Thank you for the thorough video. Happy to report that I was able to find the hole by using a flashlight as recommended here. Wife is very pleased to be riding her bike again!
LOL, anyone with an eye for statistics and pondering market share might notice in the "how many people have watched this part" when you mouse over the video, Shimano replacement is at least 5x that of SRAM replacement. Of course it might just mean the Shimano cables need replaced far more often (which might be a thing?!)
Not a conclusion you can draw. Imagine the population of Shimano is bigger than SRAM... Then it still doesn't tell you anything. You have to look at proportions and be aware of your sub-population (what if SRAM people don't watch TH-cam...) you get the gist.
SRAM = 💩💩💩.... i spent big money$$$ for the SRAM... 3 months later normal riding the rear derailler broke!!!, i got the runaround from warranty, HQ said , dealerr, dealer said HQ, they both said blame the seller.....i got tired, ...typical marketing HYPE!! i fell for it....back to shimano i went!!!❤ SHIMANO =1 , SRAM = 💩💩💩 from a dog
Thank you for your video. I replaced rear shifter and brake cable this morning, saved my time sending my bike to shop and of course save money.

Great video thanks. This guy's a great presenter, speaks so clearly 👍
This video was incredibly helpful to fix my bike, after the cable snapped in the shifter! Thanks so much ParkTool!
Thank you Park Tool! I had a broken cable inside the lever, it was a bit tricky to take out. All good now, cheers!
Excellent video. Includes replacing many different grifter designs.
Excellent video. Impressed that all varieties of Shimano drop bar levers are covered.
thank you. i wasnt sure if i could replace the cables without removing the band. now I know.
Thank you best advice I found!
Nice mustash. Full and thick. Nice video too. Cheers
Very good videos, and very helpfull !!! Thank you so much !!!
Is there a trick to pushing it through the housing?? Keeps getting stuck on the 1st housing
Thanks!
Weirdly my SRAM Apex shifter seems to be different to the one in this video, is there more than one layout for the component?
same, apex but different, did you figure out how to do it?
I didn’t took it to the shop in the end @@vzlomzhopi7465
Please make a video showing the replacement of outer housing with drop bars. The orher video only covers mtb shifters
Good idea.
very good video. Very helpfull. :-)
My cable seems to be welded and stuck to wheel. Can’t remove it. Have you seen this before?

I think we were (mostly) all trying to replace our shift cables rather than fight over SRAM or Shimano 😂
