Awesome stuff, as an ex GameBoy Color coder, it was great to see the many games that didn't make it to release. I myself worked on the GameBoy Color ports of Revolt and Equestriad 2001 which both got cancelled. Interestingly our port of Revolt, got reskinned, completed and released by Rocket Games / Datel as ATV Racing, an unlicensed cart.
I grew up in the GBC age (born 92, so I was ~6 when I and everyone got a GBC, for reference) and have been enamored with the tech and era since. I always wanted to know how it worked, and how to make my own games, and fortunately I did become a programmer around 2004 and eventually get my wish. I do wish there were more places to read on the dev experiences from this era, its always great to stumble upon someone from this time on youtube
Thank you! That's what I figured; people can find all this info online themselves, but far easier to watch a twenty minute video than to spend ten hours trawling the internet.

Good vid! I remember seeing Tyrannosaurus Tex when I was a kid; back in an old EMG mag that was pimping the dreamcast at the time. I had forgotten about it until now.
I loved that Game & Watch. I did re-buy it a few years back, but wish I'd kept my original. No idea what happened to it. Glad you think I summed it up well; it really was such a big deal to have interchangeable carts.
Clearly publishers weren't interested in paying for advanced or unique games for Game Boy. Unlike for other systems, where quite a number of games were kept from release for good reasons, here is a selection I would have loved to see. Stip in particular looks amazing for a GBC title.
Great vid Pete! Always interesting to hear of games that we never saw back in the day. Resi on GameBoy Colour would have been something I would have been interested in had it been released at the time. Nice one 👍🏼

Small correction I'd like to note on Tyrian 2000: The GBC version wasn't leaked, World Tree Games, a.k.a. the developers of the game, actually released it for free themselves from my understanding. Same dealio with the GBA version too.
Aeon-Metal Fighters, Titus Jr., Trail Blazers, Elite, Green Beret, Katakis 3D, Infinity, Stip, Wicked Surfing, The Mask: Zero to Hero & Carmageddon: Total Destruction Racing should be picked up by either JoshProd or Piko Interactive so they can be finished and released either physically or online for everybody!
Great video as always :) Is the Stip footage actual GBC footage? Very impressive graphics if so! Elite on the DMG would have been an amazing achievment, the 3D demo shown here looks cool!
I'm pretty sure the Mask: Zero to Hero was a Gameboy Color port of the Super Nintendo game. I was really looking forward to playing it, but the SNES version suffices for now. At least I have the Mask's Escape MGA Handheld to supplement it lol
