  • I drive the new BMW 3 Series Touring (aka the wagon or estate) and I come out the other side really rather impressed. It is the perfect poster vehicle for why you should not get an SUV. Let's make the wagon great again!

    I bought the G21 BMW 320i Touring M sport, I just love it,it's a sports car, family car, luxury car and even an enthusiast car. Amazing feeling when you drive it and I've driven and owned a couple of Mercedes Bmw Porsche's Alfa's ....

    • @OneTireFire
      @OneTireFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, it is unbeatable if what you're after is an enthusiast-pleasing wagon that's also luxurious and comfortable when you want it to. Good choice going for the 320i over the diesel - I think it enhances the car's sporty character.

      I think you made the right choice going for the 330d and not the 320d. It's just so much quicker and even more refined, plus you don't pay a huge penalty in terms of fuel economy.

    I`ve a 730 and the 1st thing I did was sell the runflats. It`sa pity BMW insists on using Gracenote. A near 100k car and it messes up up your USB music files.

    Unbelievable good car, stylish, many features, superb engine and fun to drive but on the other hand, very expensive.
    But now, Mercedes is presenting their all new 2021 C Class and the first vids on TH-cam are absolutely awesome, it looks like a smaller S Class.
    Hopefully you get also the chance to test it out :)

    • @OneTireFire
      @OneTireFire  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll certainly do my best to get a new C-Class to test. I am very much looking forward to seeing what it's all about.
      And I do agree with you that the car I tested in this video was way too expensive at 70k+ euros, but you can ditch some of the nonessential options and drop it to below 60k, closer to 50k and it will still be a well equipped car. This was a press fleet vehicle which had a whole load of options.

    Especially for company cars the 330e is the new 320d. And, 100 HP more indeed. After 10 years driving Audi I can confirm that the G21 is by far the better car.

    my thoughts exactly on this new engine, i was test driving the same spec and it felt slow, particularly above 100kph

    • @OneTireFire
      @OneTireFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It feels more brisk without xDrive. That's what I think dulls it the most.

    • @jacekl10
      @jacekl10 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OneTireFire Also don't you think that it is quite loud, i was testing 2020 M-package 320d xDrive touring with additional acoustic glazing (comfort package) with run-flats 18" 790 M wheels. And i don't only mean noise from tyres but also from the engine when accelerating. I had impression that Audi A4 Avant 40tdi (2.0 tdi) is better isolated inside the cabin.

    • @jacekl10
      @jacekl10 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OneTireFire Also in terms of nosie how would you compare sedan vs. touring (with the exactly the same specs)?

    • @OneTireFire
      @OneTireFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jacekl10 I agree with you that there is quite a bit of tire noise (my tester was on even bigger rims, so that may have made things worse). The engine I found quite muted actually, especially compared to my 10 year-old 320d :D I didn't think the engine made any more noise than any comparable engine in any rival. The G20 is a big step up over the F30 in terms of refinement overall, I think.

    • @OneTireFire
      @OneTireFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jacekl10 In regards to noise, I think the sedan is more refined. There's just more room for the noise from the rear tires to reverberate around and get amplified in a wagon.

  • @Seoulite2
    @Seoulite2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good Video~ What about rear seat? Is it possible for family car?

    • @OneTireFire
      @OneTireFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, definitely. I easily fit behind myself (I'm 183 cm tall) with room to spare for my knees. Headroom is not a problem since this wagon's roof extends all the way over the cargo area. You could definitely fit two front-facing child seats in there too, so I think it's a great choice for a family that doesn't need a seven-seater. And it's a great way to avoid buying an SUV.

      @@rockybalboa3644 I have a 320d too, but I don't live in Germany so anything over 130 km/h is breaking the law here :P I still enjoy the torque it has for overtaking and just how understressed it is cruising at the legal limit on the autostrada.

    • @rockybalboa3644
      @rockybalboa3644 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OneTireFire i see, you like good cars. But please don't break any rules, it's not worth it. The torque, yes, that's huge with diesels. Although we don't have a speed limit here in Germany, I almost never drive over 200 km / h. My personal comfort limit is around 180 km / h. I think that's enough to get away quickly but safely.

    • @OneTireFire
      @OneTireFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rockybalboa3644 Of course, safety is always a prime concern. Germany is blessed with a very extensive and very good autobahn network, so you can drive quickly safely, while countries at the other end of Europe (i.e. my native Romania) still have a patchwork of unconnected bits of autostrada that vary greatly in quality. And even so, people don't really obey speed limits here (sadly).

    • @OneTireFire
      @OneTireFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dj Smile well, if you want to get it with all wheel drive, then yes, definitely go for the 3 liter. I would say the extra money you pay for the 330d over the 320d is definitely worth it. It also sounds much better and is smoother too.

    Used G21 320d x drive or new 318i? Similar equipment, same price..

    • @OneTireFire
      @OneTireFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely 320d x drive. The more powerful, the better, although I would honestly skip the xDrive, or at least not make it a priority to find a car with it. It adds weight, complexity, affects the efficiency and the handling. In fact, if you really want all-wheel drive, get something more powerful than the 320d.

    • @andreipopescu3719
      @andreipopescu3719 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OneTireFireas 318i is a 2l engine now and is the same engine as 320i, it can easily and safely be tuned for well above 200hp. It looks like the best value 3 series right now, this is why I put in debate this model.

    • @OneTireFire
      @OneTireFire  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andreipopescu3719 Sure you can tune it, but that voids the warranty, which is a big reason behind the decision to buy new. I haven't actually driven a 318i (although I would like to) but I'm sure it's powerful enough for most situations even without tuning. I still think a used 320d is a better choice; if you buy that used, you could tune it and the warranty thing won't matter as much :)
