I think deep inside Morrissey is a very sweet man. He just has great difficulty expressing or showcasing that externally. Another reason could be that he's shy or afraid to express his sensitive personality externally. So he comes off or puts himself on as cold or irritable, possibly as a defense mechanism. which is not how he is from the inside. Example, Morrissey externally really puts up the sense that he really dislikes Marr these days, or doesn't miss him one bit. I think internally, he does. He loves Marr. It is evident through some of his lyrics. But he puts on the mask that he hates him or doesn't wish him well. Accompany that behavior with his miserability/depression, and his shyness, his external outlook can sometimes seem as cold, patronizing, or irritable even(more so in later years), as a result. It's a shame he can't seem to show it externally or to the outside world, how he sweet he is from the inside. He only manages to do that through his lyrics. But it's limited clips like this, that show us Morrissey is not how he sometimes appears to be externally.
Honestly considering he's so beautiful & appealing in his own way yet from what we know it sounds like he stayed single more often than not, he had to've had (has) some personality disorders that are very difficult for other people to deal with, unless he actually is the one who leaves. Surely he's always had a lineup of other gorgeous men/women who would jump at the chance.
No surprise really, but STILL a pleasant surprise to be able to see this lovely guy laughing like this...you've only to read his autobiography and to hear his lyrics to know what a brilliant and humorous bloke he is....anyone who's not read his book i can only urge you to do so immediately...his dry wit and observations on life growing up in Manchester and growing up in the music industry are the epic-centre of genius and intelligent humour....i fell in love with his music 30 years ago but i only fell in love with the man when i read his book...wish i'd got to know him sooner, his view on life and enriched mine immensely
