. Even if he wants out, he might not be able to drive his car. The average 18-year-old camper is better prepared than Johnny.

I have great respect for you. To be sick when all is so cold. That is awful. But you suffer the same as the Ukrainians... that is a high level of solidarity.
When my X and I got divorced, he moved in with his Mommy. That was 9 yrs ago, he still hasn't moved out! (He turns 50 this year) So, to visit your parents to SEE them is one thing, but don't "move" home... I could make you some heavy fleece sweats, but by the time they get there it would be spring!?
Get a standalone gas heater stat. It's _well_ worth it if your house don't have a secodary fireplace. Also, if there's a power outage, you've still got heating. Just remember to always turn it off before going to sleep. If you leave it on while sleeping, it can be deadly, both if there's a leak and if there's a fire.
Hi Johnny, this is a bit random but I was watch Otter Aty's channel and his owner, Otterman, uses these powerbanks that he got for camping. They are quite high power and have a large capacity. They can be charged at home where power is available and they can perhaps run a 1kw heather. They are worth checking out. The charge at up to 2kw. They'd be ideal for when the power goes out, you can keep a small fan heater going when you need it.
Johnny I really do feel for you and everyone else there. This War is no joke I am worried for you all please be careful and safe. I don’t know how they justify theses attacks it is terrible and they SUCK! Stay warm and take care of your cold lots of love Davexxx Lots of hot toddies!!!
I keep a supply of camping gas canisters. I use them when camping and on road trips, but when I replenish them I make sure I still have a good supply in case of emergencies. I do the same with drinking water bottles and food. In my case it's more for earthquake preparedness. I also have a solar charger for electronics.
Are you filling up your water? Got big jugs? You have electricity and power, save up plz! You really should prepare more... dude! 5:40 and PLZ wear a mask when you're sick near people.
Also, if you had a power outage or something like that, or a fuel shortage, the heating system may have just temporary shut off if you’re familiar with that you may be able to go ahead and get it lit for the building
I hope you can get yourself some nice hot borscht! You've got balls of steel putting yourself through all of this and standing by all the Ukrainian people. Thank you for showing us all how horrible life is for most Ukrainians during the war with Putinia.
It's not "putin's war", it russian total war against Ukraine with the intention to kill all pro Ukrainian people and destroy Ukraine as an independent country. 90% of ruzzians support this war. That's why they're not protesting either in ruzzia or abroad. Absolute support of this genocidal war
I've just had three weeks of being sick with a cold and I made borscht, that stuff works a treat, must be all the vitamins in the veg and the goodness of the meat broth.
Unfortunately, there are many Ukrainian citizens suffering terribly, with no heat, no access to water, hot or cold, no medical care, with small children. So sorry, that you are not feeling well. I hope you get well soon. I feel very bad seeing Ukrainian women, children, elderly undergoing terrible hardship. I hope that Ukrainians are allowed to come to the USA, if they want to do that and get help.
People too reliant on "central heating" thanks to cheapo Russian gas, for now I'd highly recommend on lumping layers on and sealing off any heat leakage :\ The one thing you don't wanna do is starve and then your body produces even less heat... But also, why are people still living in lone apartments? I understand one wants privacy and all but when in time of war, pooling resources helps a tonne...
Buy an electric blanket.. and an electric bedwarmer... at least that way when you have electricity you can wrap up in an electric blankie... and in bed you have like a big blankie warmer for the bed!
Please leave, go to Thailand, anywhere. It will get worse,it will get colder, and it appears a major offensive may be on the horizon. Hope you feel better. Happy Holidays.
Johnny, the reason you fill the bathtub is so you could use that water to flush the toilet. When the water goes out you only get one flush. You don't want to waste your good bottled drinking water to make the toilet work. Baths and showers are a luxury, flushing toilets are a necessity.
From experience living in my cold draughty house..not below zero but can be down to 5 or 7c and with the range Lit I can keep one room up at 12-14c in winter, but you got to wear layers and above all keep your head warm. As citizen of Kyiv for all my life, I think your winter coat not really appropriate for our winters) I recommend to by parka (not sure how it named it in English) it covers even knees)
@Debbie Drake Tnx man) Always like to improve my English, especially in not common staff) But I heard that because of the more car lifestyle (in USA), a lot of people even in cold states used to wear like autumn coats (as Johnny use) or even less warm. I used to buy parkas for at least one season, because we like spend time outdoor even if it’s cold)
Buy an electric blanket that you can sleep on, they even make them with rechargable batteries so you don't need to keep it plugged in all the time. If you can afford if course. Also keep humidity low in your home, you won't feel low temp that much.
I feel for you Johhny and the people of Ukraine. Please get well and stay safe. We are expecting a severe wind and rain storm in the Northeast on Friday. The utility company is predicting 125,000 people without power, and freezing temps, in my state alone. We are all strong!.🙏🙏🙏
I hope your storm passes soon!
US & EU will help you until you die in super cold🙄🙄🙄
He is sick in a cold apartment but still not turning on the heater to save electricity for others 🖤
Thanks for the support Alica!
hi Johnny you know you can use your airco as heater? It's a heat pump you should be able to use it for warming up when you have electricity. Hope it helps
Air source heat pump, ASHP. Depending on the device specs and outside temperature it can give 4kW thermal energy from 1kW electric energy. He should definitely use it and not floor heating.
Feel better soon Johnny! Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
Buy an electric heater/radiator for back up
I have heat but here in Alaska, when it's been consistently at 10° below zero my house feels like I have no heat every night.
Gargle salt water right at the start of a sore throat....I have not had one 22 years since practicing it. For me, it 100% works
Stay strong and dont complain! Thousands are dead in war protecting ukrain and ukrainians cant give up!
Hope you are feeling better soon Johnny. Your local pharmacy might have something that will help your symptoms.
Mate. You put yourself through all this when you could escape easily. I'll give you that
great buy, former owners are glad they sold it
Try sleeping in the basement shelter, then having to cook outside on a makeshift wood oven.
You should get one of those extreme weather tents like people use for ice fishing. You could set it up in your guest room. 😂 They are sort of like igloos! My backpacking equipment would be so good for emergencies. I’m starting to become a survivalist! Hahaha
If he can't get that then he can use blankets to make a tent over his bed and that works real good
You would be surprised how much heat even a tea light can give a cold small room. Grab some candles.
Cheers!
unpasteurized honey when I get a throat infection - very good advice!
Honey, lemon and whiskey, with a dash of cayenne pepper. Lightly warmed....

Try gargling or drinking whiskey. The alcohol helps throat pain.
Cheers.
I’m not trying to be a dick but bro you knowingly moved to an active war zone. Idk about you but I’m not surprised. Good luck man.
Kyiv is not a active war zone, but it could potentially become one if Putin decides on a new offensive. The war zone can probably be called Kharkiv (it is fired from rocket artillery periodically), Kherson (fired from all types of guns), and a number of small towns in the south and east of Ukraine.
Johnny, what are you doing in Ukraine?
Get yourself a down sleeping bag and a fleeced blanket. In the old days before electric blankets we also boiled water poured it in a bottle and wrapped the bottle in a flannel to put at your feet.
Ionic zinc lozenges, like Cold Eeze, zinc pills, D3, and if you can boil water breathe in steam. I chaded all colds to hell for 4 years. I wish you get well soon. Oh yes, sleep and water to drink.
Same about 4 weeks ago. Now all my friends are sick.
Have you tried solar chargers for your electronics?
I hope you feel better soon Johnny take care of yourself
I suggest leaving Ukraine.
It's not going to get better and could get much worse !!
I was sick for like 15 days. I think it was a combination of that thing, and a cold. Also, I understand. I lived with my parents for a year, and very thankful for a job.
Please Be Safe. I hope you get better soon, Thanks
Unless you have a death wish, get out of there.
just go to Thailand for three months f
Johnny, there is something called a selk'bag that you can buy on Amazon. Vanlifers who sleep in vans with no heat swear by this You wear it. It comes with a hood and removable booties. It's very warm like a sleeping bag It keeps you toasty warm, indoors and outdoors.
Feel better soon!
Maybe you can find it in a sporting goods store there or something similar.
Enjoy.
Or you could use chainsaw and knife and somehow get from it big piece of ice. And from those pieces make ice house.
Get well soon, Johnny
Do you have these water bottles to keep you warm? They are fab in cold places with a lack of electricity/heating. You just boil water, fill the bottles, and wrap them into a blanket so things stay warm for hours.
You really should reconsider filling up the bathtub with water. Because once the water supply stops you not only don’t have water for drinking and cooking but there will also be no flushing the WC. You should not waste your drinking water on flushing. And you don’t want to be not able to flush the toilet, trust me. 🙊
Use your gas hob, to heat your rooms up, it is a fire after all
What the he’ll are you going on about ??you got underfloor heating 🤷♂️
As Zelenskyy meeting Biden in the US.
I can't help thinking things are going to get a whole lot worse?
I hope not.
Go buy an oil heater.
One medium size is enough to heat up one room, a big one can heat even a small apt.
Some people live like this through winter.

If your walls are stone. Turning on a heater and heating up the walls will radiate heat for hours. That’s why you weren’t cold for days without heat.

"When the internet goes, there goes your access to the world. Hang in there Johnny."
Dude, you need to get outta there. Come to Kazakhstan! We have heating here!

Despite what you say, circulating air is important, so open your windows for 5 minute intervals if you can, for a quick exchange of fresh air.
Thanks for the video Johnny. Makes me grateful for having electricity, water, heat, & internet!!
@@AlbaLynxQueen It is Putin's war. If Medvedev, Lavrov or any other person on this planet were in charge of Russia it would never have happened.

Johnny subbed you years back you should have bought a condo in Brazil and you would not have regretted it merry Christmas brother all the best
Get well soon! I think you better keep one room as warm room and close the doors.
Johnny, the reason you fill the bathtub is so you could use that water to flush the toilet. When the water goes out you only get one flush. You don't want to waste your good bottled drinking water to make the toilet work. Baths and showers are a luxury, flushing toilets are a necessity.
