I love how the Scythes of the Emperor, descended from the very Greco-Roman Ultramarines seem to but a bit more emphasis on the Greco than the Roman in their artwork and iconography.
The chapters are Retributors, Scythes of the Emperor, Mortifactors, Angels Vermillion, Sons of Medusa (3rd/6th/9th company) then Sons of Medusa (2nd/5th/8th company)! Community post says it's not from the show but of the characters origins, so with the terminator at the end it's certainly Deathwatch!
GW obviously wanted a first founding chapter represent (helps to shift minis), and since the Blood Angels took up that slot, the Lamenters got subbed out.
This teaser felt like I was handed a glass of rare vintage wine, smoked irish aged cheddar, a plump green grape and some proscuitto. Divine, breath-taking, full of flavor, but no more until the full platter comes out of the kitchen. I cannot wait to see more of this.

This is not just for the space marines.. Syama did an amazing job showing even the xenos.. frok thr orks to the Tyranids to the Tau stealth suits... It's just gorgeous.
yeah he really has a real great mind for envisioning how all of these different creatures and technology would feel and look when he got it the way he wanted. The big thing he has done for the 40k community as a whole is manage to translate the feeling of "Impact" and "Weight" are brought to life in a medium where it's very difficult to translate those two concepts into feelings the player or viewer will actually get from your visual and auditory stimulus. plz don't ruin this franchise Amazon ._____.

Dude I couldnt agree more. They already looked cool cus Black and Yellow is a universally visually appealing color combo because it contrasts the darkness of almost pure black with what is probably the "brightest" color so to speak; yellow. A personal fav of mine. I would prefer if the inside of their capes was yellow tho like how Batgirl's is in her yellow/black outfit ( see the batsuit with the armored abs in Arkham Knight, has a yellow interior with the cape ) would've provided just a touch more color contrast; and really made it pop even more, but they already got it to a 9 out of 10 pops for me xD
@DekkarJr i think coloring the inside of the cape would work better if the entire body was black with orange accents instead of being more or less a solid xlmod
GW could do a lot worse than throw an envelope stuffed full of cash to Mark Louis Spark for a Horus Heresy series. He absolutely nailed the HH aesthetics with Death of Hope.
@ I’m so sad that he didn’t continue the series just over people being haters, that was true grim dark in all it’s gritty, disturbing ways but also there was light too, in the trailers I remember seeing the Ultramarine catiphractii terminators striding forwards to stop the traitors from getting to the civilian population and that to this day has got to be one of the most powerful scenes I’ve ever seen, probably because I know a lot of the lore etc but still an epic moment.

I have a theory about the mortifactor that was clubbed by the orks and why he replaced the lamenter in the old trailer because the lamenters and mortifactors at some point did fight orks together and its more than likely that it is the same campaign

You can see a few reskins from of the initial teaser. They were first shown as Storm Giants, Lamenters, another home brew chapter. Also teased were Revilers and Flesh Tearers. The Uruk hai marines are likely Mortefactors

4:24 I think the reason they're Firstborn instead of Primaris is that based on some of the Heresy-era armour patterns, I think this might be set before the Cursed Founding. I say that specifically because the shot of the one guy punching an Ork was originally supposed to feature a Lamenter.
Fulgrim is just a peacocking diettante. These guy perfectly balance their drip with functionality and absolutely classical aethetics. Their color scheme reminds me of classical Greek pottery art, or even Minoan Crete.

That's an interesting observation, Valrak. According to "The Great Work", all the Firstborns Scythes of the Emperor willingly died on Sotha to eliminate the genestealer taint to their chapter. I'd be VERY interested in where these Firstborn Scythes come from.
I was waiting for this. In case you didn't see it, the other upload by Digital Bones is supposed to be a montage demonstrating his work. But in it he has scenes not shown in the Astartes II trailers. Grey Knight Terminators and a Great Unclean One.
Astartes is what got me into the warhammer 40k universe. So happy for the dude and games workshop for realizing what they have and going for it. The game was a success, the Amazon short was a success, hopefully the live action will be but in the meantime this is the next best thing
Hard to say anything conclusively about the identity of the Chaos Space Marines, but the logo on the shoulder pauldron of the left most CSM at 1:21 is a match for the Sons of Vengeance chapter. Not much is known about them lore-wise, save that they participated in quelling anti-Imperium uprisings in Segmentum Obscurus in M34 before falling to Chaos.

That looks incredible- I love the inclusion of the Storm Eagle descending into the city (I didn’t pause on it to see, it could have been a Fire Raptor) and not a horrible looking Storm Raven flying brick. The details of the characters and gear, the “camera angle” on a lot of the scenes, the action is violent and brutal, very fast, very Post-Human. So well executed! Can’t wait- thanks for the coverage, Valrak!

My guess for the chapter with the crude painted skull on the shoulders, ,might be the Mortifactors which are Ultramarine successors if you go on the wiki and look and the paint scheme for them it kinda matches up with what we see in the trailer, and their homeworld was also lost to the tyranids too, little side note.
A Deathwatch team consisting of Retributors, Scythes of the Emperor, Angels Vermillion, Sons of Medusa and Mortifactors goes so freaking hard. I can't get over it.
I came straight here for Val's reaction for my first trailer because I needed someone else in the room who's reaction mirrored my own! The trailer alone has made the wait worth it!
Keep in mind, in regards to the Retributors lore, before anyone is promoted to the rank of Sergeant or Squad leader, the Astartes in question will have to serve a couple tours in Deathwatch to learn how to operate with many different backgrounds and chapters.

Hard to say anything conclusively about the identity of the Chaos Space Marines, but the logo on the shoulder pauldron of the left most CSM at 1:21 is a match for the Sons of Vengeance chapter. Not much is known about them lore-wise, save that they participated in quelling anti-Imperium uprisings in Segmentum Obscurus in M34 before falling to Chaos.

That looks incredible- I love the inclusion of the Storm Eagle descending into the city (I didn’t pause on it to see, it could have been a Fire Raptor) and not a horrible looking Storm Raven flying brick. The details of the characters and gear, the “camera angle” on a lot of the scenes, the action is violent and brutal, very fast, very Post-Human. So well executed! Can’t wait- thanks for the coverage, Valrak!

My guess for the chapter with the crude painted skull on the shoulders, ,might be the Mortifactors which are Ultramarine successors if you go on the wiki and look and the paint scheme for them it kinda matches up with what we see in the trailer, and their homeworld was also lost to the tyranids too, little side note.
The original artist does us such a service with his work. He’s the only one who accurately depicts space marines in action.

The emperor forgets is Tau symbol on the wall and a human Tau world and he's carrying the Tau dead body.

Keep in mind, in regards to the Retributors lore, before anyone is promoted to the rank of Sergeant or Squad leader, the Astartes in question will have to serve a couple tours in Deathwatch to learn how to operate with many different backgrounds and chapters.
