      Excellent! I'm happy to hear that Google's AI is working for good and not for evil! : ) Enjoy your build David. BTW per my comment in the description of the video: in step 4 of the lowering instructions by RB-instructions I recommend doubling up on the sub-assemblies that attach to the frame of the model for the front wheels (on each side of the model). This is so that the 3L Technic axles that compresses the suspension (step 5) are supported at both ends, not just from the front side.

    4:10 is not the standard version, there's already a change at the black windshield frame wich is not explained in your video. It's like youre missing building step 466, i think that's the reason why there's such a big gap in the front 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jonas! Did you check out my Update video? I go over all of the steps to fix the roof gap in more detail; yes I missed a few steps in the original video which is why I published an update to clarify everything. There's definitely a large and very odd gap on either side of the roof in the stock version of the model - have a look at your set and also check out the stock Lego photos of the model that I show in the update video.

    is it possible to make the mods without buying new parts? i mean there are spare parts in the bag

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, you can actually kind-of do the roof mod without really needing additional parts. And as for lowering the model - have a look at the Rebrickable page that I linked to in the description of the video for this mod. On the Inventory tab you can see the list of parts you will need. I think you will need to source some additional parts from BrickLink or from your other spares or sets. There are only a small number of parts required that are very common, so that's good news. All the best with it!

  • @josiahjose734
    @josiahjose734 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    To remove the gap from step 467 just leave the white block out not the white No.1. Dont need to buy pieces. I did it for mine and it still looks good, you just need to find the right angle for the white No.1. Hope this helps

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Josiah, thanks for sharing. Yes this has been commented on by a few people. The reason I didn't do it that way is that if done this way the end of the Black 2L pin with bush sticks out of the Technic beam and is visible from the roof when looking the model from front/top. You could of course cover it up with the 1L round beam you removed - but this is fiddly to do if you are doing this mod after building the model. Anyway, all good, and I'm glad to hear you found an alternate solution and that you are happy with your model!

      This model is a shocker for stickers. So if you are anal with regard to sticker placement and you want to build this model, I recommend you pick up a second sticker set from BrickLink for this RSR. That way you have a spare incase you botch any. It's what I did!

    i think it's the same designer as the Ferrari 488 GTE (#42125) because i had the same height problem with the Ferrari and if i watch this video it's because i built the Porsche 911 RSR (#42096) and it's in "baja" height position (ready to endure the desert)
    The ford GT looks flat so i think there's a modification for this one too
    there's another problem : there's no twin wheels on lego trucks (i'm truck driver and there's 4 wheel on each rear axle : 2 on each side, ok wide wheels exist but the wheels on lego trucks are the same width at the front and at the back so, it doesn't work)

    Happy New Year. I have now lowered my Porsche 42096, at the back as shown in the link, at the front I have doubled the support on each side, a total of 4x. a 4L axis is used for this. now the suspension is supported 1x before and 1x after the spring mount on the frame and has received more stability. I took the bricks I needed from my inventory. I also implemented the roof with the tapering of the A-pillar, but put 2x half pins (black) into the lift arm so that the soft axles experience better holding power. Thank you for the great inspiration. Greetings from Germany.

    Hi, I just finished building this set and for some reason, the rear differential does not work even though everything is built correctly. When I spin one tyre on the rear the other does not spin?

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi OrbitaL - that behaviour sounds right. I.e. you should be able to rotate one wheel independently of the other or at a different speed to rotate the drive shaft. That's the beauty of an automotive differential demonstrated right there!

    • @orbital1210
      @orbital1210 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CraftedBricks Hi, shouldn’t spinning one wheel also cause the other to spin on the other side ?

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @OrbitaL If there was no differential and the two wheels were connected by an axle, then yes both wheels would turn if you lifted the vehicle up and just turned one wheel.
      A Differential allows both wheels to turn at different rates independently of each other, even to the point of one wheel turning and the other not at all. All Technic vehicle models with a differential will do exactly what you describe. The real test is actually the other way around, if you turn the drive shaft both wheels should turn.
      There are a few videos on how automotive differentials work on TH-cam, look them up, it's always good to learn how these sort of things work and why they were invented!

  • @therickman1990
    @therickman1990 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've just done the roof mod without extra parts. In your video the roof is already different from the standard model. I put the black flex axles (that make up the A-pillar of the car) in the top of the windowbar with the Porsche logo (like in your video) and removed the black 'knee-joint' thingy's from step 466. I then put the white 'technic connectors' from stept 467 in the place of those knee-joints and got rid of the small red axle from step 467.

      Hi Rick - In my 'update' video for this series of mods I go over the roof fixes again to correct any comments or concerns. And yes you can approach the roof fix differently - well done! I bought the 911 GT3 RS which lines up proportional well with my real life car, but what I noticed with this technic set is the wheel base is to short throws the whole model out of proportion i wish lego kept the proportions on point like the earlier model.

      Hi Cloude, that's easy! The Porsche RSR for sure. It looks great, especially when lowered. I still love mine. I've seen lots of reviews of the Ferrari 488 and Lego dropped the ball with that set. It's poorly designed, has way too many stickers and doesn't look that good (other's opinions may differ though). I'm not buying that set.
      If you really want a set that is going to put a smile on your face though - it's the 1:8 scale Porsche GT3 RS. (I did a video on it). I'm also working on the Bugatti at the moment, and it is going to be Epic! Lego has done a superb job with these 1:8 scale Technic super car sets.

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This sounds like it is a problem with your differential. When you lift the model up off the ground and rotate one wheel, the other will rotate in a counter direction, that is normal. But when both are in contact with the ground and driving the differential should allow you to move the car forwards or backwards with no problem. I can't really help as I can't physically see your model, but I hope this has given you an idea on what to look at.

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't recall as I'm at work and don't have access to my model, but you can/should be able to see the differential when you flip the car upside down. Check the small tan gears (there are 3 of them) are able to rotate. Also you could have an issue with the parts for the engine, perhaps that is seizing up and causing things to lock-up. I appreciate this must be frustrating! It happens to all of us from time to time with Technic builds. I've had to almost fully dismantle a model in the past due to making a small gear positioning mistake in a gear-box assembly for one of the larger cars. Good luck with it.

    Late bloomer here lol...and I plan on purchasing this set soon esp. with the modifications youve provided. Only question I have is...Can you replace the blue technic connecting pins with black ones to make cosmetically better? I agree with the blue making it look a little more distinctive and unsightly. Just concerned if it would make assembly harder to follow?

If you are going to do these mods please watch my 'update' video on these mods, I go over some corrections to my changes to the roof and explain the lowering mod in more detail.
      Yes you can replace most of the 3L blue pins with corresponding black pins, however some of the visible blue pins are the shorter 2L pins with a cross axle, they only come in blue, so you won't be able to fully replace all of the pins. I hope this helps! Cheers, Simon

    Concerning the adjustment made to the flex-axle on the roof, couldn't one have simply take the 1x1 beam and place it "behind" the beam the connector plugs in to ? Which would bring it one stud closer ? I don't remember the part names, please excuse the terrible explanation.

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heya Nathan, yes you could do that; you are talking about the 1x1 white beam, part #18654. One of the reasons I went with my option to use a different pin to shift the angle elements, that the flex axles thread through, in one stud is that it is very easy to do the change that way after the model has already been assembled. Your suggestion would also work but would be more fiddly to do, but I like it that you would not need any additional parts! Well spotted!

But seems Lego doesnt have proper sized wheels for this scale of cars, unless you take the thicker wheels from like the F1 Ferrari, they got the same rim-size, but bigger tires. The steering will be kinda broken (get stuck), but at least it looks proper sized.

      Hi Marcel, thank you and you are welcome! ...regarding replacing many of the blue pins with black or white pins it is possible, but could be very expensive to do! Lego only produced parts 43093 (2L pin with an axle) in a handful of sets in white or black. And part 6558 (3L pin) is available in black but was only made for one set in white. So as you can imagine given their scarcity the cost for those parts on BrickLink in those colors is crazy! I agree with you though if Lego had have used black and white pins for this model it would have made the model much better and given it a cleaner look.
