It runs about the same and it was stripped off from a lot of graphics and the draw in is horrible. SNES version would have been excellent if it wasn't for the HUGE frame drop.
V-Rally is also noteworthy for having a soundtrack composed by the incomparable Alberto Gonzalez! He composed a lot of chiptune songs for the NES and Gameboy era, including the Smurfs and Tintin games. I'm also fairly certain he composed the music for Turok on the GBC, too?
I actually love Bill Elliott's NASCAR Fast Tracks. I played it for the first time about a year ago when I found it at a thrift store. Takes a little while to get the hang of it's quirks, but it is a pretty fun sim with a lot of depth. It takes a lot of practice to figure out the best set-up and line to run at each track. Stuff like damage and tire wear will actually effect your car's performance too. This leads to real NASCAR scenarios, like do I pit under grean and get better tires, or do I slow down a bit to save what tire I have left, and hope for a caution? The game also implements a drafting mechanic too. I just wish you could save mid-race, it would be awesome to do a full Daytona 500 in that game! I usually play 100 mile events, those still take around 40 minutes, and my fingers just can't take more then that. It makes me sad we never got a proper NASCAR game for the GBA though, those Blue Roses people probably could have done something amazing if given the chance! I actually got NASCAR 2000 on the GBC years ago, and Bill Elliott's game from 9 years earlier and on inferior hardware is actually better!
V-Rally isn't just technically impressive, it's actually pretty fun too. One thing that struck me when revisiting it recently is that the different road types actually control differently, which is really cool to see on the Game Boy.
It's cool you're mentioning Days of Thunder because that's my favorite movie of all time. I've been watching it since I was a baby and no all the lines by heart. I'd absolutely love it if they made a new game with bygone era NASCAR cars. I'm a big fan of the NASCAR of old. (prehumous Dale Earnhardt) I like to buy and collect any old school diecasts I can find.
It's for gameboy color, but you should check out Lego Racers on GBC. It's a scanline racer with items to collect and use and whatnot. What makes it interesting is that you can actually still build a custom car like you could in the console versions, and it _does_ actually make the car different in-game to how you built it. It's only three slots to put bricks in, but still. You only have three bricks to start with, but winning each grand prix nets you 2 extra bricks to use (although the game doesn't tell you this...), for a total of 15 bricks to choose from and put on your kart. Rocket Racer doesn't give you _anything_ for some reason. You can also build your own character as well to go along with the vehicle, but only the hat/hair changes in-game. You can see the face on the licence at least, but you never see the body or legs outside of the character creation screen. You can save up to 10 racers.
Please make a video mentioning 1 of the 3 smurfs games for the gameboy. The third being especially impressive for the hardware, with parallax scrolling, nice music, great sprites, etc. Those games were sure a get for the system.
I'm good with homebrew games. In fact, I believe you should talk about more homebrew games. Homebrew games don't get enough attention, though most of them aren't good anyway, but you should not exclude them because they are technically on the same console, regardless of when it was made.
I like Ray-Thunder. Some sort of first person action dungeon crawler with wireframes. Wireframes are very sexy, too. Also Mysterium but not that impresive and Towers, but that's GBC. That demo is very impressive. Reminds me of Panorama Cotton at times.
The Days of Thunder game looks like it could be drawn by someone in real time. V Rally looked impressive, the other's not so much. (not counting the 2011 tech demo)
The Japanese: we'll make a gameboy for RPGs and platformers so we need 0.06 Mhz clock speed processor. Western developers: the Japanese made a new gaming device called Gameboy and it runs Pokemon so let's make GTA on it!.
Funny how that Gameboy stunt race fx seems to run smoother than the snes game.
downphoenix it looks like it's doing some really impressive scanline rendering, while the SNES game was true 3D.
It runs about the same and it was stripped off from a lot of graphics and the draw in is horrible.
SNES version would have been excellent if it wasn't for the HUGE frame drop.
I was about to comment that. Anyone who's played the original probably know what we're talking about :D
The first game is pretty fucking impressive. Goes to show what can be done after developers have unlocked the secrets of the available hardware.
YES you're back!!!! Please more of these "graphically impressive games". I love this series so so so much. You have no idea.

Yup, seems like he did the music for all GBC versions of Turok, i.e. Turok: Rage Wars, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion.
Those Turok game boy games are so underrated.
Minimme? I haven't heard that name in years.

Its 2021 and I still play my cart of Jeep Jamboree. Its actually as old as me as it was released in the same month and year as I was born.

V rally looks amezing.
How they got stunts race fx running on a gameboy is beyond me.
V-Rally isn't just technically impressive, it's actually pretty fun too. One thing that struck me when revisiting it recently is that the different road types actually control differently, which is really cool to see on the Game Boy.

V-Rally with colors = STILL AN IMPRESSIVE GAME ON A GAMEBOY ADVANCE :)
You can also find Jeep Jamboree Off Road Adventure in a 2 games in 1 cartridge called Race Days, and the game has been renamed 4 Wheel Drive.
any chance of covering the gba tony hawk games soonish? also, you should do a video on fmvs on the game boy line of consoles.
Yep already started working on Tony Hawk's GBA
Jeep Jamboree is also in Race Days, a 2 game cart, along with dirty racing.
I was never a big racing game fan, but i bought V-rally for the rotating car selection renders alone.
Elmar Krieger has been making incredible games on low-spec hardware like the Game Boy and Amstrad CPC since the early 90s!
Our savior has returned?!?!?!?!?! 🤘
V-Rally Championship is widely considered the greatest Gameboy game of all time.
The cars in the first game you showed are pretty well detailed. It would be awesome to see a 3DS remake of it.
Cound you do some for the NES or Genesis?
Velez & Dubail made a 3D game run in full 30 fps on a GameBoy?! That's what I was looking for. Absolute madlads!!!
They also made Driv3r on the game boy advance, then cop the recruit on ds
Race Drivin' on the Gameboy is actually rendered with a true 3D engine.
Graphically impressive chicken

Very impressive.....
Days of Thunder looks straight up awesome.
Please make a video mentioning 1 of the 3 smurfs games for the gameboy. The third being especially impressive for the hardware, with parallax scrolling, nice music, great sprites, etc. Those games were sure a get for the system.
Whoooah look at those grafix
That Days of Thunder game looks like you're playing the Take On Me music video.
the only racing games worth a damn on the Game Boy are V-Rally, Road Rash and Roadster.
V-Rally is WAAAAYYY too good looking and smooth playing to be an OG Game Boy game. I refuse to believe it
more like 5 graphically impressive racing games
the people who made this game is legend
(the one who made those 3d gba and v rally at gb)
and iam sure they now are trying to port the gta 5 to nes
Someone should license that Stunt Race FX homebrew engine and develop it into a full game.
Noice. I'd love to see you do more psp or even ps vita! Thanks for the hard work you do.
yeah I want to return to the PSP soon :)
Needed it.

The video where you were reviewing only cars games before it was cool
Have you tried the game called Wings?
I like Ray-Thunder. Some sort of first person action dungeon crawler with wireframes. Wireframes are very sexy, too. Also Mysterium but not that impresive and Towers, but that's GBC.
That demo is very impressive. Reminds me of Panorama Cotton at times.
Man, I Want My Minimme!

V-rally my favourite
The Days of Thunder game looks like it could be drawn by someone in real time. V Rally looked impressive, the other's not so much.
(not counting the 2011 tech demo)

I had days of thunder
5 graphically impressive gameboy "racing" games
The Japanese: we'll make a gameboy for RPGs and platformers so we need 0.06 Mhz clock speed processor.
