I understand why they removed these scenes. The writers were going for an irredeemable pure evil Shen. These scenes woulda made him look too sympathetic for their liking
Really even the part where he says he doesn't enjoy taking a life if it is from a person who doesn't care about it.
They should've kept the Soothsayer "all is well" "well?!" "WELL??" moment. That was just too good, and didn't make him sympathetic.
@@jadecoolness101 Yh that was hilarious😂
Eh I don't mind it
Yes and he bows down to him for some reason in the 4th film 💀

While the recent film loses its shine rapidly with each day, KFP2 is getting good as wine
I watched it about 2 times a month or 2 ago, and it still hold as one of my nostalgic movies. My favorite scene was when Po discovers the truth of his past, I teared up when seeing his mom giving her life for Po
'Getting'? It's already the best in the trilogy (OT I should say now.), can't make perfection any better, lol.
I wish the recent one had shine to begin with 😢
"Battle's over, you don't have to keep acting all evil"
*Spreads his tail with no words and the face filled with hatred
This is as badass as it is sad actually. This moment underlines Shen's fanaticism and hopelessness of his situation. All his life he lived in fear of the prophecy, and the realization that he was about to lose to his fate completely blinded him and clouded his mind.

They should make Shen project all his insecurities and fears of his parents disappointment when fighting Po. Because him and Po has a lot of similarities but the difference is the love from parents. First Shen make it sound like Po's parents also hate hime but in the end Po realizes that Shen was talking about his own. Then tge viewers would be "Oooohhhh awww, poor peacock". Then after Shen got slammed with his cannon, the viewers would definitely feel sympathy for Shen's tragic backstory.
When watching the film back then, I did feel that Shen was projecting. :(

3:27 This Shen deleted scene is so heartbreaking. I can cry about this one, it’s too emotional!!! *Cries in a very sad way due it is too emotional.* *Stopped Crying and Said* This is what he said “How Worthless You Have To Be For Your Own Flesh and Blood. not to love you, even a little.” And now here’s the original scene “Your Parents Didn’t Love You.” *Continued to Cry in a very emotional way*
3:30 I honestly wish they left this one in. Shen sounds like he’s on the verge of tears.
Agreed
I like that they make it too sad and justified with shens backstory since he did commit genocide and shit but the delivery on that line is too good. And I love how for kids (and me), even with that line added, you think he’s just lying and insulting Po but that’s just his truth. Such a good movie
Lord Shen is Representation of "What happen if we make a Villain with evil mind but with *WEEB* hearts"
3:43 thank you for finally confirming that. I searched everywhere for this clip
That's ahat he thought, but they still loved him even after what he has done.
Thank you very much for the video, Lord Shen is a great character and the best villain in Kung Fu Panda. I would have liked these scenes to have appeared but, with what we had in the movie, Lord Shen is still an awesome character.
Always a pleasure to make content people like🦚
I would give shen a hug. He’d probably murder me right after, but it would be worth it.

@@Cock6339Not if he was still an innocent chick before all this.
3:31 I think the reason why they deleted this scene was because it was to evil and scary for children.
I believe it was because it made Shen look mistreated, while they wanted him to be almost pure evil so they removed it.
@@Gloom_Shroom_GamingI don't got anything against pure evil villains in media, but there are some villains like Shen that make you believe there is still more to his background story than meets the eye, without excusing their actions though.
4:52 and 4:58
I wish they included this scene .
@@vasilyrussiazov So do I
This just random shit I that pulled out of my ass but I think that scene is Shen trying take advantage of Po's PTSD, he has the same pose back in his palace before he escaped only for Po not to give that much of a shit anymore.
I feel like this scene takes place after Po pushes Shen during their final fight, but it was replaced by the scene where Shen almost cuts Po's cheek with one of his knives

WTF
6:15 SHASHABOUY!!!
Wait, was in the novel the information about Shen being a sick albino, neglected by his parents? I mean, I doubt that it is an early concept of backstory from early draft, how many claim. There's still the article from Screenrant from 2011 (published a month before the movie's release) with link to official DreamWorks cite, where Shen was described as a sick and rejected albino, so the Soothsayer was his nanny who loved him no matter what, while the wolves were his only friends. My question - why these important scenes with important information were cut from the film?
Because this concept was changed. In the film, Shen is just a crazy genocidal man who believes his parents hated him, when they really didn't. In addition to the fact that the film makes it very clear that he He always had distorted thoughts and a desire for conquest, such as the fact that he decided to create gunpowder weapons soon after gunpowder was discovered.
@@alexandrealcantara1506 The use of a weapon is what determines if its being good or bad :)
@@alexandrealcantara1506Nah, that's not enough development for him in my book. I don't condone his actions, but the original background story makes more sense and dives deeper into his childhood that gives a real answer to why he truly believed his parents never loved him and that nobody is born a genocidal maniac. Doesn't excuse his actions, but it would make him a lot more understanding, even if he couldn't be saved in the end.
@@Disneyfan82 But the idea of the film version is not to give depth to what made him evil but to show how crazy and sick he is. He's not supposed to be a tragic villain but an absolute and irredeemable monster. Not every villain needs a tragic reason to be evil. Examples of villains that work well without a tragic motive are Jack Horner, Fairy godmother from Shrek 2, Mrs. Tweedy, Grimmel among others.
@@alexandrealcantara1506 Oh please, Jack Horner and all those other villains are more pure evil and irredeemable than Shen had ever been. I don't care what anyone says. I would rather have a Shen spin off series based on his background than the others that don't deserve it.
I take no pleasure in taking a life if it's from a person who doesn't care about it.
Damn and the pause was perfect too.
Like first you think oh Shen does not like taking a life but than he says he does not like it if the person does not care if they die.
Awesome, great captions to go along with it too!
A good friend helped me with them 🐟
They didn't make him sympathetic because they knew he'd be too powerful in the fandom ❤
I'm still wandering why Gary Oldman and JK Simmons didn't return their role in Kung fu Panda 4 for both Kai and Lord Shen.
Prob cause the movie sucked
They probably didn’t want to pay them like the furious five
Because the people in charge did not care about making a good movie, their only goal was to leech off of a beloved animated series.
Best bird
My poor Sheni! Give him more scenes!😭
3:30 the transition to swinging back and shooting Po would have probably been too swift.
I was expecting smth savage for the scrapped idea of the canon scene and it was, so much more savage, but then I noticed Shen's expression. He is projecting so much and that adds a whole new layer to the movie that I never thought about
I don't understand why these important scenes were cut. He is not an absolute evil, this is shown in the film itself, so why deprive the audience of the opportunity to empathize with him or at least understand the meaning of his actions? Without these scenes and a clear backstory, Shen's motivation is very blurred.
His motivation was a ‘bit difficult to comprehend, yeah, however I completely am on board with ‘em cutting out these particular scenes. They wanted us to antagonize ‘n spite Shen, instead of even slightly *sympathize* him. They didn't intent to achieve any level of relatability with a mass murderer responsible of one species' near extinction, just from his personal issues with his own parents. I certainly wouldn't wanna take pity on him.
@@_vigilante6551 I can agree that imposing empathy on a mass murderer is a bad idea, but the character must have a clear motivation. Shen doesn't have it. He started the panda genocide himself, and then wonders why his parents banished him. It's very blurry. In the original scenario, Shen's parents did not accept their son because of his illness and weakness, and he sought to prove the opposite. It would be a good conflict and the fate theme would be appropriate here, but in the cartoon it is simply overlooked.
@@letsbedead no
If course, that would have made better sense of his character and why he really believed his parents never loved him, regardless of what choices he made, good or bad. If not, then the least they could have done was give us a spin off series on Shen's past.
@@gaminginvirinch3339 Yes it is.
I seen somewhere where po tried to save shen from drowning in the end but they removed it
I would have loved to see that.
@Disneyfan82 Me too 😭
Wow, I’m surprised I’ve never seen these until now, really cool insight on how they decided to go for less subtlety and more direct, hard hitting lines
I love how invested he is in the soothsayer’s opinion, starts leaning in, almost like a boy when asking for a parent’s opinion. It’s so endearing tbh
As a fan of kfp since a kid, this is absolutely incredible, it's so cool to see how they deleted scenes just to make the character's personality about right, I didn't understand this character fully but now seeing these scenes is as if I'm seeing a side of Shen that he just never wanted to share, it made me understand his character 100 times better
3:30 ngl its sad but the look on his face is also giving me the creeps But ig then it wouldn’t make mich sense for Po to feel hurt if they didn’t use the og scene Or maybe it’s just me
Back when dreamworks writers COOKED
Omg I love the soothsayer scene. Any scene with her trolling Shen is golden.
When Shen talks about his own flesh and blood not loving you. It's like you just need to give this Peacock a hug.
The mirror scene makes it look like he’s doing voice lines on the character select screen lol

0:58 Shen's sigh is just so.. 🌌ICONIC🌌
The way he spread his feathers in threatening and determined display at 4:57 , gave me chills

Why do they have to make him adorable 😭
Lord Shen deserves his own spin off series to tell us the story of his childhood to adulthood.
@@Disneyfan82 yep
@@niquisshadelasada162 If other famous villains could have them, why not Shen? Despite what the movie says, his story needs to be told about everything else that happened to him.
@@Disneyfan82 they forget that sometimes even evil also had humanity still left for them... Like Shen, he's tragic, and what I noticed is quite surprising, why doesn't he even plan on to kill The Soothsayer even tho for him she's annoying..?
@@niquisshadelasada162 Again I don't condone his actions, but Shen also reminds me of other Batman and Marvel villains that didn't start out evil and genocidal, but there must have been a time when they were as innocent and feeling like everyone else, driven down the dark path by drastic consequences. Sad it seems we can only get fan fiction off Shen's past. Only time will tell if he ever gets his own spin off series someday.
I rlly want Shen to admit his mistakes, become good, and reconcile with Po so badddd 😢 *just my opinion*
Shen's scenes before greeting Po had as many changes as his rehearsals
Thank you, may God bless you all and everyone. ❤
Honestly while the Kung fu Panda TRILOGY mostly has top tier phasing i feel like the second film was a little to ambitious with lord Shen for its screen time. With Kai but more so Tai lung it worked extra well with his relatively few scenes. As it let the movie keep his hyper intimidating aura until the end while building the emotional depths through outside means so the two sides of him could then blend during the final battle in a far more climatic way then if we had seen Tai lung as venerable or funny through out. But with Shen his "royal immaturity" side boosts his character and makes him endlessly entertaining even outside of his dramatic moments and cool ass fight scenes. Shen is in my eyes the only villain in the movies who could easily carry his own show. He can be immensely intimating and scary, pitiful and tragic and immature and hilarious all at ones and it never feels like its too much. For the simple reason that it all makes sense given his backstory and upbringing. As much as i like kai and LOVE Tai lung they are not made too be main characters. They are great movie villains but would not work as well in a TV-show, Shen on the other hand would be fantastic in that role. There is just so much with his character that you can flesh out!
Lord Shen ❤🔥 nets a solo Movie.
In Kfp 4. He was underrated :(
While i understand why these were deleted. I think the Soothsayee & Shen relation remain too subtle in the movie. Lot of people thought " why don't he kill her", she was like his Uncle Iroh. A little more chemistry between the two would've solved this issue. Even tho it was already hinted in the final product. Now that i think about it, does the parental disdain is due to his albinism ? Does albinism causes any other damage outside of the skin ? Still confused why he was so unbothered by the genocide he caused, maybe he was always mentally unstable, perhaps due to his albinism(???)
He needed her to be alive so that he could check on whether or not his future had changed.

The thing is that for now there are more deleted scenes of Lord Shen have been found but it would be good to show more about the deleted material of other characters :D
I could try to, won't be easy, but also I'm more of a Shen fan haha. Tho there are some interesting facts about Tai Lung 🦚
4:29 what a horrible, horrible thing to say… one of the best villains ever!
I'm glad they removed them. I prefer Lord Shen to be a heartless, dark character who can't be redeem or sympathize. I don't want to feel bad for him, I want to hate him for the crimes he did.
Even if he did get redeemed in the end, he would've still had to face consequences for his crimes and taken to prison. I got nothing against dark characters with no redeeming qualities, but there are still some like Shen that deserve to have their story told that the movie had no time for, since it was all focused on Po
I too, love hateable, irredeemable villains. They're so fun to watch, and even more fun to write.
Sorry but purely evil villains are just the most stupidest idea ever imo. :/
@@kingkaijuboygodjira3116 Not every single villain needs to be pure evil for enjoyment. Some can be sympathetic in a way, but still be viewed as villains

All hail Lord Shen!
with shen's parents i think both shen and his parents are at fault. from the info we have shen was born weak/sickly, perhaps shen's parents assumed that shen wouldn't make it to adulthood and would die as a young child due to how sickly he was and so didn't spend much attention or time on him, maybe because they were already in sorrow and didn't want to make parting with shen even more saddening as if they got closer with shen the parents would miss him more when he died. shen maybe viewed this as his parents hating him however, and when he actually did grow and beat his sickness he held resentment for his parents.

wow la escena de la pelea final nunca la había visto, las otras si pero no completas
They should make a Lord Shen standalone movie! ✨
This is everything lol
Shen parent palace remind me about spongebob master karatet episode.
Honestly, I feel they could have made the 'your parents didn't love you' deleted scene work with slight tweaks- maybe make him look less unsure but have him unfocus his eyes so it's clear he isn't talking to Po, but to himself. He wouldn't allow himself to think any other way because if he did, he'd have to go back to face it with a level of actual emotional vulnerability, and this Kick Chicken is WAY too far gone for that.
Also keeping the backstory of him being a weak baby that was taken out of line for succession could have worked as well. Giving your villains understandable motivations that are down to earth and having them do such monstrous things as a result of such common pain is what makes them compelling!
And I never truly understood what po meant by “you gotta let go of that stuff in the past bc it just doesn’t matter” I thought he was talking about what Shen did to po’s family but now I look at this and now I understand it now.
It's quite odd I remember seeing like 90% of scenes you showed in theatre in the movie. And I never watched a deleted scenes video
I didn't even know that. Impressive
