I love how the second phase becomes much more aggressive like how Daniel's sanity becomes more and more demented until everything goes to absolute hell. Its like he's hearing voices in his head screaming out along with him.
I said this on the Halloween Musical Bytes, but this song feels right out of an official broadway musical. A dark requiem of madness that leaves you utterly disheartened by the slow descent into sheer insanity. Gorgeous.
I could imagine this song as the opening to an Amnesia Musical since the ending of the song is the beginning of the game. Throughout the rest of the musical we get musical flashbacks about Daniel's past, one song for each note category (like the three Algeria notes in 1 song), then before the final confrontation with Alexander we hear a reprise of this song where Daniel is questioning if this really was Alexander's fault or if he should take responsibility for his own actions.
I've lost count of how many times I've played the Amnesia games, the custom stories, the full conversions. This is such a SPECTACULAR Halloween delight dedicated to a horror series that holds a special place to me. I don't just play Amnesia, I've lived it!
Moon is such a good actor and with his vocals gosh his emotion feels so real. I love the 2nd part of the song where it gets more intense and it's like Daniel is losing his sanity it's a great touch. The artwork is amazing I love the lighting and highlights of red beautiful.
I never played any of the games, but am very familiar with darker musicals, and when the first note hit and Moon's first vocal, my soul trembled- shuddering. I don't know about you, but I am having trips of anxious fears and so many emotions just reeling and shuddering my soul into a million pieces pouring out for Daniel here. Moon, you're a beautiful soul. Brilliant work as always MotI!
This seemed like a left field song choice at first. But with a new Amnesia game coming out recently it makes perfect sense and has inspired me to revisit the games. A chilling and well done piece, easily my favorite in the package
I think it's quite an interesting choice that you chose to go with such a hopeless tone with the lyrics in this - seeing as Daniel's ending has always felt triumphant and cathartic to me. The final part being total darkness referencing the Alexander Ending where you get devoured by The Shadow is also a nice touch!
I don't know anything about amnesia but I love how he remembers his name at the end of the dark part. It's as if he's pulling himself back from the brink! Love it.
Yeah, the light is misleading and burning. The dark is the perfect blend of peaceful and chaotic, and it's beautiful. It's where the misguidings known as Sanity fall away and we get the chance to embrace ourselves for who we really are! (I swear I'm not in a cult, I just hate bright lights and tend to get along better with the mentally unstable)
I said it in the full package and I will say it again. I didn't knew about this song until I saw it on the premier. And GOSH! The vocals are so soft and yet powerful. I was really impressed by this song and I continued going to the full package video to play this over and over. Now I can loop it and send it to my playlist. Thanks MOTI for this amazing job and Moon for the outstanding vocals!
This is amazing. I feel bad that I didn't get to hear it in full justice during the premiere because I was too busy stuffing myself into a hoopskirt for my Halloween costume, but now that I am listening to it again, I am just in awe. Great work Man on the Internet.

Everything here is bloody amazing, I can't stop listening to it. I have to give note to the visuals, they're so perfect in how simple and certain they are with the mood, the loneliness in the darkness as it slowly envelopes your thoughts, you think you see something or hear something but nothing has changed. You remind yourself of your sanity but you've lost the ability to focus on your thoughts as they're filled with paranoia and fear and anxiety and nothing is not certain. The hallucinogen sights that were one so faded and the whispering sounds that were passively ignored have grown so loud that you can't remember how they got so booming, nor when they started, nor when you realized that they're out of control, nor if you know if they're out of control. The chaos consumes your head until finally, after forever and never, your mind breaks. The ending makes it feel like a loop, that Daniel somehow reminds himself of the only thing he's known -his name- as a kind of coping mechanism to bring his sanity back. Not completely, as the cycle of madness restarts every time, but enough to get him sane enough to continue again

I wanted to bring attention to the fact that this song isn’t with the others on the Halloween bytes album on iTunes, is this a glitch or is there some copyright thing is place for that song? @@Farantir1 ah yes, through the portal, editing right away. You see, I only kept up with amnesia's history through videos online, and of course the demo reels. Did you know in the penumbra demo reel there were going to be enemies such as flying bats and more tight corridors, and even a change to sanity where fake enemies (even fake bats) would appear? This later got scrapped for everyones favorite: Zombie dog and worm combo.

So spoiler warning: just the other day i learned the person Daniel planned to kill..was actually himself, he amnesiaced himself because, he regretted all of his experiments, so he tried to forget them, we aren't daniel, se are actually the foul tainted baron himself
no. we played as Daniel. however, he did used the amnesia elixir. the reason for that is below because it's some huge spoiler from the game. so, he did used that elixir to forget all the torture and experimentation that he and Alexander inflict on innocents to produce Vitae, that the Baron used to created warding seal. warding seal that is a protection agaist the Shadow, supernatural force that seem to be after Daniel, and probably the Baron too. the Baron and Daniel are two different character.

Chrono Trigger the musical should have prepared me for how smooth and dramatic Moon's voice can be while singing, but it didn't. This is incredible.

If I'm not mistaken this song isn't part of the game's official OST, so they can't include it for legal reasons.
