VERY nicely done video - there's a lack of no-nonsense discussions of this bike in our community and this was refreshing. Clear, concise and very nicely shot.

Hi, thanks for your comment on the video and for your interest in my channel. I watched you video riding through the Wildcat Forest. That looked like a lot of fun and I didn't know there was an Ontario in Wisconsin. Thanks again and be safe 👍🇨🇦.

    Thank you for showing.
Are there any aftermarket/3rd party filters?

Thanks for your comment and for your interest in my channel. Slingmods do sell filters but I found them to no cheaper than the OEM part.

Great solution. We have since gone to 21 RTLTD which has the automatic level system. So far so good but I am sure it will need work eventually. Thanks for your interest in the channel. 👍

Spyder quid pro quo... you take care of the Spyder and it'll take you where you want to go 😁
And it certainly looks like you take very good care of your Spyder, nice job !!

Nice informative video. I'm Interested in the F3. Seems to be lots of pulley and belt problems, looking at other videos. They should have used a chain. Maybe 19th century but simple, reliable and cheap.

I don't have any real numbers on that pulley issue but I don't think that is as much of problem as we are lead to believe. The service manager at the dealer I go to for my service has been working on Spyders since they came out in 2008 and he claims he has only done 4 replacements, mine being the 4th. I don't believe it is an issue in the new models. I have always wondered why they didn't make them with shaft drive like the BMW's. Thanks for your comment and your interest in the channel. Cheers!. 👍🇨🇦

@@BikeBoatandTravel Thanks for your reply. I am attracted to the the Can Am Spyder as it combines the frontal looks of a 50's racing car, and the view and feel of an open cockpit aeroplane. OK - my current experience is watching videos. At traffic lights you don't have to put your feet down. Nice and easy. Its performance seems equal to most Ferraris. I ride motorcycles and fly planes so I guess you understand my interest. Cheers.

Perhaps you have noticed on my channel that I traded the F3 for an RT in the fall of 2021. The motivation is simply that the RT offers more passenger comfort and we mostly ride 2 up. If it had just been me I would stuck with F3 for all the reasons you mentioned. My white one always reminded me of the Storm Troopers from Star wars. It was a great machine and we are sold on the brand. I hope your journey into the Spyder world works out for you.

@@BikeBoatandTravel Thanks for the info and encouragement. I want one. Value of used Spyders in the UK is quite high. I hope Putin doesn't invade Europe. That COULD stop me getting one.

Great information. Not many people are willing to talk about maintenance in general and what little quirks may go along with the purchase. Would you be willing to reveal the cost of maintenance? What was the cost of the extended warranty you purchased? How much are oil changes? What was the cost of your first 5000 kilometer service? How much do you think the replacement of the drive pulley would have cost without the warranty? I rode a Gold Wing for many years, and did much of my own maintenance.
Considering the purchase of this machine in order to get back on the road after many years, and I am trying to get a real idea of the cost of ownership. Thank you ahead of time for any information you can provide. Great video; beautiful machine. Any regrets after purchase. Wishes? Thank you very much.

I have no problem sharing information
All values are in Canadian $ and include 13% sales tax
      Extended Warranty 3 years: $1242
I just bought the Oil change Kit for this year $167.
      5000 Km. check (2018) $303
I would guess the pulley change would have been around $400. This repair is not as common as the traffic on internet portrays. My dealer has only done, 4 mine being the 4th. BRP had solved this issue going forward.
We are heading to the dealer this morning to discuss the purchase of a new 2022 F3 for next season. My experience with the Spyder has been excellent. We have done a couple of long trips this summer (check out the vids 😜) 2 up and pulling a trailer and it it has never let us down. I went directly to the Spyder. I never had a two wheeler, I have no regrets about the purchase. Don't hesitate if you have any questions. All the best and thanks for your interest in channel.

@@BikeBoatandTravel I purchased my 2018 F3 LTD with 2K in spring of 19 on it as it was a demo. No issues until 2020 when belt started moving, turned out front pulley had to be replaced which was warranty. Then into following year 3 more pulleys which I had to pay for 2...gr!!! This year pulley failed again and I contacted BRP who would not replace until I mentioned "small claims court"! Turned out the output shaft in transmission had to be replaced and BRP paid under "Good Will"? Winter is on us here in Nova Scotia so only have about 100kms on repairs so hoping this issue is resolved for riding season 2021???

    • @BikeBoatandTravel
      @BikeBoatandTravel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@renniey That is quite the repair story and good that you stuck to your guns with BRP. I have heard of that output shaft failure on the 1330's Shawn Smoak of the Smoakvlogs did a series on it. Interestingly, when I had my pulley done the service manager at the dealership told me he had only seen 3 fail which seems contrary to the traffic on the internet about it. Since this video I traded the F3 in on a 2021 RT LTD Chrome edition. It is just a notch up from the F3 from the riding comfort perspective which for our style of riding is the major consideration. All the best and safe riding in 2022.

These things seem over-engineered with little input from the users. But then again, such is the way of any mechanical these days. Thumbs up on the video.
