I'm working on being less controlling. -I'm trying to accept how people express their love languages even if it's not my preferred way of receiving love because I think our love language can actually be a sign about areas we need to do more inner/self love work and get to a more balanced place where we express and receive love in each area more equally.
That is very big of you to work on genuinely receiving love in other ways because my love language, quality time, is indeed the way the most readily accept the love being shown and expressed to me. I can appreciate the others and they all have their place but it's difficult for me to accept that someone truly loves me especially in a romantic way if they choose to show me love in others ways but is not intentional about showing me love through the way in which I have expressed I most feel loved.

I think it becomes a bigger problem if they don't do any of the love languages/don't put forth effort at all. I try to apply the analogy of just because someone is speaking German(which i don't speak)doesn't mean they're not talking to me. Being married for 17 years I understand both sides: he has never been in a situation that he's had to stretch his emotional integrity, and she just wants to understand. He's reacting to his past pain, and his feelings are hurt; unfortunately his secondary emotion processes it as a woman disrespecting him.The uncomfortable conversation has to be had in order to move forward.

LOVE this episode! I feel like another thing that would be great for Vincent and Briana is to analyze how their personality type play a part in how they see the world. I have found that a major disconnect that couples have comes from their differences in how they interact with the world. If I were to guess I would say she is probably either an ENTJ or an ESTJ which means Brianna may interact with a world that makes her look "bossy" or "micromanaging" to the outside world, but she sees it as helpful or maybe observant. So for Briana it would be really confusing for someone to tell you that you're being rude when you're trying to be helpful. If Vincent understood the way she thinks maybe he wouldn't as easily become offended because he would know she notice intentionally belittling him.

I can see you going back to school and getting your therapy licensure and using that to reach out to viewers who are having marriage and communication issues. And he definitely said verbatim that he didnt like that she was assertive (I always tend to rewatch after the reviews this season). I had the same thoughts mentioned on if he wanted a silent woman? I love this topic because this happens A LOT with my kids. (we do a lot of therapy) So I would witness situations where kid A will say one thing. Kid B knows that something is off and expresses it the wrong way. Kid B is seeing the pattern but is speaking about the situation and Kid A is lost on it all. It happens ALL THE TIME. So I always have to play referee and translator.
I think that the Breanna and Vincent thing is even a little deeper. I believe that at some point Vincent was criticized and told he wasn’t smart and belittled making him hypersensitive and hyper vigilant. And he doesn’t even recognize his trauma/issue , which makes it difficult to express what the issue is, because he only knows how he feels but is not aware of the true reason why.
Vincent needs to learn how to communicate better, cause the way he shut down on Briana last night was so dramatic. She was genuinely lost, and instead of him efficiently telling her what bothered him he chose to shut her out and leave her to read his mind.

I believe that at some point Vincent was criticized and told he wasn’t smart and belittled making him hypersensitive and hyper vigilant. And he doesn’t even recognize his trauma/issue , which makes it difficult to express what the issue is, because he only knows how he feels but is not aware of the true reason why.

Vincent needs to learn how to communicate better, cause the way he shut down on Briana last night was so dramatic. She was genuinely lost, and instead of him efficiently telling her what bothered him he chose to shut her out and leave her to read his mind.
