- 79 series Dual Cab Land Cruiser GXL V8 Turbo Diesel 3' exhaust twin locked. On an Australian farm firebreak track testing out the 70 Series Cruiser off road for the first time and recording the beautiful humming / note of the V8 Turbo Diesel.
Engine: Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series V8 Turbo Diesel 4.5l
3 inch Manta Exhaust system was installed by SS Auto Repairs in Wangara.

By far this is the best sounding diesel exhuast sound I have ever heard. I love the way it rumbles when idling. And when you step on it that crackling higher note is pure. Great work there mate.

I'm interested to know if it "drums" a loud resonance inside the cab at cruising speeds; say from 80kph through to 120kph. I'd like a good note for play time in the dunes but don't want to hear it loudly in the cab on long trips.

Sounds awesome Ronny, exactly what I wanna do to my 76, just wondering if you fitted it yourself? how did you managed to get a wrench or socket onto the top 2 bolts at the back of the turbo? thanks heaps
This sounds remarkably similar to a gas powered V-8. I imagine it red lines at considerably lower RPM than a gas engine though.

Think it was somewhere around 1200-1500 stainless steel installed was with something else at the same time. Sorry can't be accurate.

does that still have a muffler in it or a straight though ?
It has a small hotdog just to take the crackle out of it.
Ronny Dahl would you think that having no muffler would harm the engine because of the lack of back pressure ? i have heard the engine like having a muffler.
someone is jealous I think, Ronny I seem to be styling mine on yours, sounds mint. what Manta exhaust components are you running in this clip, Cat? Muffler? resonator? Hotdog? want mine sounding the same

Hey Ronny, did it make much power difference? And no cat, did it effect warranty? Cheers :)
no cat or muffler should not defect a warranty as it actually assits the engine in breathing. Power difference was noticeable until I put the 35inch rubber on. also changing the sorkel-head to a ram-head at the same time will help by about 4-6HP and thats just the ram head not including 3 inch pipe etc.
These landcruiser's are a tad a addictive aren't they!! Cheers mate
