INFP Body Language Secrets

  • When you meet an INFP, they may not initially share much about themselves. This can make typing and understanding an INFP difficult. But if you can learn to read their body language, you can come to understand the INFP better.
INFPs process what they have to say carefully. They see deep nuances in things and they try hard to be honest and real with what they say and do. This means INFPs can appear secretive, guarded, and overly cautious at times. They may not share a lot verbally, but they do have many subtle cues. There many INFP signs and tells in their smiles and their expressions.

Clorox Bleach Although I am quite independent and self-reliant, I don’t think individuals are more important than society, if that’s what you mean. Individualism is a puzzling philosophy to me since one can’t exist without the other, so I’d argue they’re one in the same. I guess being an INFP I’m always looking at both the details and the big picture and thus feel they’re equally as important. Thanks for asking & making me look it up!

  • @orangeziggy348
    @orangeziggy348 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

INFP's process information and think while they are looking around because it's looking around that helps them process all of the various thoughts that are coming from various directions in their mind. The mind is made out of many parts, and looking left to right will result in garnering a different answer than looking right to left. Looking around and up at the ceiling will result in a different set of thoughts than looking down at the floor, looking out of a window will result in another different set of thoughts, it's the looking around that stimulates all of the different sets of thoughts. If I were to just stare only straight ahead, I would become stuck on one set of thoughts/only 1 perspective and it would be boring to me to be stuck on those thoughts only. I am trying to find and create and gather a variety of thoughts from different directions in my head, and this gathering process does require that I look around in all different directions. Thus, if I was to only look straight ahead at the person in front of me, I wold not be able to give them a full answer that has been well thought out and well considered, it would instead be a flat, non-thought out answer, right off the top of my head without any considerations; it would need to only be a practical question that has an answer that requires no thinking. So do not take it 'personally' if you ask an INFP a question and they look in different directions; in fact, they are VERY involved in answering your question because they care a lot; if they DID NOT care, then they wouldn't be looking around; it's looking around that enables them to give you the best answer.

Thank you! All of these are so true of me as an INFP. People comment to me that my facial expressions show so much and sometimes it surprises me when they say that because I do attempt to keep how I feel mostly to myself if my feelings are strongly negative. I found that you provided a lot of information and now I can look for that in others as well. I am sure it will help me to understand them and myself as well. Love that part about how an INFP looks into space off to one side when they are trying to understand and grasp something. So true!

This video has finally solved the riddle for me! A lot of generalizations are made about both types, but his way of explaining the idealism from each perspective has solved the riddle of whether I am an INFJ or an INFP.
I can very directly relate to the 49% 51% flip-flop between J and P on every test I've taken, and there have been many.
I am a heart on my sleeve, open book, who loves analyzing other people and inferring things about their lives based on their behaviors. I really love reading people and counseling them on how to seek greater joy and fulfillment in their own personal lives. I also loathe talking on the phone, tend to be more reclusive, get anxious when people speak to me, and generally wish I was invisible most of the time.
I'm a huge list maker and want everything to be perfect and planned, but ultimately I never find the time to actually get it all organized and put into practice.
I am also a confident and gifted vocalist and love stage performing. I however do not usually know what to do with my body when I'm on stage and tend to have a more reserved demeanor by nature.
I give wholeheartedly without expecting anything back, and am not big on social media or fancy things. I'm scatterbrained and forgetful, a little eccentric and pretty much all over the place in my interests.
Confidently Complex. But at least I know which INF type I am with pretty solid certainty! Thanks!!

Check out he cognitive functions because INFP and INFJ share none. INFPs have a much better sense of self thanks to Fi whereas INFJs take on other peoples moods thanks to Fe. If you like the journey more than the destination you are an INFP. If you have any idea of where you are going you are an INFJ. Ne parent makes INFPs extremely poor at making decisions because there are just so many options and each is new and shiny. Don't think about being close on P and J, these types are so different I can't understand why people get confused.

even if it isn't about talking
my mom (an entj) always tells me "god created humans with two hands for a reason. now put that bowl you're tryna balance down, do the work with both hands then go back to your bowl" but I always think that as long as I have 10 fingers then I could manage doing 10 things... of course mom is more efficient, but I'm more widespread (she told me that herself! :D that I learn too many things and that I know more than her but I'm a bit messy- in her defence, she said, she finds everyone messy)

It's amazing how well body language correlates. I've gotten good at seeing Ne eyes, and it's hilarious because you then watch the gesticulations, bouncy vocal tone, and what you know about the person anyway was leaning in the NP direction. My parents always criticize and praise certain traits that made my think I was an ISTJ, so when I get excited and imaginitive I wasn't sure how much I was just adapting for a lack of extroversion. I'm at a point now that my parents see me through what's familiar with them--their practical personalities and upbringing, and my reserved childhood--and that if I feel excitable and emotive, then my opinion of myself is more accurate. I eventually, for curiosity, filmed myself and noticed really obvious Ne eyes. For some reason that confirmation carries so much sentiment for me (I had been back and forth on whether I was a TJ with developed Fi or an FP with developed Te because of how I was raised)

Woah. I was watching this and wondering do I really do all of this? Then I looked back at some vids I did on spiritual talks and you’re so right! The hands. The finger movements. The jaw movements and eye shifting! The shift of agreeable to resistance expression. And you’re so right about when we’re in flow or stressed. The gestures move from inwards to outwards and become more pronounced. It’s like you’ve mirrored me. And it feels strange. In addition, in fellow infp and myself we tend to look at our nails when in conversation. Well pick at them and then realise we need to focus

I truly enjoyed and learned a lot from this discussion and demonstration of body language in INSP people. So much of communication is nonverbal but there is so little time and effort spent on teaching this aspect that it gets lost in the avalanche of behavioral data contained in the simplest and shortest interaction between people. When we learn to integrate verbal and nonverbal data we get more and more complete messages from each other and our overall understanding of each other is enhanced. Thank you for modeling these techniques and communication patterns.

I LOVE your videos!!! I am just starting to study my personality type, INFP, and it’s uncanny how you describe me to a T! I am always questioning everything I hear, is that really true? This greatly offends my husband, he takes it personally like I don’t respect his intelligence. It is amazing to me to learn that so many weird things I do are actually part of my personality type. I wish he could understand this. I also wish I could know his personality type, to understand him better, but he doesn’t share this interest with me. Anyway, thank you for making these videos, they are helping me a lot!

That part about the eyes darting around at 3:00 is so accurate it’s crazy. I was just watching this Live Photo that my cousin took of me for a photo shoot for my LinkedIn. And my eyes are farting around SO MUCH in that 1.5 seconds. I’m looking at it thinking, I look so far away. I wonder if that is an INFP thing. Lo and behold, it is! It is so cool to be on this MBTI journey, literally so enlightening.

Hilarious to me that while I'm watching the part about INFPs tending to sort of relax their jaw when they are trying to take in information and discern if it's true or not, I'm doing that exact thing. xD I do it a lot too--I even remember being around 10-years-old or so when I realized how much I was letting my mouth hang open when observing the world around me, and had to start consciously making an effort to keep my mouth closed in public. lol!

My youtube transcriptor writes this: "ION OF PEACE" when you say "INFPs". The reason our eyes tend to remain unfocused is because to pass from FI of feelings along the bridge and out towards NE requires a good dose of hope and bravery, bravado and creativity, and the lack of the ability to see (uncertainty) what are the possibilities that lie ahead.

I've been up for 51 hours because it's hot as hell! It's about 60 degrees, and my sister made me take out the AC. It sucks because the AC served a disk purpose, it kept me cool, and it blocked out all the noise from the outside. I can't stand anything over 45 degrees. I have to go to the Astral realm and have a chat with mother nature, and tell her to get back on schedule!

As an INFJ I don´t understand why an INFP tends to avoid eye contact while on conversations, I mean the other part can feel ignored at all.... I´d feel ignored and probably would say something about it, sometimes I tend to be very honest ..... but at the same time I think saying this to an INFP it´s a bad idea!!!

Hey. I'm an infp. I do it sometimes out of insecurity or I feel eye contact is too intense.. but I'm actually paying attention and hope my lack of eye contact doesn't put them off.
So.. tell them. They'll explain themselves or put in more effort.. ideally that is,

It is how INFP's process the information while they are thinking. Looking around helps process all of the various thoughts that are coming from various directions in their mind.
