How to make Swedish Princess cake - (Prinsesstårta) | Daniella's Home Cooking

Mini Swedish princess cakes | English recipe:
(Makes: 4 mini cakes)
Ingredients:
Cake:
3 eggs
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 dl (120 g) flour
1 tsp (5 g) baking powder
1 tbsp (15 ml) milk
Filling:
Raspberry jam
Vanilla custard (Recipe on my previous video)
Vanilla cream:
1/2 cup Vanilla custard (watch my video for "Vanilla custard")
1/2 cup (120 ml) whipped cream
300 g marzipan
Powdered sugar/confectioner sugar for dusting
Directions:
Cake:
1. Preheat the oven to 465 degrees Fahrenheit (240 Celsius)
2. Whisk together eggs and sugar until it's fluffy and pale in color.
3. In a separate bowl, mix together the dry ingredients; flour and baking powder, and add them to the egg mixture.
4. Fold everything carefully (don't beat out the air) using a spatula.
5. Pour the batter in a greased and lined baking sheet and spread it out evenly.
6. Bake the cake in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, keep an eye on it.
7. Take it out of the oven, and let cool completely for about one hour.
Building the cake:
8. Once the cake has cooled, cut out 12 circles (3 for each cake)
9. Spread about 1 tbsp of raspberry jam on the first layer, top with another layer and add the vanilla custard. Thirdly, cover the entire cake with the vanilla cream, and place them in the fridge for about 30 minutes, until they set on the outside.
10. Cut out the marzipan, (it should be bigger than the cake) and cover the cake with it.
11. Smooth it out to prevent any wrinkles, and cut it out with a cookie cutter or a knife.
12. Decorate as desired, I like to place a rose and 2 blades on top.
13. Dust with a little bit of powdered sugar.
14. I like to place it in the fridge for a couple of hours and serve them chilled.
15. Enjoy!

The marzipan that I'm using is store bought and should be available in most supermarkets.

Yes, why not. Sounds like a good idea. And if you try it that way, you could also replace the vanilla custard in the vanilla cream with lemon curd!

Yes, I think it would work great to use any other flavor as long as the cream is thick enough to not spill out from the side of the cakes.

How come marzipan in videos look smooth and seemed like they can be stretched? My marzipan is so fragile and breaks easily.
It could depend on the temperature that you keep it in. It shouldn't be too warm or too cold. I think the best is to store it in room temperature. Also dont overwork it too much as it can lose its shine.

Can I use orange jam instead of raspberry jam?
Yes, if that's what you prefer! But this is more of a traditional version of this swedish cake.

Mine never turned pale. It was yellow the whole time because of the eggs.
As you are saying, depending on the color of the egg yolk the sponge cake could get a more yellow color. But it shouldn’t affect the flavor of the cake.
In the bio, you said in the ingredient list 1 tablespoon of milk, but in the video you did not add the milk, so do we add the milk or not?
Yes you should add the milk, somehow it didn't show in the video.

Thank you, well I like the combination of the cream and custard in one layer that's why I like to make it this way. But the traditional is with one layer cream and one layer of custard, yes.
