The sound of my childhood. I don't know if I ever knew the name of this tune or that it was the great George Benson.
Benson told the sweetest story of how he got his first electric guitar: His stepdad took him to a pawn shop to buy one, but it was too expensive. His stepdad looked it over and said he could probably make one for him. He had Benson draw a picture of what it should look like, then he bought some parts and built him a guitar out of a chest of drawers. I love that story so much! (I think he told it during an interview with Tavis Smiley.)

I remember going to see George at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in 1978. Our car blew a radiator hose and we were stranded about 30 minutes from the venue. Guess who rolled on by in his LIMO, George, he slowed down and asked if we needed them to call someone. I'll never forget what an impression that made on a 18 year old kid. We made it after letting it cool down and filled it with water. We were only about 30 minutes late and gi=ot to see George on stage later that day.
