You are so welcome Elizabeth! I have a large collection, and if it weren't organized, I never would be able to find anything. That would drive me crazy, so I feel your pain. Before I decided to organize by subject, it was a real challenge and several times I purchased duplicates. Welcome to My Channel!
Hi Julia, I have been enjoying your channel the last couple of days and became a subscriber. I mentioned this video in one of my videos and wanted to let you know. I also wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all your wonderful ideas. Thank you so much. Keep inspiring us with your fun content. Hugs, Angela
Julia, what a fantastic idea. I've been thinking of making up a bunch of sentiments to have on hand, but using the baseball pockets is perfect! Thanks for sharing!
When I stamp sentiments I make some more for last minute cards and have been crazily storing them with the stamp sets, your idea is so much better. Thankyou from Scotland
Hi Anne - That storage system works also, but I am not organized enough to remember which sentiment is in which set and then go find it. I have pulled a lot of my sentiments out and group them by subject type. Not all, but many. This notebook system works really well for me, especially when I just need a quickie to finish a card! Another Scot - Yay!! I am glad you are here!!
Hi, I'm Australian and I like your style. I too am an official Senior now. I also like creating and sharing what i make. No selling. Your ideas and methods inspire me and give me more clues on how to do more with what I have. Thank You. From Madelene.
Hi Madelene, you sound just like me as I too am an Australian, a senior who loves making cards and sharing. I don't sell my cards either because I cannot or won't put a price on them! I am so happy that you have found Julia's channel as she has a plethora of tips and tricks up her sleeve... LOL! It is so good using what we have. Wishing you a blessed day, Gloria. 🌻
Hi Madelene and Welcome to My Channel!! The Aussie following grows - YAY!! There is lots of content on the channel so I hope you will find other videos that help you on your crafty path. So, come back soon!!
Hi Clozelle and Welcome! I find myself stamping several every time I use a sentiment, then adding it to the book. I will probably need to add another set of 9 pockets soon. LOL
I really appreciated this video for the explanation of the different inks and getting things ready to use later. I like your use of scraps! Now I don't feel so bad saving them.😊
I am forever running low on white scraps. There are so many uses for them. And this jumpstart on Christmas has been a real timesaver for me this year! Did you see part 2? It's on the inside sentiment insert - th-cam.com/video/gmzpubibPQA/w-d-xo.html
You have inspired me Julia. I am definitely going to do this. I love the binder idea for storage. It will help me I think so I am not so overwelmed with my supplies. Especially with my die cuts and embossing folders, pretty much everything. Love it. Thank you for what you share.
Hi Tabitha - I love this for storing sentiments. I always stamp a few extra and add them to the notebook, so when I'm in hurry I can do a quich pull out and go!!
Fantastic idea on stamping sentiment ahead and have them on hand for any occasion....I also have these baseball sleeves and keep my small stamping stamps in them. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
Hi Ellie - This sentiment notebook idea is a gamechanger. Did you see part 2? Here is a link if you missed it - th-cam.com/video/gmzpubibPQA/w-d-xo.html
Julia thank you, you answered my questions on the types of inks cause it was so confusing at least for me and I’m sure I’m gonna have plenty more questions to ask. That’s a great idea to pre-stamp a lot of sentiments. I’ll save those small projects for rainy days. I’ll look forward to all your tutorials,in making your beautiful cards. Thank you so much for sharing.
Hi Susan - Welcome to My Channel! There is lots of content there if you have time to check out some older videos. Otherwise, I try to put a new video out Sunday afternoons (USA). So, come back soon!!
Hi Sheila - Glad it was helpful! I tried that zip loc storage, and it just didn't work for me. If I can't see what I'm looking for, I just go hunt the stamp instead! Have a great week!!
Great idea - I love making cards but have a time getting the sentiments finished. I like to do cards and then add the sentiment when I need. Having them already to go is excellent as I have so many to give but never the time when needed to finish. Thanks!
Hi Mary - I can't tell you how much I love this sentiment system!! It is really so easy to just pull a sentiment to finish a card. There is a part 2 to this video did you see it? th-cam.com/video/gmzpubibPQA/w-d-xo.html
I have taken several small items, birds, butterflies, fabric triangles and put together several card faces and clusters. I am storing them between book pages for now. Small hard bound books from thrift stores or fleamarkets making great ephemera storage!
Thank you, Julia for the wonderful idea of using baseball card pockets for storing sentiments! I have been stamping extra sentiments for all occasions for a year, but just put them into small bags and then store them in a basket. Your idea would make it so much easier to find what I'm looking for.
Hi Julia, I watched twice to make sure I didn't miss anything. Thank you for sharing the difference in the inks This is my second year to donate to a local nursing home and this will help me get a jump-start on it. Last year I misjudged the time it takes when you have a" deadline. "
Hi Karen - Good for You donating to your local nursing home! I know they appreciate it so much!! You are right, sometimes those deadlines creep up on you, especially when you are trying to get them out so they can be used and sent out. I'm sure this Jumpstart will help the process!
This has been a total gamechanger for me this year Annette! Did you see the second part to this? Here is a link if you need it. th-cam.com/video/gmzpubibPQA/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for sharing these tips. I just happened upon your video and subscribed. I have been making sentiments and storing in a craft box, but the baseball card holder is a much better idea. Thanks again! Have a great day!
Hi Barbara - Welcome to My Channel. There is a lot of content here if you want to watch some of the older videos. And I try to put a new video out Sunday afternoons (USA) so Come Back Soon!!
You are so very welcome! Inks can be a bit confusing at times. And they truly do have different purposes, so having more that one type certainly can make sense. My collection is color driven rather than brand, I just happen to have a lot of Stampin Up because that's where I started.
The stamp that was long and skinny on the big wood block is hard to center on your paper, turn it rubber side up and mark the sides of the block on both ends where the text is to help center on your paper next time.
Great idea! Making the Christmas sentiments ahead of time will help a lot and keeping them in those sleeves is a terrific idea. Thanks for sharing this wonderful way of getting ahead of the Christmas card rush!😉❤👍
Such a wonderful idea for getting a jump-start on holiday cards- thanks so much, Julia. This leads me to ask a question that I am sure you have addressed before, but since I am a fairly new subscriber, I have never heard you explain why your page is entitled SENIOR SUSIE STAMPS. I await your reply with baited breath. :)
I’m so glad I found you here! You’re definitely an inspiration! Thank you for your tip on sentiment storage, I can’t wait to organize my sentiments! Aloha! 💜
Welcome Shawn! That sentiment notebook has been a real game changer for me! There is plenty of content on the channel if you want to go back and catch up. And I try to put out a new video on Sunday afternoon (USA) so Come Back Soon!!
Breakfast with Susie. ❤ Hi Julia, my goodness... stamping the sentiments for Christmas what a wonderful idea, and it removes that step when making Christmas cards later. I like how you store all your sentiments in the folder which makes them easier to find rather than having the sentiments stored in a container of some kind. You use the same black inks pads Versafine Onyx black and Memento Tuxedo..., black they are a staple in my studio, and I have been using them for years. I really don't have many coloured dye based ink pads with the exception of the distress inks, but they are useless for general stamping especially sentiments. Maybe I will have to look at getting some of my favourite colours although I am not sure what brand to get whether to stick to memento or try another! Julia, any suggestions? Wishing you a wonderful and blessed day. Love and hugs, Gloria 🤗❤🌻
G'Day Gloria!! I really really like this way of doing sentiments. Remember last year I drug all those sentiments out of storage over to the desk? Not this year. A little at a time will make a big difference in the process. You use mainly water colours for colour don't you? Why change that? But, I hear Catherine Pooler makes great ink. However Memento is tried and true and a lot less expensive. Not sure I really have a recommendation, because the majority of my inks are used Stampin Up or TH Distress...Hugs from across the water!! Julia
@@SeniorSusieStamps Hi Julia, yes that is right I do use a lot of watercolour, however watercolour doesn't work for sentiments. I have all the distress oxides, and if I want to stamp a sentiment in a specific colour other than black, I use the oxides, but in doing that I also have to heat emboss the sentiments otherwise it smudges. Maybe I should just stick with that as it has worked for me in the past. I will have to check to see if Catherine Pooler inks are dye or pigment. It is late now, but I will check if I remember tomorrow. Just a note I have also used the distress inks and distress oxides as watercolour as well. Have a wonderful and blessed day. Love and hugs. Gloria 🥰💐❤
Thank you for the stamping idea...much easier than stamping with every card. You showed a stamp that could be used on a misty or a block. How did you do that?
I have bunch of SU stamp colors but 99% of my stamping is with Memento Tuxedo Black. I need to do what you do and get out the colors that go with the theme of what I'm making.
Hi Elsie! I understand how easy it is to get into a black sentiment rut! I struggle myself. Christmas is easy to use other colors tho. And if you start a little notebook of sentiments in the colors of the season, I bet it will help!! Let me know how it goes!!
Do you prefer to be called Julia or Susie? Had to say, I love your idea for preprinting your sentiments. Where did you buy the inserts for the notebook?
Hi Patricia - I will answer to either, and really don't have a preference! The baseball sleeves came from amazon. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding. If you use pigment ink, you can't use alcohol markers. If you want to color with alcohol markers, you need to use a water based ink instead.
