Fair play thats a super easy setup, i have the 300 game setup on there at the moment but this will be great to add a few games i want to play nice one.
I have some kind top 300 pack on my MiSTer for dos and coincidentally I downloaded the whole exodos setup (700gb) yesterday. I'll be checking this out too
@StarshipMythic Hope so but even if we aren’t going to get XBOX/PS2/GC class hardware 500-750 USD might attract new users who aren’t already invested in MiSTer… and then it would at least be there for the hardcore MiSTer guys who just gotta have Hydro Thunder. ;) GeForce 3/Radeon 9700 are still monster GPUs for an FPGA to do even without a CPU but perhaps something with enough I/Os to interface with a real PowerPC or x86 CPU could save a ton of LEs.
@StarshipMythic Agreed but if we insist on GameCube’s G4-class PPC + R3xx then we’re in the same ballpark as XBOX’s P6+NV20 (P6 i686 = Pentium Pro, II, III, M). This is why I feel a MiSTer follow-up might have to draw the line around Dreamcast (Naomi/Atomiswave), Pentium MMX+Voodoo² SLi, iMac G3 + Rage 128, etc. While that may not be a tiny bump in terms of what console hardware it could replicate that class of CPU/GPU would still greatly broaden our content library. It would bring original/superior arcade or PC versions for many games with many more we couldn’t play at all. It may not enough for most to upgrade but it’s enough to excite me and bring in new FPGA users.

Brilliant! This is the collection for me. I didn't expect there to be a 486 core on the MiSTer (for whatever reason), so this core was a great surprise. This brilliant little machine only offers more & more as many talented people continue to put effort into the cores & the system software. I also heard something about a cheaper alternative to the DE10-Nano that may cut the cost down for new builders? I will have just missed the boat on that, but I hope it's true.
Well, I finally got this and other computer cores working on the mister. I formatted a fresh sd card and put roms and BOOM, they all work now. Even arcade cores that didn't work now work.
Damn, Prince 1 & 2, GODS, Raptor - Call of the Shadows and even Fifa 96. I guess this is the first time in my life I'm considering getting a MiSTer. Such a shame the Analogue Pocket isn't strong enough to run the AO486 core.
cool collection :) i could try that...i made my own collection around 200 games so far with dosbox, xpadder and custom exe files that runs both, also every game separate
The AO486 core is basically an overclocked i386. It runs a lot of stuff, but it basically can't handle beyond Wing Commander 3. I did extensive testing on Wing Commander 3/4/Privateer 2 with it. We need the FPU to be implemented, I'd be curious to see what a subset of the FPU would do. e.g Square Root.
I don’t have any of the computer cores on mine. I do have fond memories of tons of DOS games though. One of these days I’ll get it running along with the midi stuff.
just a FYI to all Mac users. when it asks if you want to replace items say merge not replace otherwise you will delete all your games in your folder. Hard learned lesson today for me. I had waited to do the dos games last and deleted all my previous console games installed..
Am I right in assuming that the advantage of this over exodos is that all games are configured to run as good as possible on MiSTer? Hope to see the selection of games get bigger in the future.

Hey thanks. The script was released after this video. It's up to you if you wanna use the script. I believe it pulls down the whole set, so it's whether you want the whole collection or just a few games.

it's a shame how many people have separately done so much work to get exodos games running on mister that they have on their own setup. there really needs to be some easy community way to autodump and upload config files for games so we can as a group get more compatibility for random titles. because very few people are going to spend half an hour trying to hack a title to work that they never even heard of

The sequel is on MS-DOS and 3DO. 3DO might be the best way to play (officially released) but until we get a 3DO core I'll take a go at it on this core. Had to look up the name but Star Control II was ported open source as a fan game called "The Ur-Quan Masters" (for legal reasons) for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It's suppose to be top notch, in some best games lists.
I'm really excited to see if we'll ever get DOS gaming on the Analogue Pocket. We're stuck playing the GBA and SNES versions of DOOM, and that's just a travesty. 😵💫
Doesn't seem to work for me. Followed the instructions but anytime I try to launch it just flashes a bunch of black and white static like it's failing to display the image. Happens with every game I test including Alone in the Dark.
Thank you so much for this video. I LOVE my MiSTer, but I'm not the best tinkerer. I got very excited about this (I'm itching to re-live my youth), so I tried. But the games won't run, because I originally had it set up for the old "300 games pack" (which had also stopped working for me after an update lol). I have everything else set up meticulously & perfect for other cores. Is there an easy way to "start over" with just the DOS stuff? I see the DOS menu appear and games show up. I can see its looking in the wrong place, for the old 300 thing. :)
From what I understand, having an existing set on your SD card, is presenting issues for many. It might be worth asking for help on the MiSTer FPGA discord.

Would there be a reason for a blank black screen for any DOS game selected? Running latest mister update, followed the simple tutorial provided, using MiSTer Direct Video to Component Adapter as output with duel ram. I'm sure it's a simple setting or an output not supported, but I haven't found the solution as of yet.
wish joystick/gamepad worked as magically for me as it did for you. i cannot get anything from this collection/setup to work with my 8bitdo pad with analog sticks.
Can anyone test out earth worm jim 2 I tried to run it with an 8bitdo sn30 controller but I can't get it to register the controller letters in the game menu (not the mister menu it works fine on the mister menu but not the games menu). I played that top down racing game pixel told us about and it works no problem with the 8bitdo sn30.

No, you can just extract them all to the same directory. Check out the documentation section on the site. Requires you to know the options in whatever tool you use to unpack, though
Look for the Shapeshifter collection? It was a spin-off that used AmigaVision to emulate the Macintosh (but since the Mac has no custom chips and runs the same CPU family as the Amiga, I think emulation is underselling it - it’s using the 68020 CPU directly). This allows you to run Mac games up to SimCity 2000 and Marathon.
I installed the _dos folder in the de card since it’s so small, games in the hdd games folder but I couldn’t figure out where to install the cfg file at.
You totally dont need to add them individually. 🤦🏻♂️ Just extract them all in the same folder in one go and select yes to all when asked to replace duplicate files.
I might be missing something on ScummVM since I’ve barely ever used it. But isn’t it just some kind of multi-platform software emulator? Much like MAME? Since MiSTer is a system based on hardware emulation, it won’t really run something like ScummVM until any of the other ScummVM compatible systems run it with enough power. You’d basically be hardware emulating software emulation. Like running the GBA versions of the NES games. Doesn’t make much sense😅

I keep using inverted commas because it runs entirely on the Linux side, I don't think it uses the FPGA at all but there is a very serious argument to be made for using it on MiSTer to get analog AV output. Plus there's a sort of ideological cleanliness to having it with your other (real) cores and all in the same set up for those who have limited space or want to play all their retro games in the same space etc [unrequested pedantry: strictly speaking ScummVM is actually a script interpreter rather than a per se emulator, but I appreciate in reality there's not much difference]
What a great idea. Saves faffing around choosing graphic and sound cards and using DOS for people who never grew up using DOS PCs.

A clone DE10 NANO is in the works. Hopefully it'll be available soon.

I remember if you had a math 2087 coprocessor along side a 80286, it was a dramatic difference.

This process really makes it easy for us folk.
Once you have the files, it’s literally a 10 second copy operation. Whether you have time to actually play the games is a different matter 😉
Infpgrames was merged with Atari which later split up so it's now one of the Atari companies. Atari SA I believe

Yep, there's a Pi hat called MT32-pi. Does exactly that, emulates the mt32 using a pi zero connected to the MiSTer... about £30
I have a VHD with flynnbit’s top 300 (I have fixed some, and added about 100 more), but this config seems much better. Do these work ok with MT32?

The way things are going, it'll likely happen.
Unfortunately, that will never happen. It would never fit. It barely fits on the MiSTer, which has an FPGA with ~2× the amount of LEs :)

This really sounds cool, but every time I try to load a game, I get an error saying "Fatal: No Bootable Device"

Only thing I'm stuck on is choosing midi as the setup is bypassed and the win f12 settings do nothing...can it be done ?
I don't have a midi set up, so haven't tried it myself. It's probably worth asking Amiga Vision directly over on X/Twitter.

QoL packs like this take hard work dedication. You could likely see dedicated packs/frontends for numerous systems, if people want to put in the work.

@@AdrianDX It’s an interpreter. SCUMM games are basically scripted with assets so you can port a native interpreter for the MiSTer HPS (Linux).
