Seen a bunch of these fx30 rig videos recently, but this rig is very sleek and clean. One thing I prefer is the monitor on top of the side handle which is unusual but works better for my style of holding. Great vid!
Great video. FX30 questions: Q1: Have you used a non xlr mic? Q2: If you have, did you have any issues with noise? Q3: What is your camera mic input level? Background - I am using a Rode VideoMic NTG. Just got a FX30 and I am having to increase the mic's gain to the 14 (almost max) and keeping the camera's input level to 2. The is the best combination so far, but still noticeable noise. I had used the Rode on an old Sony camera and had no noise issues.
What a set up! Apart from winning the lottery I don't see how you can afford all that when you have an average salary and a family to feed... you're lucky, take advantage of it!
Good build-out vid, Gerard. Mix of footage and assembly shots works very well. Needs headers, a plus. (“Handel” should be “Handle”😊.) Was that an aerosol blower at 2:36? Some suggest not using them for risk of propellant getting on sensor. Was that surfboard dude you? BTW, did you try the tip I posted in comments to your prior vid - A6700 custom key = center the focus point - almost as good as joystick recenter? Cheers!
Thanks mate appreciate it, The blower was from nite core it has a filter and is designed for mirror less cameras. I haven’t tried your trick yet but I will now, haven’t replied to the comment to remind me Thanks again mate
Oh man that's small rig for the v mount is amazing! I wish I would have known about that sooner! Thanks so much. This video would be profoundly better if you would cut straight to the actual purpose of the video showing the gear instead of all the other stuff. I bet this video could probably be like 1/16 of the length
I was super excited about the small rig v-mount accessory so I can get away without needing rails. But the reviews on it are not looking too great. It seems like everybody had something bad to say about it. I might get it anyways just to try it out because who knows maybe the reviews are just bogus...
Great video, interesting recommendations, one question though, what is your evidence that using a dummy battery harms the camera? I have not heard this before and have dummy batteries on all of my cameras... Not heckling, just I've not heard of an issue being caused, and I've actually heard it was worse to constantly be charging the batteries, that's why I keep them separate and only use when the Vmount batteries are dead.
I have a simillar rig, actually we share many components, but I have being a bit concern about weight specially since a couple of weeks ago I started to run into wrist problems. Also, I found myself filming lower than I wish, meaning at chest or belly height. Any recommendation you might have for this will be much appreciated (apart from changing my job or doing more gym workouts). xs for the video.
Yeah so basically after this build I did a few weddings and have now striped it back, so I just use little APSC primes, screw on ND, the monitor and the battery
@@gerardneedham Thank you man. I think that I will follow those steps, specially for those long days with camera in hand. Igues that a lighter ND will be a good start. Thanks again!
Man that dead cat looks too long for that little Mic. You were worried about getting the mic in the shop and then you put that big old dead cat on there? They do sell smaller dead cats. Doesn't that extend far beyond the mic?
@@eloreneloreneloreneloreneloren I was in the impression it might be as short or shorter than the one that comes with it. I have a smaller dead cat on my smaller sony shotgun. I was actually using it on my stabilizer recently and it was casting a shadow. So when he mentioned it getting in the shot I thought maybe he had a shorter mic.
I wish you would have said example footage of all a lenses instead of just randomly some of the lenses. Why even mention them if you're not going to show examples? And it has nothing to do with rigging even.
The better answer is "Thanks a lot for the comment. We greatly appreciate your idea. The lenses comparison video will have its own video. This video and the upcoming lenses video are part of our series for videography guide series."
One of the simplest and most efficient fx30 rig builds I've found so far; so awesome 🔥
Glad you like it!
I just wanted to say i really loved that shot on 1:22
Oh thanks 🙏
@@gerardneedham me as well. the flares pull it together nicely.
This is by far the best video Ive found for the FX3 Rig! Ive been looking for a short Shotgun XLR mic and this is the one!
Awesome nice and small

Oh thanks mate, also that’s a weird place for the monitor but I’ll give it a go, never know until you try it

Very true! It’s just tools in my tool shed for work mate, so the expense makes sense
Favorite build I've found. Great work and thanks for the value.
Awesome, thank you!
It looks like a beast!!

Damn, thats a sick Rig. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words
Thanks for the review, it really helped me out.😀
Glad I could help!

its good, sometimes it needs to be tightend
Will order accessories next week

Just from friends past experiences, I would rather damage a battery than a camera ☺️

Yeah boy! Love your stuff
Thanks broski
Do you use IBIS with this rig or you go fully "organic"?
I use active steady shot most of the time and standard on a tripod or gimbal
This is awesome, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Buy tickets to Korea bro
Is it possible to use this with Ronin Gimbal?
For sure but you’ll need the pro version
what was the complete rig with camera cost
Oh I’m not to sure aye, probably like 5-7k
Anyone knows what blower is that at 02:36??
It’s from nitecore
Rigs are way over hyped. Give me the kit handle with 4 channel audio. I get some people need a bigger screen but i think its a waste to set up

Yeah you can cut it down, but it doesn't get in the way even with a wide 11mm lens

I meant b-roll I think, it wouldn't have changed the length, you did sometimes, just not consistently. All good though... @@gerardneedham
