When the Dreamcast first came out I was 18yo living in Hawaii (where everything is far more expensive) and all the shops in Honolulu and in the malls wanted $600 for it and I just couldn’t afford it. Maybe a year and a half or so later I was back on the mainland visiting family and walked into an electronic store and they were all on clearance for $50 per console and $5 each for the games. I bought a console and a copy of every Dreamcast game they had in stock. I still believe the graphics looked much better on the Dreamcast than even the PS2 graphics looked.
I love these arcade-centric picks, some of these I’ve never heard of or seen before! Also I was under the impression that Napple Tale was an RPG! Great Stuff as always!
I loved Rival School on PS1 and was so mad that the sequel was only on Dreamcast. The only time I got to play it was at the arcade a few times. I found out recently that they made a Rival Schools 2 that only came out in Japan. It had two new characters that were also in Project Justice.
Definitely need to keep my eye out for Starlancer. The closest thing I have to Starlancer on the Dreamcast is Bang! Gunship Elite. Rent a Hero looks like it kinda plays like State of Emergency just without the large crowds and chaos.
Lime my friend, you don't understand. I've been gaming a very long time, and I personally have a modded Dreamcast with a GDEMU drive. Has the entire library, plus Naomi/Atomiswave games as well. If you buy a good HDMI adapter, and I recommend either Kaico. Or BitFunx, which is the one the seller sent with my system from E Bay. Any modern tv, or gaming monitor has super resolution, and smoothing options. Also, the best HDMI adapter is from Beharbros. Which can switch between VGA, and RGB modes with a flick of a switch. But in general most Dreamcast games look amazing on a 4K tv, especially one designed to enhance older games. Just keep in mind that the adapters from Kaico, and BitFunx. Convert the VGA signal to HDMI, so non-VGA compatible games like Hydro Thunder, or Bangai-O will not function on those adapters. But it will with the one from Beharbros, just go on their website. It does cost more, but as the old saying goes. You get what you pay for
Bang gunship elite is also a good space flight sim its more arcadey with all the power-ups also Silver is a incredible game as well especially the music expendables is a great shoot em up.
Hell yeah Project Justice was my favorite fighter for the Dreamcast. I really think it was just as good as the soul Calibur and marvel versus Capcom game for it
I always love to see that you've posted a new video b/c I know I'll learn about some great hidden gems! Btw, what emulator do you use for Dreamcast? The graphics really pop!
The Dreamcast version of Starlancer is honestly way more polished and even looks better than the PC one(played them both at the time). They tweaked a lot of the visuals too on the DC one and it's a fabulous port of the game. I believe that was one of the few titles that actually used the WindowsCE platform on the DC. Cheers
Rival Schools isn't forgotten. CAPCOM doesn't want to do it because they want an unreasonable amount of Money like what fighterz got or games like elder ring.
If there's one thing I can say about Heavy Metal Geomatrix is its soundtrack from various artists like Motorhead, Megadeth, Entombed and Dust to Dust among a few others the game itself is jank but I bought the soundtrack album regardless.
The last great console generation overall too, all 4 systems had a great library. Every subsequent generation has had at least one console that was just okay, or bad. Last gen everything was mediocre, now only Nintendo is good.
I am easily one of the best Geomatrix players on the planet. I loved that game. Old guy with the big sword is by far the best character. Guns run out of ammo, swords don't.
I think one of the reasons why Heavy Metal Geomatrix fared poorly was that it played very similarly to Spawn: in the demons hand - another DC arcade port that wasn't exactly well received but played better than Geomatrix and had the advantage of a much more recognisable IP. Rent-a-hero no.1 was also only released in Japan in very small numbers as it was also near the end of the consoles lifecycle there too. The need to have a good grasp of japanese to be able to play it also probably turned off importers so it wasn't until the cancelled english version got leaked in 2008 before ppl even knew the game existed and could play it. Fighting Vipers 2 was an interesting one as it was originally a model 3 arcade game, like Virtua Fighter 3 so when it got its dreamcast port, it was already quite an old game as it was released closer to the end of the DC lifecycle and other 3D fighters had already pushed things ahead, like Dead or Alive 2.
Man we need a DC mini or something. I reallx think about somehow turning a Raspberry pi to a DC, but not sure about the quality and controller support.

Every time I see comparisons between Dreamcast, and PS2 games. All I see is superior performance on the Dreamcast, almost every single time. And this is coming from someone who's been gaming/collecting for more than 33 years. Personally, as time goes on, I think that Sony should have lost both of those console wars. And that's pretty bad considering how much time I've spent on the PS1, 2, 3, and 4. Sega never should have been put out of business, and Sony has been buying their way to the top for far to long. Or should I say bribing, as the way the Sega Saturn was dismissed is questionable at best as well.
The Sega Saturn was a bitch to develop for which was why most developers didn't bother with the Saturn and lacked a solid catalog worth buying for. Dreamcast failed due to lack of heavy hitting 3rd party games and just bad timing on release when you had to go against the giant that was the PS2
