  • Sometimes it's good to see how many cards you can make with different mediums off a basic design, like this one from a 2012 Take Ten magazine. Using stencil, washi and ink drag examples to make totally different but the same basic cards! Bottom line is to use your own stash!!

    Hi Julia, ... YAY, it is Monday morning and breakfast with Julia! 🥰
    It just goes to show that if we see a card that we like in a magazine or someone on TH-cam is making a card, we as creative crafters don't have to make the exact card by purchasing new craft products, but to shop from what we already have... wonderful!!! In this way we have to think and become creative, and we can even learn new techniques.
    Julia, your cards were beautiful..., you certainly have been a busy lady as you have made so many! I was very interested how you included some washi tape... thank you. I am thankful that I don't have much washi tape in my craft studio and know that I won't be purchasing any more.
    I will talk to you soon. God's blessings, love and hugs, Gloria 🤗💐💖

      Oh Gloria - I like that - "Shop from what we already have" - wonderful concept!! The thing I liked about this card was the creative stimulation. I just couldn't quit thinking of new things to try with it. And, I am glad you asked about washi - because it really was the perfect finish to these. Take care my Friend - God's blessings to you! With love and hugs, Julia

    Hey Julia! Very interesting cards! I have the hardest time with white space so not sure how mine would look. You make it look easy though. I noticed your little bookmarks right away 😊. Enjoy your videos!

      Thanks Leslie! White space and I have a bit of a love-hate relationship - why that should be so challenging I'm not sure, but sometimes it is hard not to fill it up!

    What an interesting technique! I never saw this before. The cards turned out great, even the one that you did not particularly like. LOL! 🤣 I thought it was pretty and like it. Great magazine, too. Thanks for showing us how to do this!👍

    Hi Julia. What a great video. I just find it so very interesting to see where people get their card inspiration from. And like you sometimes it's the embellishments that spark my imagination and get those 'ol juices flowing. Thanks so much. 😊🇨🇦

      Hi Brendaelaine! Glad to hear from you!! I am always inspired by something when I pick up a Take Ten. And eventhough this one was published in 2012, it's a timeless concept. Thank you for your kind words!

    Wonderful interpretation, Susie. I only recently was introduced to your channel and have enjoyed every episode so far. This one was especially intriguing because with the same basic structure, you created an amazing assortment of unique designs. I especially liked the birthday card and the eventual recipient is sure to have a one-of-a-kind treasure.

    Wow, Susie, I think this card design is pretty interesting. It's so dramatic and the flowers certainly added with the black squares and Washing Tape just makes them wow.

      Hi Roxanne! Hope all is well with you. This was a great format to drag out washi and put it to use. I like that little strip tear technique and it worked really well on these cards.

      You know Sybil I think that card layout may be indestructible. I threw a bunch of different things at it and it stood the test of them all! It's a keeper! And it was entertaining for me for sure!!

    Julia you have made some very interesting cards out of little bits and pieces. As usual you made it look so very easy. The yellow card is very different from the others but it is still interesting. 🐞🇦🇺

      Hi Nina - Thank you for your kind comment. I added a little black into the yellow squares on the yellow card, and I think it balanced out the card more.

    Hello Julia. I like how much the black adds pop to your cards. I noticed that Gina K. uses black and white space in her cards. The washi added really finishes them. I have a tiny star punch I noticed the other day. No idea I even bought it but its a fiskars one I think. I have that Kaisercraft stamp! They barely (sadly) have inventory now in their online store which is a shame as I do not live near a store. But I do have a massive amount of their products here in my craft room thankfully bought over the years at excellent prices since they are Australian. 😊

      @SeniorSusieStamps  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kaye! I really like that stamp and have used it free hand more times than I can count. I find washi challenging, but this time it just worked out somehow. Try that tiny star you have and let me know how you like the results?!

      @@SeniorSusieStamps I realised that I have several dies that are lattice type frames and the waste will be tiny squares! I think the squares work somehow better with these designs as they are quite contemporary.

    • @SeniorSusieStamps
      @SeniorSusieStamps  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Kaye I think that's exactly right - the little squares bring a contemporary feel to the playground. You hit the nail on the head!!!
