    If I was in PR for that Wagyu brand, I would be giving Guga a call and offering to send him a box or two that was not as badly handled as the one he got. Something tells me that one was picked up by someone and was in thier cart for ever. Then it got put back in the freezer section. Something had to happen for that to go that bad.

    • @crimsonking2874
      @crimsonking2874 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +69

      Yeah, I agree. The Wagyu burgers looked like they were left in room temp and refrozen. Maybe a proper box of them would help do some justice. Although Guga and his group are too spoiled for the fresh burgers to really accept them anyway.

    • @jcwoods2311
      @jcwoods2311 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +68

      Not saying they started out great, will take your word for it, but the pack Guga took home had definitely been defrosted and refrozen. The color, freezer burn, ice crystals and having to pry them apart and pick the wax paper off all indicate being refrozen. Pig customers take them from the freezer and decide they don't want them in the potato chip aisle, throw them on the shelf all of the time. Employees find them and put the merch back in the freezer, hopefully before they've thawed.

      None of the patties are in cryocac bags. They are all susceptible to freeze burn. The longer they sit in the freezer, the worse they get.
      Just being Wagyu does not make it special. Wagyu being pricey, when they make ground beef, they would make it out of the most undesirable remnants. The winner was ground from whole muscle Angus chuck.

      Honestly this would make a lot of sense, since there are a multitude of frozen burger types people have access to. I am a fan of having at least a small reserve of frozen burgers because sometimes it's 3am and I want a burger, and everything is closed. If most of these frozen burgers are like a D or an F, but one or two of them are like a B-, sometimes that is good enough. I would like to know which ones those are. I been actually buying the same ones they used in this video that were in the middle tier, the walmart ones. If there are bettter that I have access to though I would get those instead.

    As someone who eats frozen burgers on the regular as they are super easy to acquire and prepare I can confirm that Bubba burgers pretty much taste the best out of the ones that I've tried (and I've tried A LOT) and that pretty much every burger that's labeled as "wagyu" is a scam where they are overpriced and at best taste just like a regular burger. Honestly, the best bang-for-your-buck burgers that I've found which Guga scoffed at were the regular Walmart-brand 80/20 burgers. I find that they cook up quite nicely and easily AND are very affordable for a pack of 12 burgers.

      Brooklyn Burger is sourced in New Jersey, sat in NYC for a few months, was put on a truck to Miami that made multiple stops, and thawed. It refroze on the shelf.
      Bubba Burger is based in Houston, TX, and knows about and cares about beef products and is considered by most to be the best frozen burger by far.

If supermarkets and grocers generally were smart they could do different prices and pay based on levels of freshness but these days they just ship whatever crap that's been sitting about for a month, barely safe to eat I would argue.

The best way I've found to split them is to run it under the faucet for a few seconds, which should melt some of the ice without completely defrosting it. Also, do not use a knife like that, as you risk cutting yourself and breaking the knife.

Also, I buy frozen burgers a lot and I don't cook them from frozen, they are sure to dry out, and char before they sear. I just keep four or so in the fridge before I put the rest in the freezer, or thaw them on the counter. They cook up pretty much like fresh. my favorite burger so far was one I made with packaged 80/20 ground beef that looked more like red spaghetti. It was something I have to pack tightly or else it would fall apart BUT when it cooked it was marvelous. It would flare up, seer, and had a delicious flavor and crust. The meat was so juicy and smelled smoky despite being pan fried and only having salt and pepper and a tiny bit of soy sauce. By far better quality than any pre-made burgers i’ve ever had.

    • @wilkesreid
      @wilkesreid 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's what I use every time. You can get juicier if you do 70/30, but not everywhere sells it, and I find the 80/20 to be a good compromise healthwise. I also try my best not to pack it together too tightly cause it ends up being more tender to me if I can leave it as loose as possible. I just roll it up into a ball and smash it down for smash burgers.

    The best frozen burger is one you make yourself and it can still be a time saver.
    I have a great method I use for freezing patty's in bulk, you use clean film~
    First roll out a square a bit bigger than the patty size you want, drop a ball of meat into the middle and cover over again with film. Cut the edge and then use a cutting board to press it flat, fold in the edges of the clean film and BAM!! you have a nice little freezable package that you can stack and they never stick or get freezer burn easily (because the meat is pressed so close to the plastic).

    don't know if they are the same burgers or not, but I love the Member's Mark Sirloin burgers from Sam's Club. They cook up great on the grill and I love to eat one right off the grill. No condiments. No resting. Just a toasted bun. Juices running down my face. I'm doing the forward gangsta lean trying to keep the juices off of my shirt. Absolutely delicious!!!

    im an old burger guy from way back, and in my old age ive been using the sams club and the bubba burgers for the last few years, problem is for this entire years of 2023 they have been pure crap, the dogs in my neighborhood, and the opossum, have had quite a few meals. for some reason they just don't taste the same as they used to, in fact i just took the last 2 pattys out of the freezer and gave them to my country friend to feed to his critters. i guess ill have to go back to making my own again, at 81 its getting a little harder to prepare meals and clean up the kitchen but so far i'm keeping up. thanks for the videos, oh and ive never tried the wagyu. and now the complaint, its 10:30 at night and you made me hungry enough to finish off the spaghetti i made last night, thanks a lot.

    Can you do an experiment to cook every cut like brisket. Eg for NY strip you would cook the entire beef loin. For picanha you would cook the entire top sirloin cap.

    There's a sandwich shop that i always get a Cajun panini for lunch and these construction workers would always get burgers there but theyd be coming out the freezer not freshly made. SO i asked those good even though they are frozen she said these dudes always got em so must be so i tried and i was very impressed that i added it to my rotation when i go there for food.

    An idea based off this would be to find the best frozen ribs or even take the burgers one step further and try to find the best store brand frozen burgers
