    Hi, thanks for the video and all your other contributions... they have helped me tremendously.
    I moved into a house and can't locate the installer code anywhere. I want to do factory reset but was cautioned that the previous installer could have locked the code and that a factory reset could reset the entire system except for the installer code which would then leave my system dead.
    is the installer code usually recorded on the alarm panel or the keypad? My system is PSC5010 from DSC and I have 3 keypads. Also if a reset does work, will I have to re-enroll all three keypads?

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Shadi. Usually the installer code is kept secret by the installer.
      The default one is 5555.
      Most client don't have their installer code.
      Now if you are not familiar with installing an alarm system, reset it will be a lot tricky.
      Not impossible, but really tricky.
      You will have to reprogram every zone, delay, central, keypad... Everything.
      I will eventually do a video about how to program it.
      But until then, only the installer menu can help you. ;)

    Hi. I have a PC1864 type alarm panel and a PK5000 keypad. Can I replace the keypad with the dsc neo HS2LCD series?

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can't use a NEO keypad on a non NEO pannel.
      You should be able to find some power series pannel but I have heard that they stoped producing it.

    Does this work with the rfk-5501 series without having to program anything (the RFK series adds wireless sensors)?

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm 99% sure that you will be fine without having to reprogram everything. The programing of the wireless module will go into the panel. The RFK series are just keypad with antenna.

    • @JSAVGA
      @JSAVGA 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HowToPM I can confirm that it does not work with the RFK5501. I had to reprogram in the wireless sensor and all their associated programming. The RFK keypads add 64 zones of wireless connectivity and it's all handled through the keypad. Oh well, was a fun night of figuring it all out again after several years.

    I have to replace the back panel because of damage to door and where door attached. Since I have to disconnect the keypad to do this will I have to go through the keypad protocol as if I'm replacing, or can I just disconnect wires careful as you showed and then reconnect? Thank you👍🏽

      There will be no configuration to do. Just be carefull to not short any wire and put them back in place. 😉

      You probably have the model with the numbers LED. You should be able to read it with this.
      Other wise, it's not the end of the world if you don't use the contact on it and/or other keypad in the house.

    I have an old DSC PC1565 (PC5508Z LED) which does not have an LCD screen and has only 8 hard-wired zones. Whilst the control panel works fine the plastic cover is broken so want to replace it with something like the DSC PowerSeries NEO HS2LCDRFP9ENG. Would that be compatible?

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The NEO series is a brand new series. Nothing of its componen would be compatible with yours. You need to replace the whole thing except the hardwire contact on each zone.

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Mark! Absolutely not. This info is stored in the main board. The only thing you have to reprogram is the keypad adress if you have a zone connected into your keypad.

    I have a DSC LCD5501Z keypad that I'm replacing with another of the same model. I can follow the first minute of your video to get the old keypad's address but I cannot see it on the display. That's because the old keypad's LCD display is broken already (it fades in & out). Can I do the following?
    a) Re-enroll the old keypad as Partition / Slot Assignment = 11
    b) Replace the old keypad with the new keypad
    c) Enroll the new keypad as Partition / Slot Assignment = 11

    • @HowToPM

      If you don't have a door on it it does not matter at all.
      You option A is not good because it would destroy that programming.
      If you have only one keypad, don't worry about it.
      Try to replace it, and if it does not work, try one by one switching the slot assigment.

      @@HowToPM Thank you for your advice. I swapped in a slightly different model (DSC LCD5500Z) and did not do any additional programming. I did a test with the ADT monitoring center and everything checks out fine. My only complaint is the yellow Trouble light is on with a "Gen Sys Supv" message. I read that a [902] supervisory reset is what's needed to address this problem. Is that true? However, I do not have the installer's code and the default 5555 is not being accepted. I'm reluctant to do a factory reset because that would erase all the zone settings, ADT monitoring center phone number, ADT account number, etc., correct? Is there a downside to leaving things this way and having the Trouble light lit up all the time?

    I added a 4th keypad to my DSC PC1832 system. It is enrolled properly and shows up in the DLS5 program as OK. It displays system time and the AC power LED is lit but the problem is the keypad always displays a keypad programming icon on the left side of the display and I can't program anything with it. The rest of the system is working fine. If I disconnect this keypad I get a supervision fault for it. Any ideas? Thanks.

      If DLS5 see it is weird. Because it look like if one of the yellow or green cable would be cut. That is really weird. At this point I would try to reboot the system.

    Thanks for the informative video. I am replacing my keypad from a PK5501 to a PK5500. However when i go to section 000 and 0, the first number is 1. When I press the right arrow key it doesnt move position and still shows 1. It seems theres no keypad location number displayed. When I check my other keypad at another entrance it shows the same on the other keypad. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!.

      When you press the right arrow it display the keypad address. It meant that the addresse is 1.
      It mean that both of your keypad are on the same address. It's not the end of the world if you don't have a zone connected into it, but you could change the adress of one of the two keypad. Just press on 2 when you are on the keypad address.

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I will do a video eventually on this but... Well it's very simple. You just need to plug the new keypad everywhere. You can add 8 of them without programing problem. Only if you want a keyboard zone, you will have to make sure they have not the same partition.
      *8
      installer code
      000
      0
      First digit is the keyboard number
      second is the partition number
      (or de reverse if i'm wrong).

      Hi Phillip. Well a keypad does'nt need to be program to be fonctional. If you just replace it it will work. However if you have a zone connected to that keypad, you will have to hope that he will take the same keypad adress as the previous one.

The alarm itself is working but due to not being able to see the display, (and buttons having been pushed) it is now bypassing three of the zones. Any suggestions?
