  • In this video I am very excited to share with you my Gen2 Ford Ranger Raptor. I just collected this vehicle last week and traded in my last generation Ranger Raptor.
    This part 1 of the owner's review series is a static review of the exterior and interior of the car. I will make more detailed videos of the driving impressions, the drive mode system, and maybe road trips in the future. So please subscribe and stay tuned for more Raptor contents. Cheers!

    The vents are functional. Hood and side. They are heat extractors

      As far as I can tell they are not, there are no holes in these vents

      @@phrankeeecars I'm curious about regional differences. I'm guessing you're in NZ (Auckland noted there). It looks like yours has 4 forward parking sensors, whereas the AU models appear to have 6. No idea why that would be, apart from regional design standards or something. But that could be a reason for a difference. I mean, it's not like it gets hot over there :) (haha I know, I ran an Ironman race in Wanaka in 39oC temps...)

      @@phrankeeecars There are small openings in the side vents (I just checked mine with a torch), but the on the inside of the hood vents, they are obstructed by heat shielding making them.... not very functional.

      @scott.the.falcon really not sure, so even the sensors are different? That seems odd... seems like they have so many variants for different countries, NZ doesn't get memory seats either

      @auswi I just did a very detailed investigation this morning, and I am happy to report that all vents are functional, it's just that the opening is so small, it's hard to see. The hood has a couple round holes underneath that allow air to flow to the vents

    You have the same steering wheel button layout as in Thailand, which means you have to answer the phone on the touch-screen. This is so easy to get wrong when you're driving as your arm is moving about. A phone button on the steering wheel would've been ideal, as in all other cars.
    Other than that the car is excellent, it far exceeds our expectations. My wife got her Raptor in Thailand on the 22nd of September as we booked in November 2021, before knowing basically anything about the car. Ideal for Thailand's potholed roads.

    • @phrankeeecars
      @phrankeeecars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree with you, the phone button is a pain... there are a few other things as well, I will try to make another video on some of the minor details of the car, anything else you fine less ideal?

    • @KimCJorgensen

      @@phrankeeecars Thanks for the reply, I would've loved memory seats as they are not available in the Thai spec. My wife is a foot shorter than me but at least we both use the same steering wheel and mirror settings so it's not a biggie.
      We were both of the impression that Ford really went to town on this one to shut the competition up well and good. Did they succeed? Hell yes.

    Thanks for the review Frank. I picked up my Raptor last week from John Andrew Ford. I was worried that after a 6 month wait, and the built-up expectation, that I would be disappointed. Nope. This thing is amazing! I have only just started to give it a push (trying to be nice on run-in which I am told you don't need, but still want to do) and WoW! Acceleration and noise for what is essentially a dual cab ute, is just on another level. There are some bits that are missing though: Assisted Parking and Spray in Bed Liner. Utemaster load lid is getting fitted this week. The B&O sound system is more than adequate, and I am still learning how to drive the screens (thanks for the tip on swiping up to move a tile to full screen).

      @@auswi what's the reason you're missing the assisted parking? I thought the only option is the electric bed cover, or was it different for earlier models? I should receive mine in about a month, but since I'm in the EU it's detuned to 292hp. I hope I can get either the US or AU tune for it somewhere.

    • @auswi
      @auswi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrRandomTwat The NZ versions only have four parking sensors front and rear, so they physically miss out on the sensors required for full parking assist. Bit frustrating as the AU versions have them, so would have been just as simple to spec it for the NZ ones given they come from the same factory in Thailand and would have cost about $50...

    Does your Raptor have memory function for the driver seat? I guess the European version is pretty similar (except lower power output) to NZ version, whereas the US version has some differences like KO3 tires, sliding rear window and different drive modes - and in Driving Sports TV's Raptor it has memory for the driver seat, which I think we don't get in Europe.

      I have just ticked over 1,000ks on mine, and average is 13.0 per 100. Mostly 80-100k zones, with some city and motorway stop start. All things equal, it is about 2-3 litres more than my previous 2019 Ford Escape over similar roads.

      @@valtervalentinuzzi7788 Still sitting on 13lt/100 after 5,500 ks. Highway driving is about 11lt/100. Last big trip, I would say you would easily get 700ks from a full tank. The thing to keep in mind is your driving style, where you drive (city/hwy) and how much load you have in it. It is 2.5 tonnes, so the more stop/start and throttle you use, the consumption goes up. One week, I was on 15/100, but I was exploring Sport mode and launches ;-) I don't do much city driving, but often crawl along a motorway. If you live in the 'burbs, I can totally see a 17+ number is likely.
