- Hey guys! We’re Jimmy & Natalie, and we’re really excited to share our journey with you as we work on converting our new short bus into our very own tiny home on wheels!
Our bus is a 1997 Thomas International Short Bus. We have some big plans for completing the build, and for traveling in it as soon as it’s ready.

I think your choice for rustoleum alternative was a good one. One mistake that was made with our bus was there was never a clear coat applied by the prior owner who painted ours, and the paint peeled when we washed it. I highly suggest clear coats in the future buses or vans. Adds lots of protection to the paint and longevity.

hey guys curious as to how it's holding up now that it's been a little longer. We will be painting our roof here soon up in NC as it continues to get warmer but haven't decided on which brand to go with.

My elastomeric paint looked like CRAP after just a few months. Because it ha a texture from the roller, it held dirt/mold that could not be scrubbed off
I was just wondering how this roof paint job is holding up? I need to do mine and as cheap as possible. But with something that will hold up to the weather and such????
I'd like to hear a 1 year+ review also. Im thinking about doing mine and want to get an idea of how much of a difference it makes regarding the interior temps.
@@fishing392 I do know My bus Gets pretty HOT some times even with all the widows open. Wish These peeps would follow up on there builds! Lol.
How many gallons did you end up using? Did you do one coat or two? Thanks!
We ended up using 1 gallon and we did at least 2 coats. The can was bone dry when we were done though. Hope that helps!!
I just bought this paint as well! My whole roof will be a roof deck with solar panels, so spending an arm and a leg on something that isn't really putting in the work seems outrageous. How has it held up for you guys? :)
We couldn’t agree more! It’s held up really well for us. It seems to work really well at reducing the inside temp, especially with the 2 roof top fans. It’s been a few months and it still looks fresh as well! 😄
You do realize you can buy Henry tropi-cool in a 1gal pail also. Much better product at the same price. $86 on Amazon
I'll be doing the same soon. Please let us know how that brand is doing.
I highly recommend it! It has been a few months and it’s held up wonderfully! We are working in the dead of summer in the southeast and the white reflective roof has really helped keep the temperature down

Curious if you did a manual temp check before and after with hands to test the difference in heat exchange, or used a temperature gauge?
We didn’t do any rigorous checks with a temperature gauge but I t’s generally pretty cool now that summer is starting to hit. It’s never hotter than it is in the shade, and the two MaxxAir fans we put in really help reduce the greenhouse effect in the bus.
