Very good job 👍 had the same issue on my E46. No more leaks now.
Good job, look forward to the engine bay cleaning vid. Need to clean a post oil leak mess on my 1.8t.
Half moon seal is what fails on 1.8t the rocker cover gasket does not fail often at all
Also boost leak central under inlet manifold
Even more common is the cam adjuster gasket, also, at the rear of the head and no fun to replace. It gets easier the more you do them but it's still not fun.
I picked up a litre spray of engine degreaser from poundland last year worked a treat
Afternoon
Did you check the half moon gasket under the chain tensioner , they are always going and you need to remove the camshafts and the tensioner itself to get to it , if oil is still leaking from the top of the engine, air filter side then it’s knackered, good video
There was so much mess it was really difficult to see anything. I will degrease all of the engine, clean it up and go from there.
good channel, good video , please keep making them its nice to have british content :)
I had the same issue with my passat 1.9 tdi mate best degresser I found was elbow grease. Let it soak for about 10 min then jet Wash it off and it's like new👍
Love your channel mate ,just done my gasket on mk4 mk4 golf gti 1.8t.
Been wanting a TT for a little while. Getting cheap now but for a reason... all the ones I’ve seen in London are to far gone uneconomical to repair just on the parts bill. Good luck with it 👍🏻
I think that any car with this sort of age will need work doing to it. You can pay good money and get one decent condition, there are a few available in the Facebook groups. Its fun if you are a DIY'er because you get to see the true workings of your car, you will fear nothing after a few months.
Nice video, had to degrease my engine and engine bay the other week (Audi A3 8l project) used Car Plan Trade Valet Traffic Film Remover from Halfords, £20 for 5L
Great product and rinsed off with a Jet washer.
Came up like new, would recommend it to anyone.
Cheers Dave
NO NONSENSE DEGREASER... Works good
I was right rocker cover lol good vid mate really enjoyed it 👊
yes mate, you was
cant wait for more tt content
There's a video on sweet project cars where the guy uses tyre foam cleaner to clean engine
singh s ...... yes it works a treat tyre foam sweeeeeeeet
Waowwww he's back after years
Chemical Guys orange degreaser is fantastic
Super Video love what you made
I am from Germany and love Cars and work on it
The Channel from Sarah N Tuned is also great she has an TT to and work on it
Sorry for my bad English and greetings from Germany
Need high pressure steam on it. Much safer than chemicals and easier in my opinion
Great video mate. Keep em coming more often!
I am trying
to wash the engine bay, use cold Coca-Cola, and spray it on the motor, on a heated motor, but not too hot. this will produce a thermal, chemical cleaning reaction. instead of Coca-Cola you can also use Fanta. please make a video about it.
Thanks for this. Great work.
Thank you
Do you have a Patreon account? I'd like to ask you for some advice and maybe contribute to your work (which I've been using since you took the front bumper off that old TT!)
Kitchen oven degreaser. Tape all electrical connectors to avoid water ingress. Get the engine to temperature. Liberally coat surfaces with the degreaser (lidl /mr muscle etc) with the engine still running. then jet wash the degreaser off. Tadaah!!!! Lol
Hi mate just subscribed, I have literally just finished off doing a 225 . . . Top end rebuilt, clutch, brakes etc etc and the only thing left is the LCD display I’m more thank looking forward to your Vid on that, I think I’m gonna have to send it away though, ANY THOUGHTS CHEERS
Justin Putbrace you can buy replacements on wish.com , dirt cheap too from China
Thanks for all your videos
i currently have a second generation audi tt and hope to get a 3rd generation with the 5 cylinder
Great video
Great video..It will be my next job on my TT, .. just one question would it be wise to change the half moon seal at the same time?... thanks 👍
If you have worries and are concerned about it, yes.
Great show. Pete. 🇬🇧
this is the first generation audi tt i had one of these and worked on it a lot. my new friend:) hope we can be friends
very good work, well done to you.
All that oil below the intake manifold is most likely from a faulty PCV system, replace the hoses/ connections and install a new valve. Malfunctioning PCV valve can allow pressurized air from your intake manifold into your crankcase and cause oil leaks at every seal. Damaged hoses causes oil and vacuum leaks
There's a possibility that this is why the valve cover leaked. Especially if you only smell oil while turbo is providing boost.
I appreciate that information, I will make sure to look out for that. I was considering installing an oil catch can to be honest, I like the idea of collecting the oil.
Great content on the Audi tttttttttttt. Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Thanks!! Keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!

I want to bay a car like this but the seller tell me that he has the car en the garage siting for over a year and the oil leak complipliic dried out what can it be
Sump plug failing. fill it up with oil and check for leaks. There should be evidence of oil leaking somewhere
Ask SavageGarage about cleaning car parts. I swear that man has some sort of OCD. Every single vid his talking about cleaning and degreasing.
All purpose cleaner should shift it
If it was rocker would only leak when the cars runing .
Brake cleaner
